As the decade comes to an end, we've already been chipping in with our "Team Of The Decade" on another thread. It's been quite easy to pick a team of the decade as the real shining lights of AFC are pretty unanymous. However, do you think you can create a Shittest Team Of The Decade? Worst Aberdeen Player of the Decade: Got to be Zdrillic. Never has so much hope drained away so quickly. Utterly disappointing

Worst homegrown player: Darren Mackie - there's been a few, but how four sets of managers have seen an SPL quality in him, I'll never know!

What a contradiction in terms that is.  He's our worst homegrown player but four managers have seen quality in him? 

I think you are forgetting some of the real shockers we've brought through only for them to end up at Peterhead or Inverurie Locos.

Worst signing:Did we not pay £50k for Byrne? Although we also paid money for McQuilken and Lee Hinds. Tommy Wright has to be up there.

Worst Game of the Decade: Loads of obvious ones, but ones that I was present at... There was one New Years game against Kilmarnock under Pele that we were absolutely woeful in I think we won but a worse game of football I have never witnessed. I think the highlight may have been Shearer trying to lay the nut on the ref.

Your probably right, but with so many choices at left back...

The only position with a bigger pool of players would have been up front, I was tempted to go for an Ardilles-esque 1 -10 formation.

Dempsey was the white Veira and Touzani was alright.

Agree with minijc I liked Dempsey and Karim. Neither Paatelainen brother played, but neither did Gillies in this decade. Also I thought Pasquinelli looked decent maybe if he hadn't got injured so early in his Aberdeen career my opinion may not have been such. I also don't understand the dislike of Cobain (also ally s) another who was blighted by injury and incidentally did not actually play for us in the "Noughties".

Hate to be a pedant, but I think Cobian only played for us in 99.  Did Gillies play for us in this decade? Not sure to be honest. (could be argued he didn't play for us in the previous decade either...)

He was an Aberdeen player (Cobian) in the 00s so I thought that'd count?

According to soccerbase and Wiki Cobian was an Aberdeen player until the end of the 99/00 season.

I'll have re-think on my right back though as he didn't appear to play for us in the 00s.

@ ally s. Who knows, tbf I thought he was from the 00's, I'm just bored so thought I'd look up soccerbase (Mainly because I was sure Gilles left well before he did). I found that Mark Peat actually started a game for us maybe he should have been my goalie pick .

Biggest single disappointment of the decade: Lack of ambition and direction

Worst Aberdeen Player of the Decade: Bryan Prunty. The worst player I've ever seen pull on a red shirt (I'm not counting guys who played one game then we never saw again). Utter fucking ding.

Worst homegrown player: Scott Muirhead. Lanky streak of pish was how I described him on his debut and he never did anything to make me change my mind.

Worst signing: should really be Prunty as per my first answer, but for the money spent and the perserverance with actually playing the guy, I'll say Richie Byrne.

Worst Game of the Decade: QotS, felt physically sick after that. Some of the other heavy defeats in the early part of the decade were hard to take but not altogether surprising.  QotS was unexpected and was pretty monumental.  You could go on for ages with the "if onlys..."

Biggest single disappointment of the decade:  Will have to go with Baggy on this one... the whole rotten saga.

Sure it was Bird that lived above my sister, always seemed a nice quiet lad and there was never any parties or loud music from upstairs apparently. Probably just wasn't loud and arrogant enough to make it as a footballer.
