Reekie_Red Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 The site has undergone a major upgrade today. As such, you'll notice some things in different places, and some things don't exist whatsoever (such as the arcade scores, sorry!). I'll gradually be bringing the different features of the site back online over the next 2 days, bit by bit. But if you notice any niggling problems, report them on this thread, or email me on reekie_red at hotmail.com Quote
glasgow sheep Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 did we not have buttons in the quick reply box? Quote
glasgow sheep Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 reekie wtf have you done? My avatar is fucked, inbedded youtube doesn't exist and for some reason half way through typing a reply the boxes just freeze, meaning I can't add or delete anything Quote
El Padre™ Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 Aye it's all gone a bit funky.... Quote
Reekie_Red Posted August 29, 2009 Author Report Posted August 29, 2009 Works fine for me on Firefox. What browser you chaps using? Quote
glasgow sheep Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 ok it's letting me post ok, but youtube videos are still missing I think, as are buttons in the quick reply box. Am also using Firefox Quote
Kowalski Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 Looks good to me on Firefox. Still get the IP 2 seconds message though. Quote
mizer Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 Yup. I've not added the youtube embedding yet. And I'm still utilising the standard quick-reply, rather than the advanced one that includes smileys etc. These will be gradually added back on over the next day or two. Something that is a priority is the realtime chat. The software I've been using so far (X7 Chat) hasn't been updated by the developers in over a year and is now no longer compatible with the new forum software I've just installed. Currently looking at alternatives, and I hope to have a new chatroom in place for the Motherwell match kickoff Good show. Quote
mizer Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 There is no longer a link at the bottom of pages to return to the main page. Quote

Reekie_Red Posted August 29, 2009 Author Report Posted August 29, 2009 New chat system in place. http://www.donstalk.co.uk/messageboard/chat/ Can I get any budding testers to try this link and see if you can successfully use the realtime chat system? Quote
quirie Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 Whats that roll dice thing on the chat? The look of the website in my opioion looks better now Quote
glasgowdon Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Drop down menu at the foot of each forum seems to take a couple of open/closes before you can see all of the forums. Quote
dave_min Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 The link to the homepage is missing from the bottom of each page. When posting the text in the reply box is HUGE! The unread posts link at the top is on 2 lines now. Thats all i've noticed so far. Quote
dave_min Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 The search box isn't working either? Quote
mizer Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 Im nae keen on the new software when you quote someone it takes you to the quick reply. Quote
dave_min Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 Im not a fan of the new site (yet) Quote
glasgowdon Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 It was better before, doing a straight swap between old and new was a bit tactless. Quote
Reekie_Red Posted September 14, 2009 Author Report Posted September 14, 2009 It's Ace-ik, min!!! Ace-ik? Would ye go as far as to say it's doss-ik? Being honest, I actually tested the newer software out considerably on a test version of DonsTalk that I have set up on a different server and everything works fine from my testing. But the things that are cropping up are things I simply wasn't able to test on my own, so decided to launch the new software on the running version of DonsTalk and iron out any issues as you guys find them. Reekie_Red Posted September 14, 2009 Author Report Posted September 14, 2009 Was it not possible to implement one new feature at a time? Yes. But in order to upgrade the site to the new software version, I had to disable almost all the little tools, addons and features moments before upgrading. After upgrading the site I reenabled most of the tools, but despite testing these successfully on the test-site, it's only once the site is in use by you guys that the issues are starting to appear. For example, there's heaps of features that I don't use on a regular basis (some not at all!) that I know some of you do use. So testing the new software was only really achievable by getting you guys to point out any problems you're having. Quote
