Aberdeen assistant manager Jimmy Nicholl has urged his players to prove their professionalism when they travel to Ayr United on Wednesday night.

 

And with the pain of losing to Queen of the South in the Scottish Cup semi-final still fresh in the minds of the players, Nicholl wants the Dons to ensure they are in the right frame of mind for the match to avoid becoming victims of another cup shock.

 

Nicholl said: "You always find you will lose a game if you don't go about your job properly. If you're overconfident then you'll become casual and if you're casual it will lead to mistakes and goals and it just snowballs from there."

Wondering if Nicholl may be in charge tomorrow night and JC of scouting? May be a good thing as the last time JN was in charge we won 10-0

Langfield wins. One of the dodgiest displays from him since Munich. His handling was rubbish and when is he ever going to learn that he isn't going to get time on the ball. He cost us goals last season with his dribbling and kicking ineptitude and it looks like he's at it again so early in the season.

Time to get rid and bring in a safe pair of hands.

The thing is, he is far better than Bossu

Dutch defender Quido Lanzaat has finished his trial at Aberdeen and returned to Bulgaria today. Jimmy Calderwood has not ruled out the possibility of the former Holland U21 player joining the Dons before the transfer window closes next Monday.

 

Jimmy told RedTV "The player has not done himself any harm. He improved every day in training. He has gone back today. It was good he got to see the game on Saturday to get a feel for Scottish football."

 

"We have a few irons in the fire and I am sure there will be something happening before Saturday. We know who we want and we will do our best to get them."
