  1. Sone Aluko and Josh Walker will miss Aberdeen’s final match of the season against Rangers as they will be on international duty with the England under-19s.

The decision to release the duo effectively ends their time at Pittodrie as both players’ loan deals expire at the end of the season.

Aluko is returning to rele-gated Birmingham for pre-season training and Walker will head back to Middlesbrough. Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood will attempt to bring the pair back on a new loan deal next season, but said he did not want to stand in their way from playing for their country.

He said: “If we still had a chance of getting third spot then I would not have released them.â€

ABERDEEN are on the verge of signing Cardiff City goalkeeper David Forde, according to reports in London.

The 28-year-old former West Ham keeper has been on loan at Bournemouth and is also a target for League 1 side Millwall.

Forde almost signed for Dundee United in January but the Arabs were blocked by Fifa rules forbidding players playing for three clubs in one season. Forde had already appeared for Luton Town and Cardiff.

Aberdeen midfielder Barry Nicholson believes it is time to introduce goal-line technology in football after being denied a goal in the Dons’ 2-1 defeat at Motherwell on Saturday.

With the scores at 1-1 Nicholson appeared to have given Aberdeen a late lead at Fir Park but assistant referee Martin Cryans ruled the ball had not crossed the line, although television replays showed the opposite.

The Steelmen proceeded to claim all three points as Chris Porter scored a late winner after Sone Aluko had pulled the Dons level with a spectacular volley.

Defeat ended Aberdeen’s hopes of finishing third in the SPL and qualifying for next season’s Uefa Cup. It was the second controversial decision to cost them in the space of a few weeks.

Zander Diamond had a goal ruled out at Celtic Park three weeks ago when no offence had taken place and Nicholson said the two refereeing errors have hurt his side.

He said: “I thought the ball was in and the television replays showed it was.

“It is another refereeing decision which has cost us. It should have stood and that would have changed the complexion of the game. At 2-1 up we would have sat in a bit more but instead we were pushing forward for the win and got caught on the counterattack.

“It is a difficult one for us to take. Games change on refereeing decisions and it seems to be happening quite often.

“I am not going to criticise referees, they have a difficult job, but two big decisions recently have really cost us.â€

Nicholson continued: “We had the goal disallowed at Parkhead which cost us a point and then the one on Saturday might have cost us three.

“It is about time to look at using technology. I would not want to see the game stopping for every decision but certainly for things such as the ball crossing the line.

“It is disappointing we have not made it back into Europe. We were written off by a lot of people but we managed to hang in there and almost got it down to the last game.â€

Nicholson is hoping to have his future secured within the next two weeks. The midfielder is a free agent in the summer and is in discussion with several clubs in the English Championship and League 1.

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood also held more talks on Friday with Reds forward Lee Miller, who is also out of contract.

The 24-year-old, however, was unable to give the club a firm decision on his plans.

The attacker is keeping his options open but Calderwood wants an answer either way to allow him to plan for next season.

  4. Poor poor performance by the team, another occasion when the team never turned up again this season. Baffling why Walker was taken off for Aluko, as he was the only person on the park who looked up for the game.

And more evidence our manager is on crack

I thought we started well and dominated the opening half hour

  5. Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood is optimistic that Alan Maybury, Sone Aluko and Darren Mackie will return to the squad.

Zander Diamond is suspended, while Jamie Smith, Lee Mair, Richie Byrne and Derek Young are all injured.

Aberdeen (from): Langfield, Maybury, Considine, Bus, Touzani, Foster, Walker, Severin, Duff, De Visscher, Mackie, Lovell, Miller, Maguire, Aluko, Pawlett, Ross, Soutar.

Motherwell (from): G Smith, McLean, Hammell, Craigan, Reynolds, Lappin, Lasley, Hughes, Malcolm, Porter, McCormack, Clarkson, Fitzpatrick, D Smith, Murphy, Daniels, McGarry, Meechan.

I think we will perform well tomorrow, however only get a draw dashing our hopes.

Dons striker gets another postcard from Blackpool

    Published: 09/05/2008

ENGLISH Championship side Blackpool has revived its bid to sign Aberdeen attacker Lee Miller.

The Seasiders attempted to recruit the 24-year-old in January but the Dons labelled the bid derisory.

That has not deterred Blackpool and they will step up their efforts.

Miller has yet to make a decision on the new contract on offer at Pittodrie and Dons manager Jimmy Calderwood wants an answer sooner rather than later.

The forward, who is available without a fee under freedom of contract, is assessing his options and is attracting interest from several English and Scottish clubs.

It is understood Miller has made it clear he is reluctant to join another SPL side and is only considering offers from outside Scotland.

Calderwood is keen to press ahead with his own plans for next term, with Dundee United’s Mark Kerr remaining high on his wanted list.

The Dons are one of six clubs interested but may be put off by the midfielder’s wage demands.

Former St Johnstone forward Keigan Parker is another potential target, having been linked to the Dons.

Parker left Blackpool yesterday with 11 other players as they begin rebuilding for next season. The 26-year-old’s contract expired at the end of the season and he rejected the offer of a new deal earlier in the year.

The attacker had been linked with moves to Nottingham Forest and Swansea but interest from both clubs has dimmed.

A proposed move to Barnsley was abandoned in January as the Tykes failed to meet Parker’s wage demands, but the Yorkshire club could yet make another approach.

Parker spent four seasons at the Lancashire club, scoring 41 goals in his first three seasons at Bloomfield Road.

He scored in Blackpool’s play-off final against Yeovil last season to help clinch a place in the Championship.

Parker’s departure, with two other forwards, has cleared the way for another move for Miller.
