  1. I see Sheilds has said we are the worst Aberdeen side he has seen in years and he is ashamed to have lost to us

    Shiels: Dons' worst side ever

Apr 27 2008 By Euan Mclean

DEAN SHIELS reckons Hibs blew a big chance in the race for Europe - by failing to beat the worst Aberdeen side he has ever seen.

The Northern Irishman refused to speak about the sending offs that wrecked Hibs' hopes of a fightback because he reckons referees are seeking attention.

But he didn't hold back with his views of Aberdeen and believes that makes his side's failure to take all three points even more disappointing.

Shiels said: "We were confident we could win. Since I came to Scotland this is the poorest Aberdeen team I've seen. They were there for the taking - but we failed to do that.

"We were looking good when we took the lead but are not making teams have to work hard to score against us and were punished for that again.

"Thierry's red card killed our chances of coming back. Obviously the referee deemed what he said to him as a sending off offence so I will let him handle that.

"It's not my job to talk about the referee. I don't want to give him any limelight because I think that's what some of them want.

"It's a massive chance blown because when we saw the result of the earlier game at Motherwell we felt we could push on towards Europe. We failed.

"But we are still in the race and believe we can finish in third place."

Meanwhile, Dons goal hero Darren Mackie (far left) says their target is to hunt Hibs down and leapfrog them in the table to finish a disappointing season on as big a high as possible.

He said: "Hibs are our target, definitely. There are three games left to go and we're four points behind them after this win.

"We know it's going to be difficult but we want to finish as high up the league as possible."

Dry yer eyes you hibee bastard!

  2. As I said to you yesterday manc the lack of dons about was scary.

On the way up there was our 9 plus another 3 I know who had hospitality booked. There were only 2 identifiable dons getting on the train on the way up and that was at Stonehaven which normally has a crowd getting on. Pre-match in Archies was dead until about 2ish when it began to get busy. If the sun hadnt been out I'm pretty sure that the crowd would have been sub 8000, plus you have to take into account hibs seemed to have taken up a decent crowd.

  3. Can I clarify to you all who keep sending me texts saying it must have been some game - no it was dreadful for the first 55mins until hibs scored then we changed it around and began to look like we could have them.

We were flattered by a hibs team who never turned up to a man, just like our team did against QotS. We had the better chances and finished them off and could have and more goals at the end.

Never seen Pittodrie that empty on a Saturday, cant blame people for not turning up due to our recent form. 3 of our 9 on the train up didnt even bother going to the game.

Bus has signed with Dutch first division side Go Ahead Eagles (great name!) 150px-Go_Ahead_Eagles.png

Dave Bus naar Go Ahead Eagles

In 2004 haalde De Graafschap hem daar weg.

    Oi Manc translate please

  5. Yeovil still interested in him? Surely they'd have made an offer by now he's been there on trial nearly every transfer window since he signed.

Surprised Yeovil would touch anything from Aberdeen after taking Gary Dempsey off our hands  8)

  6. Jimmy Calderwood has warned there will be more job losses at Aberdeen if the players don't deliver over the final weeks of the season. The Dons boss has begun a massive rebuilding task with 16 players set to leave next month. But with third place in the SPL still a possibility, he will add to his workload to target new talent if performances don't match his expectations. Insisting that a win over Hibs tomorrow could keep his side in contention for a UEFA Cup place, Calderwood said: "Players are judged in every game because it's an ongoing process.

"There are a couple of guys whose futures still have to be decided so there is a lot at stake in the rest of the campaign.

"We also have to think about what we do with the players who are leaving but as long as we still have something to play for, I'll field our strongest team.

Jimmy threatening to axe more players........I can bet he is thinking of the players he was sticking up for yesterday  ::)

  7. Diamond Facing A Rap Over Blunder Ref Brines

ZANDER DIAMOND will still face an SFA rap over his outburst

Diamond branded the official a joke for ruling out his injury-time equaliser against Celtic for an alleged handball at Parkhead on Saturday.

Brines later revealed he cocked up, insisting the Aberdeen defender's goal should have stood.

The referee confessed to making the major blunder after watching replays of the incident on television.

But his admission of blame won't prevent Diamond being carpeted by Hampden beaks. The Scotland Under 21 star's conduct was discussed at the SFA'S General Purposes Committee on Tuesday.

They've written to Diamond and asked him to explain his post-match comments at the next GPC meeting in June.

SFA spokesman Rob Shorthouse said: "Players are allowed to disagree with decisions but our rules clearly state they cannot question the competence of an official.

"We have written to the player and he has been invited to the next General Purposes Committee meeting to explain himself."

  8. Chemical Brothers - Under The Influence

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo.................!

    *speakers now knackered

Only seen them once live, at the dance festival outside Edinburgh in 1999. Can remember them at the start of the song dropping the bass for at least 30 seconds, first the ground shook, then the whole of my body was shaking from it - fucking crazy, never experienced it ever again to close that severity since. One of the best performances I have ever seen.

Cant wait to see them again on Friday night of T in the park
