The tactics and team selection were questionable at mordor to say the least, at that point Calderwoods tombola waa getting a good old workout but despite that we were really dealing with sevco quite comfortably up to the point they got their first goal and had Stockley not missed with his header (not quite in Storey's league of shocking misses but not far behind) then I actually think we would have scored another couple as they would have been forced to go gung ho and we could have picked them off on the counter. Of course at that point we were also in the midst of depression after our horrendous League Cup performance and I freely admit I was questioning if Deek had taken us as far as he possibly could. Thankfully we started picking a settled team, got McLean playing in his correct position and the season has gone from strength to strength ever since. Our winning streak at home cannot continue forever but Sevco truly are honking right now and have a defence decimated by injuries. I fully expect us to sweep them aside on Sunday but with how things have gone I also know we are due a bad performance sooner rather than later ( it happens to everyone eventually). Just hope its after this weekend.

Hoping Plastic Whistle come through and get that 6th spot. Our fixtures should then be fairly easy to predict as we are due 3 at home and 2 away post split. We know Sevco are at home to the Dhims in the first round of matches. Now Partick werent actually "meant" to finish top 6 so even though we should really be due to play them away as a 4th fixture, it is them who will inevitably suffer and play us 3 times at Pittodrie to give us an even split of total home/away matches over the full season. Thus post split we will play Sevco and Hearts away and Celtic, St Johnstone and Thistle at Pittodrie. I predict that we will get Hearts away on the same weekend sevco play Celtic. By this time we could have mathematically wrapped up 2nd spot if the correct results go our way but lets assume sevco have kept the race for 2nd theoretically alive. The SPFL will do all they can to assist them in keeping the race alive so I predict 2nd round of matches we will get Celtic at Pittodrie. 3rd up we will get Sevco at Mordor. We will then finish up with the fermers and thistle at home final 2 fixtures.

I suspect you are probably correct Rico and that 15-16k is probably doable on a Pittodrie rebuild. However (and I'm no civil engineer only going by supposition and whats been said before) the problem is purely and simply rebuilding the mainer. As "main" stands go it is currently totally undersized. However to rebuild it as a true "mainer" would demand the rerouting of Pittodrie Street and all the services (gas electric sewer cable etc) which makes it an economically unfeasible proposition. We could no doubt rebuild a modern looking stand on its present footprint but it would look like and be of a similar capacity of a mcdiarmid mainer. Thus to achieve the 15-16k the new soother would in effect become our new true "mainer" and merkland road also gaining significant size..... Dont think the resulting outcome would look particularly aesthetically pleasing. And then there is the perennial problem of installing a pitch that woould adhere to current UEFA regulations. I guess there must be a way of solving out current perennial tattie field of a pitch but again I dont think it would be cheap. Kingsford it is....

I was bored with Clyde superscoreboard at half time today so managed to blag a stream and watched second half of sevco v murderwell. Sevco hooked 3 of their back 4 at half time. They did pretty much go all out attack and equalised but by Christ they were awful and I still cant figure out how Well never won the game they had a perfectly good goal chalked off a minute after the sevco equaliser and a few very good saves from hun goalkeeper. If they set up like that against us ( surely to god they wont) we could see 5 goals flying past their keeper.

As I said before he is captain of Accies at 21 although they do have a history of doing this and a previous young captain there who got bigged up (Ziggy Gordon) actually turned out to be a pile of poo. For what it's worth Devlin seems to be a traditional type no nonsense centre half who carries a bit of a goal threat in the oppo box at set pieces. If the rumour were to be true I certainly wouldn't be unhappy as he would be relatively cheap in wages and could turn out to be a decent future asset. However as I have also stated I would definitely prefer Lindsay from Thistle as he is a more modern type centre half who can make decent passes out of defence as well as doing the defensive duties well and looks to have a bit more pace than Devlin. I suspect however that his wage demands, due to the constant rumours of moves to English Championship sides (Leeds especially) may put him out of our range
