  1. Ball was signed on loan for sevco by the breadman and possibly also knew him from his time as a youth player at Watford. So Warburton obviously agrees with DM here.....he's a valuable, versatile addition to a squad. Obviously his face just didn't fit at Rotherham. It happens. Remember the greatest manager in the history of football was once fired by St Mirren....
  2. No He's found his level. The way we play we need every player to be able to contribute to the team effort. Shankland is like Rooney (but not as good)...an out and out finisher who would contribute very little else. If the likes of St Mirren or Motherwell aren't interested then we certainly shouldn't be either
  3. Ball has landed on his feet there. He was by no means as bad as some of our fans made out and would have been a solid addition had he joined us permanently. There had been talk of him joining Ipswich and I thought we might have been a better option than them but QPR....well he was never going to turn that down. Wonder if he will resurface on yet another loan after Warburton gets his jotters?
  4. Apparently the guy is Scots born though based in the States. As Rico says....with a newish stadium now paid for they should be able to plough much more cash into the team now. Should see them become top team in Edinburgh for the foreseeable future and be able to challenge ourselves and sevco for second/third. Let's hope Cormack decides to dip into his pocket sooner than we expect
  5. Absolutely no to Gauld. He's had numerous loans at lower level clubs and done the square root of f@ck all at the lot of them. Presuming Sporting will have paid up the balance of his contract so, in the absence of offers from big (ish) clubs he shouldn't be too hard to deal with. Needs to go to a club like St J to get a regular game and attempt to re-establish his early reputation. Even a return to the caravan dwellers wouldn't be a bad option. But no way will we be interested at this point in time
  6. Cavey on the Hat has gone all in with a very specific (ITK??) one McGeouch to sign on Wednesday...…£150k on a 4 year deal. Supposedly info via Hibs ITKers. I'll believe it when I see him holding the scarf aloft. Would rather we went for Mulumbu for a couple of years tbh
  7. Although taking a look at some of the other games going on.....it's not too bad by comparison (as things stand) And to make the day even better.....there's a flute band marching past as I speak. Right in the middle of a thunderstorm. I hope one of the fuckers gets fried
  8. Its a dreadful result even for a friendly. At absolute best, Connahs Quay would be a bottom half Championship side if they played up here and more likely SFL1
  9. Nothing else on TV so watching France v USA. 5 mins stoppage time just started, USA 2-1 up. Been a decent watch tbf and England get the winners. Fairly certain either of these teams will take care of them
  10. Hmmm. Lennon has just spent £8million on a new centre back and still needs another 6 or 7 players minimum to replace those that left. With that kind of spending power they should blow us and sevco away. If they somehow manage to be less than 3 points clear of the pack come January then I could envisage Celtic binning Lennon and bringing in O'Neill to guide them towards 9 and 10IAR
  11. I thought it was a 2-way option to extend by a year and it was Sunderland who exercised the option. Apparently they are after a fee now anyway
  12. They also need promoted this coming season or else disaster awaits. There's no way we, or any other Scottish club that might be interested, would be paying the £8k/week he's currently getting
  13. He's unhappy at Peterborough and they'll be desperate to punt. I'd be amazed if Killie pay more than £25-50k in the end
  14. Oh steady on with the Tavernier tripe. Half the sevconians think he isn't good enough for their team and tbf defensively is a bit of a bombscare. No denying his attacking qualities and for sure if he had a Scottish granny would be our first choice international right back but Tierney is just better overall in the same way that Robertson is better than Tierney
  15. That's how I took it. Gives us the option to bin next summer if he turns out to be pants. Conversely, we risk losing him to another side willing to pay more to Breda and/or the player if he shines. On balance probably the correct decision though
  16. I don't...…….they have a top heavy squad already and now need to ship players out. If he comes north of the border, it'll be to the dhims
  17. Arsenal don't seem to think so. Or Leicester...… Possibly Napoli also
  18. There were rumours of us being interested in Miller last summer. For someone of 40 he is undoubtedly in fantastic shape and looked half decent in a totally crappy Dundee side last season but sorry Seabass...…….it's just a no thank you. I'd imagine Miller is more interested in another crack at management following his 6 week stint at Livi. St Mirren job looks like it's probably available.....
  19. At first glance it would be faf if Slippy were indeed to fuck off to Derby (or Newcastle). However sevco would then be due a whack of compo from whatever team he went to and the law of averages says that they must hit upon a fairly competent manager sooner or later. So on balance I'd rather he stays on. They'll fire him if he goes another full season without a trophy (and maybe fairly quickly if they are a good few points behind Celtic at the halfway stage, possibly not even in second position in the league). At that point sevco become liable for Slippy's remaining salary plus needing to fund a replacement (with Celtic one title away from 10IAR they'd be desperate and likely go over what they can afford getting in a big name with a decentish reputation.....my bet would be Sam Allardyce who looks finished down south)
  20. Don't agree that Robertson is streets ahead but is the better overall of the 2. As a pure defender, Tierney edges it...and gives an option of covering left centre back in emergency that Robertson doesn't. As an attacking full back Robertson has the edge and is quicker over the ground. As I've said before....Robertson's value is estimated now at £60millon or so. If Tierney was at a club in the EPL of a similar level as Celtic...maybe Wolves or West Ham.....he'd be worth at least £25-£30million. I don't think Celtic will get that purely because they're Scottish but I think they're correct to reject £15million. Probably they'll bite at £20millon
  21. Why would May agree to that? He's got a contract worth £4k/week for another 2 years and nobody in the bottom half of the league could get anywhere near to matching it. We would have to either give him a pay-off lump sum, probably at least 75% of what the remainder of his contract was worth or cover whatever fraction of his wages that any new team taking him on were unable to pay to top him up that £4k/week. I think the best solution is a 6 month loan. If he does well he can come back for a fresh start or the loaning club may extend the agreement if we really don't want him. If he does just as badly as here.... well we have saved a few quid (not a lot tbh) and he returns probably to see out his contract which we will have budgeted for anyway

    Andy Murray

Tbf although they got the job done in the Champions tiebreak, the other duo bottled it big time despite playing the better tennis up to that point. Early days I know but Murray's serve...……..never his strong point anyway...….just wasn't anywhere near as good as it would need to be for a singles return. He has a decent partner for the Wimbledon men's doubles and might do ok but can't see them winning it. Might have a chance in the mixed......Sharapova has apparently put her name forward despite their recent acrimony.
  23. I think the sevco rumour about Lowe was just paper talk but if Tierney does leave Celtic will be in need of a replacement. I'm not sure what Derby would value Lowe at now but if Celtic offered £3million with a future sell on fee I doubt they'd turn it down.
  24. Another Lewis vote But controversially...nearly went for Cosgrove. £20k punt that for all the world looked like £20k down the toilet but Mcinnes saw something there that no one else did and unless he breaks his neck will net us a tidy profit somewhere down the line. As others have said.....Logan was tremendously consistent in his first couple of seasons. But he was rank rotten for the first 2/3 of season 17/18 and was really no better for the majorirty of last season. His injury requiring surgery I think may have done him a favour, giving him a decent rest. All this toing and froing to England to visit his kids must take a toll.
  25. Rhecord saying the rumoured McKenna bid isn't true. As for Gallacher……..seems he is indeed a right back though has played further forward earlier in his career, England U18 caps too. Still a strange one. You'd think Virtanen would be adequate back up to Logan at this point and signing this guy will only hinder Virtanen' s progress although I guess we might send him out on loan in turn. Still no fackin left back though!!!!!
