I'm starting to assume Devlin is fucked.....
-
He needed a break from playing as his form was at best under par for the best part of 18 months. I'm a bit meh at this tbh. If we are to progress as a team I think we need a bit better.
-
Gauld was injured towards the end but was totally root in the games he played when first joining up. The boy Omyeonga(sp) looked a million times better in the games he played. Don't think we should be going there. Agree McNulty would be a fantastic acquisition and probably fairly cheap but I guess Hibs would be favourites.
-
Celtic are rumoured to be selling Tierney in the summer for £25million. And I don't think he is all that much better than Lowe... My question was hypothetical in that I don't believe it will happen. However if Celtic are needing a left back? There have already been rumours of sevco interest. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see Celtic go for him as Tierney's replacement.
-
At the prices rumoured, we stand to gain something between £4-6million. At best DM will get a million of it with the rest going straight into the Kingsford pot. And rightly so.

The way I see it is that until we get an investor willing to pump multi millions into the team, we will always be a side that relies on buying cheaply and selling for a profit to keep us financially healthy. Cosgrove cost £20k. A total punt that in October looked very much like it had failed. Suddenly he caught fire and started banging in the goals, albeit 7 from the penalty spot. But let's face it. An EPL striker he will never be. Probably not even top end of the Championship....at best he might get a gig in the lower reaches of it but even then it would likely be as an impact sub rather than a regular starter. EFL1 clubs should definitely be interested though...and a good number of those pay transfer fees and wages that blow us out the water. Cosgrove's limitations mean his value will never be in the multi-millions (albeit with the length of contract we have him tied down on we can effectively ask what we like right now). A realistic valuation is probably £700k-£1million. If we got offered that it represents roughly 3000-5000% return on our initial investment. A fantastic return. Lowe at the minute has no such ceiling. But (especially if Derby go up) through no fault of hs own may find himself 4th choice left back as Derby would be forced to buy virtually a whole new first team to try to survive. Even if Derby don't go up...Lowe will still be third choice behind Malone and Forsyth who will be fit by the start of the new season. At his age, the last thing he needs is to be playing reserve team football so Derby will probably try to punt him out on loan again. But if they do go up...well they might just decide that if they got a reasonable offer for him that selling might be the best option for both parties. Again Derby have him on a long term contract so could ask what they like but i doubt they'd be too difficult to bargain with given they've had him as a youngster....he might well be valued pretty much the same as Cosgrove. Only Lowe's potential ceiling is a helluva lot higher than Cosgrove's. Even if he cost a million....if he had a season for us similar to the one he just had I reckon he would instantly become worth 4-5 times that outlay. Again fantastic business. We are rumoured to be after 2 strikers in this window. Who they will be I have no idea, but I doubt they'll want to play second fiddle to Cosgrove. I just wonder if he club already knows of interest in the big man
-
I still would have preferred Moyes Far more tested as a manager at a higher level
-
Hypothetical question.... If we were to sell Cosgrove and the money raised were used to buy Lowe......would you take that deal or stick with Cosgrove and try to get another left back for free?
-
Yes for the right money. What that money would be is obviously up to McInnes/the board but a £20k punt definitely has a cash in value. Should we not receive an offer that the club deems acceptable then of course I'm perfectly happy to have him stay until/if we do
-
Woods winning the Masters was indeed wonderful. I think it would have been good for the game had he been able to overhaul Nicklaus' major record but sadly I believe his injuries have cost him any chance of doing so. As has been rightly said, he can't get anywhere near the length of today's big hitters who are generally straight off the tee anyway but even punitive rough seen at the USPGA and US Open in particular means that even if they do go offline into it they are still only hitting 9 irons into holes 450 yards long. In the 70s, with the equipment they had, even the longest hitters would be hitting 5 or 6 irons in from the fairway. Woods IMO only now has the Masters where length really isn't a great advantage or the Open where strategy and shotmaking are at a premium to go for to get Nicklaus' record. I think he has one more major in him but will come up short

My source was younger brother. He's a part time match reporter and gets fed titbits from time to time. But yeah, the Hat are running with it ana

Well that's that then. Sevco effectively did to us what Celtic did to them last year..... Very poor first 45 and we could consider ourselves very fortunate to go in level, our performance certainly didn't warrant it. That said, second half was much improved and some of our passing and flowing moves were a treat to watch....Wilson's goal was a thing of beauty. Hibs should really have equalised but Cerny produced a fantastic stop from a point blank range shot. Other highlights....Cosgrove hitting the advertising hoarding between the stands in the first half. Had it not hit it the Sunday afternoon shopping crowds on Princes Street were severely at risk. And May......what can I say. That shot I'd never have believed it was possible to do that had I not witnessed it with my own eyes (wont spoil it for you all that havent seen it....watch the highlights (just wear an adult nappy cos you will piss yourselves) Glad Shinnie got the win in his final game. And though he was hardly seen since the incident in the League cup Final, nice to see GMS get a 20 minute cameo in his last ganme for us too. See you all in July
-
I think he will barely play for them and be punted off on loan possibly in January, certainly next summer. Only thing we gained from him was depriving Killie of his services (his true level). We were forced to play him and in doing so he weakened us, although injuries sort of forced McInnes' hand a few times. Won't be missed

New 4 year deal to be announced next week Ugh
-
If Derby go up they'll pretty much buy a whole new first 11 as what they have is in no way capable of jkeeping them there. They paid £3million for Malone, their present incumbent last summer but who only got in after Forsyth (been on the fringes of a Scotland call up for years) got another bad injury. Forsyth will be close to fitness by the start of the new season. Should they go up, Forsyth likely becomes surplus to requirements and probably allowed to go for free if he can get himself fixed up. If they don't go up, he will be Malone's back up. Where does this leave Lowe though? As has been said he signed a new contract a year ago. But at best will still be 3rd choice come the new season...possibly 4th. I think Derby would rather punt him out on loan another year to see what happens but if they go up....they might just be tempted to sell if they get a decent offer in. Lowe looked utterly unprepared for Championship football in the couple of games he played. If rumours are to be believed, Brenda wants to have Tierney follow him down the road to Leicester in summer for a fee of £25 million or so. So Celtic would definitely be in the market for a left back should this occur. THey'd easily meet any fee Derby would want ( I think they'd take £750k for Lowe if someone offered it). Sevco would also be able to pay for him...theyve got 4 utter shyte left backs on their books as it stands but 2 are likely to be released and apparently the boy Barisic is pretty unpopular with SlippyG and may be sold back in the summer. I dont think Lowe would entertain going there but Celtic would probably be irresistable to him. If we were to sell McKenna and/or Cosgrove we might be able to pay the fee Derby would ask. But Celtic would blow us out the water wages wise.
-
At what point did Wiggy implement McInnes' wage cut to £12k/week???
-
Its in the Retard Jackshun taking a punt as he knows sevco have 4 utterly shyte left backs (2 likely to be released in June...Wallace and Hodson) Clue is his opening line "The Record understands".....newspaper gobbledegook for "lets crate a controversial story and create some clickbait"
-
Cosgrove doesn't score individual goal. He requires decent service. Lowe provides decent service. Cosgrove had a stellar 4 months. But utterly mince before and after. If we get a decent offer, in view of what we paid for him of course we absolutely cash in
-
Utter nonsense. Ball has been one of our most consistent performers this season. Every team needs a couple of utility players who are relatively cheap. Unless we suddenly get a sugar daddy willing to pump millions into the playing side, Ball is the level of player we are at.
-
This ^^^
-
I've been saying that for a while. If we can punt Cosgrove in the summer it would be easily financed. Just not sure Lowe would fancy committing himself for 3 years up here....but the question should at least be asked
-
Shinnie is probably praying that Derby don't go up. 'Cos if they do his dream move will turn to shit when Derby spend their newfound wealth on a completely new starting 11 and Shinnie becomes a squad player at best. I don't think he will be immediately punted out on loan. But definitely a possibility in January. And if Derby stay up... a near certainty next summer.
-
Oh his Wigan salary will have set him up for life of that there's no doubt
-
I didn't want to say that earlier but yeah was last week I saw it ana I suppose if he signs he will be joining a league club (barring a miraculous Berwick comeback) but it's a helluva drop in standard. By all accounts was honking for Yinited in the past year though.
-
Of all the current Scottish managers, McInnes and Clarke are without doubt the guys who have the strongest case. You can probably throw in Moyes as well in recognition of his past exploits with Everton (though it has been underwhelming at best for the last 4 years). However I dont think either of DM or Clarke will take the job. Clarke wants back down south to be with his family. And DM is finally landing the training ground he has craved since he joined. FWIW i believe he has taken us as far as he can and it would be a good time go our seperate ways but when Mcinnes does eventually leave us, he's made no secret of the fact he wants another crack at management in England. Although there appears little evidence recently that after turning down Sunderand that English management wants another crack at Mcinnes. Had he been 10 years older I think he would jump at the appointment. But unless Moyes lands a club job in the summer, I think that is who will end up taking it.
