I explained it on the other GS thread....
-
He doesn't fit our system. We knew that from his first spell ( when he was also horrendously unfit). McInnes doesn't do "luxury" players who have to track back, tackle, close down space etc. And a luxury player is exactly what Stewart is... But.....he is also very much a one trick pony. His right foot is for standing on only. And it doesn't even do that very well. On his left foot....he is decentbut no more than that. Defenders know that he will always cut inside when he is on the right side of the pitch or head for the bye line on the left side. Allied to the fact he is slower than a wet weekend in Airdrie.....he should be nowhere near Pittodrie, That he looked good in a Dundee side that was absolutely honking is no great surprise. Same at Killie, albeit Killie are a bit better than the Dundee side due to having a better manager. Both allowed Stewart to be the luxury player, no defensive duties required as the other 9 players in either side were essentially athletes able to run all day but with limited footballing ability. Our luxury player is Cosgrove (Wilson is another but his game time is minimal at best). We cannot afford a second/third in Stewart. As I've said before....this guy has been available on a free transfer from Birmingham the past 2 summers. No one bit. Only Killie and us have showed the slightest interest, but not enough to sign him on a permanent contract (I do understand taking him on loan saves loads on wages.....but Killie, where he did fit in, lost him due to us being willing to stump up a higher proportion in subsidising his wages). I'm certain the sevco link is a pile of poop. There are rumours DM has offered Stewart a permanent deal with us. I hope they are untrue because I honestly cannot see many clubs, if any, clamouring to sign him once he becomes a free agent in July. Killie probably would but he would be taking a hit of at least 50% on his Birmingham wage to go there.

Broon ripping the pish out of the Sky Sports interviewer post match. Asked about the Kent incident...."I can't remember that". Then the Halliday incident after full time " He was congratulating me on our win" ....... whilst giving a sleekit grin as he spoke. As Jute says...the Compliance Officer should have plenty to occupy her tomorrow citing players from both sides. However I expect no action as she will be too busy ordering her monthly Avon delivery online to worry about assaults by players in a volatile match.

On further investigation ( pissing myself laughing at the meltdown on sevco media ) there's a thread started last night on Stewart. Seems the source of the rumour is a guy on a lesser known sevco fan site ("4 men had a dream" ) who is ITK and been told it is a done deal. Shinnie to sevco was supposedly a done deal 2 months ago on sevco media.... Anyway general orc consensus is they're a bit underwhelmed to say the least. I'd personally chauffeur him to Ibrokes if there was any chance of this being remotely a goer....purely to prevent McInnes sticking a 3 year deal under his nose.....sevco do the right thing and get this dud signed up!

Morelos Cunt just can't help himself. Wonder what grounds sevco will appeal this one on

I dare say he might do well at der Hun on the odd occasion he would get selected. For them, he would be a reasonably cheap option to have on the bench and bring on late in games when he might just be useful against a tiring defence. Couldn't see him starting more than 10 games a season there though....maybe even less. He would be joining the club he supports though and would probably get his Birmingham wages at least matched. Don't think he would give a flying f@ck if he wasn't getting played as long as he was picking up the wonga each week. EDIT.......just read the article in the Sunday Mail. "he won't be short of options, especially north of the border when his contract runs out on 30th June"......... Aye clubs were just queuing up to snap him up when Birmingham were willing to free him prior to us getting him on loan the first time. The article reads like a desperate attempt by his agent to drum up some interest by linking him with sevco. It says they want to sign him after his contract runs out. Well why not get him on a pre-contract right now?

I think the worst we will finish is 5th. But even if we were to finish 6th I'm certain McInnes is absolutely safe. The string of 2nd place finishes including twice ahead of sevco who have nearly 3 times our budget have ensured that one crap season will be tolerated. However it is a fact that with just over a year left on his contract, the board haven't made any moves to offer an extension. Possibly they may be aware that he intends letting hs contract run down and leave of his own accord at the end of next season. But if he is wanting to stay, I think he will either need to win the Scottish Cup or, once he has his hands on the training ground in summer, have us within 3 points of 2nd place (and within 6-8 of top at most) by Xmas or else I think the board will let his contract run down and start searching for his replacement.

Think that was the balance required to fully fund phase 1 at Kingsford. As long as that investment was just a starter for ten then he's more than welcome.

Absolutely awful second half performance after a pretty decent first half. Not sure about their penalty, thought Considine got the ball first and the boy jumped over Consi's leg but others saying it was a stonewaller, Whatever, the boy should have been halted by hook or by crook at least 5 yards sooner before he reached our box. Second goal....dear oh fucking dear. Considine fuck up missing the ball. McKenna goes to mop up but stoops down to head (at fkn waist height ) instead of just blootering the ball into the stand...misses and 3 seconds later the ball is nestling in the back of our neck. Joe....one of his very poor games that he seems to throw in 3-4 times a season. Lucky not to give away a second penalty ( I wonder if he got away with it as the ref maybe reckoned he got the first one wrong??) Ferguson...very good first half, anonymous second. Ditto Shinnie. Ball.....looked uncomfortable against the pace of their winger Mulraney. Stewart...........I've said it before and will say it again. Nothing good can ever come from selecting him. Utterly unsuited to our style of play and was like playing with a man down (yet again). McInnes......have no idea what he was seeing but it was obvious to everyone that Hearts had taken a grip of the game by 10 minutes into the second half. We needed a substitution....Stewart off and bolster the midfield or put Devlin on in a back 3 allowing Ball and Lowe to go into midfield (or even throw May on who at least would have harried the Hearts back 4 when they had possession}. DM does fuck all and they get their equaliser. Hearts continue to dominate...still nothing. Only acts once we go behind with 10 minutes left. And compounds things by whacking Devlin up top with 5 minutes to go Race for 3rd well and truly on.Killie have to be favourites and 2 more wins before the split could see them pretty much home and hosed unless we get our finger out. Both Edinburgh sides have to fancy their chances of overhauling us given our horrendous home form. Pissed off.com

Hivs getting the job done at Livi…..0-2 up with 3 minutes to go. Will put them on 48 points, Anything less than a win for us tomorrow and they're right back in the mix for 3rd place.

With both his knees having had cruciate repairs I cant envisage there will be a queue of clubs lining up to sign him once he is considered fit to play again ( with his contract at Watford being up in summer, I'd hope they continue to allow him to use their training/rehab facilities beyond this and not just cast him adrift). Of course there is a fair chance that he might never be considered fit to play football again, or certainly to a professional level. However assuming he does.....in the few games he played for us he looked a better option in central defence than Devlin. And Devlin was probably our best (certainly most consistent) player up till he got injured away with Scotland. Obviously we couldn't get anywhere near matching what he earns at Watford but his options are likely to be limited given his injury history. If he were happy to accept a (very) low basic wage but with (very good) bonus payments on a pay-as-you-play basis then I'd be happy to take a punt on him for a year, with an extension clause for a further year or 2 that triggers if he plays more than 30 games in the season. However if he wanted a minimum 2 year deal on wages that we pay our highest earners.....well I'd consider that too much of a risk.

Davie Moyes has expressed an interest. Probably the best we can hope for in the circumstances but my concern would be that if he steadied the ship and got a few reasonable results, he would be offski the minute an English club (not necessarily even EPL level) came calling. Having said that.............he might not be interested for too long on finding out the wages the SFA pay in comparison to other national associations. My concern would be that we end up with someone like Owen Coyle, or even worse, Fat Sally. My faith in the SFA to get this right is almost non-existant.

Roger Charlery aka Ranking Roger from The Beat. 56.....seemed older he was having top 10 hits when I was in 2nd/3rd year at high school but appears he was only 4 and a bit years older than me
-
Pains me to say it but England are on fire and play the game the way it should be played. Very easy on the eye and totally destroying teams right now. They've got a real shot at winning this. Unfortunately their pundits know this. Strap yourselves in for 2 years of utter bombastic shite in the media.
-
Well 1-0 up approaching HT....Kenny McLean scoring after 3 minutes. Over 80% possession and really should be further ahead but good goalkeeping plus some woeful final balls from Fraser meaning its still only one fuck up at the back from total humiliation. Fans starting to get restless
-
I cant see him getting a start today, unfortunately his performance on Thursday was shockingly bad and though I do believe the boy Palmer at right back was even worse, Shinnie was accountable for all 3 goals that Kazakhstan scored. That said, those that played in midfield were really not that far behind him in overall shyteness. Not one of them deserves to keep their place and had Tierney or Robertson been fit to start on Tuesday and Shinnie hadn't been involved (save for maybe a bench appearance) then most certainly he would be in line for a place today. However he was and I doubt that given the very public "blame McLeish/Shinnie" campaign in the press and media that his head could possibly be in the right place for this one.
-
There's no doubt his best position is defensive midfield. But there's also no doubt that he has played a helluva lot better than Logan did all this season when he took over the right back spot. Logan may have an excuse as he obviously required an operation but I don't think he was unfit since August. If we are to improve as a side, Logan needs replacing by a better right back. He's had an easy ride throughout his time with us, having no direct back up in the squad. However our finances obviously don't allow for 2 players in every position. Utility players like Ball, relatively cheap and able to cover a few positions are the answer. With a year left on his contract, I'd have no problem in allowing Logan to leave on a free in summer if he can find himself a club down south and getting in a younger upgrade.
-
Contract offer will be well deserved. Yes he is a utility player....but every squad needs 2 or 3 players capable of covering a few positions. Technically you could describe Shinnie as one.....though going on his performance yesterday it's doubtful he will play left back ever again such was his ineptitude. Ball gets a hard time off a lot of our fans for his performance in last year's Cup semi. He was god awful but it was a team decimated by injury and suspensions. He wasn't the only player to have a 'mare that day. He has more than made up for it with his level of consistency this season.
-
As bad as Shinnie and McKenna were.....the boy at right back was even worse. Midfield were dreadful. Up front that guy McBurnie wouldnt have looked out of place in the Banff and Buchan U14 Boys Brigade reserve league. McLeish looked ill.......really ill....in the post match interviews.
-
McKennas valuation has at least halved after that performance. And Shinnie will be lucky to ever get another cap. Looked like he had never played left back in his life.
-
Hes been embarrassing so far 2-0 down in 10 minutes
-
Cant see any other outcome now than May being forced out of office once her 3rd attempt fails...whether by Bercow not allowing it or being voted down yet again. New Tory leader to call General Election standing on a "continue Brexit" ticket, Labour on 2nd referendum ticket and SNP increasing their representation to around 40/42 MPs hoovering up disgruntled marginals from both main parties. Best guess Tories remain largest party but unable to form government even with DUP support. SNP to refuse coalition with Labour/Lib Dems so Tories eventually form minority government, second referendum to be held Octoberish which will be marginally for Remain. Disgruntled Brexiteers demand a "best of 3" third referendum but it never happens.... If that lot comes off I'll be investing in a crystal ball and starting a new career as Gypsy Rose Ten Caat

Record saying this morning he is definitely not going to sevco.... But possibly off to Luton ( the Sun agree)...
-
Absolutely concur that this is the market we should be looking in. However just do t think this guy is of the desired quality to improve the squad. If we were to sign anyone from Livi that would definitely improve us it would have to be Halkett. Pittman would be a gamble....DM gambled on Ferguson last summer and it's paid off handsomely. With a year left on his contract, Livi probably couldn't expect to ask more than £100k for him, but they can't be forced to sell so if he is as good as DM obviously thinks they might decide that they're better off keeping him and losing him for nothing at the end of his contract. Whatever happens, in the face of losing GMS and Shinnie, signing Pittman isn't exactly the marquee type signing that's going to enthuse the fans. We can't afford another Tansey or Forrester style failure.
