  1. Has a Scottish granny and could still play for Scotland as his 1 England cap was in a friendly. He did look decent at Dundee but think he's got a whole cupboard full of personal issues that would put DM off. I wouldn't mind the boy Kerr from Dundee as a replacement if/when McKenna gets flogged to the highest bidder. You would have to think Reynolds would get released in summer at the end of his contract. Shaughnessy would be decent cover and relatively cheap but doubt he'd come back unless he was first choice.
  2. Yep Steven Caulker. For some reason triggered a release clause in his contract on deadline day back in August but remains without a club. Supposedly back in April Dundee threw out what would have been a record transfer fee received from Rosenborg. Bet they wish they'd cashed in now.
  3. Holy phuq so that guy actually values Hendry at £7 million? Someone is slipping something into the communion wine in his chapel methinks
  4. It might teach supporters that bad behaviour won't be tolerated. Do feel a bit of sympathy for the Boca supporters as this was brought on purely by the actions of the River Plate support.....but it is a sad day where a game of football cannot be played in safety for either the teams involved or rival supporters. Personally I'd have awarded the tie to Boca. That way clubs might feel compelled to root out supporters who bring the name of their club into disrepute. What went on in Buenos Aires is obviously a criminal act and the perpetrators are no doubt in a minority compared to well behaved supporters. Life bans should be placed on anyone convicted. I hope our own club is investigating the knuckle dragging arsehole who racially abused Scott Sinclair at the LC Final. I posted my disgust about this on the Hat and was dismayed to see many other posters effectively saying "so what" and some even trying to justify it Down south, London Plod are looking for the Chelsea fan that similarly abused Raheem Sterling at the weekend. I reckon they'll have him arrested by midweek. Hopefully our own Plod eventually catch up with our perpetrator too.
  5. Bad news about GMS but absolutely the correct decision after a bad head injury. Probably means McLennan starts again, needs to show a lot more than he did on Saturday though. Agree Cosgrove should start this one. Our general play is eye bleedingly awful to watch right now but I'll accept a shitfest backs to the wall performance 1-0 win in this one purely to get back on track.
  6. There's a fair few knuckledraggers crying about that on sevco media, conveniently forgetting that they only won the Fartz tie the previous week with a blatantly offside goal. Fuck sevco and all who sail in her
  7. Just checked his contract situation.....he is here until 2021. For some reason I only thought he had 18 months left. You ask why I'm writing him off. Nothing scientific, just pure gut instinct. I do believe that he hasn't got the physical attributes to cut it at the top level. If you look at Ryan Fraser down at Bournemouth......he is even shorter than Wright but physically looks a brute. They had a pre match interview with an injured teammate of his on Saturday and apparently Fraser is in the top 3 at the whole club in bench press weight lifted. Maybe a change of manager who could implement a different style of play would do Wright good. However I don't think Wiggy is ever going to sack DM and we are saddled with him till 2020. Therefore I think Wright would be better trying his luck at a new club next season, although still having 2 years left on his contract it might be difficult to move him on without a hefty pay off
  8. I totally agree that of the 4 defensive midfielders we have (Shinnie Ferguson Ball Gleeson) he is by far the most comfortable with the ball at his feet and can pick a better pass than the other 3 also. Just concerns me that we now we have to take him off after an hour. If you think St J are physical, just wait till you see Livi! As I said, a couple of early injuries (and the way Livi play it's very possible that it will occur) and we are left with only one sub left which would under normal circumstances be used to replace Gleeson at the hour mark. I do absolutely concur that Ferguson needs rested in this game.....he should have been rested on Saturday. I get what you are saying about players needing a run in the side. But I cannot stress just how bad Wright (and McLennan also) were on Saturday. Don't think they enjoyed the physicality of the game and it will be even more physical against this lot tomorrow night. McLennan probably has enough about him to warrant a place on the bench but Wright.....nope not for me sadly.
  9. First time Ive seen a replay of the goal and agree he should have brought Alston down......he did try but missed. Still say Consi is more culpable though, Logan is posted missing at right back, Consi is filling in but almost on the touchline and can see Alston's run. If he had came 15 yards infield when Ball is trying to tackle Alston he blocks the space Alston finds after getting past Ball. Also Joe is far too far off his line.
  10. Gleeson cannot go for more that 60-65 minutes before he runs out of gas. He's also totally immobile due to being overweight. Sorry KFP but he's just too much of a liability if we were to suffer a couple of early injuries. Last thing we need is to have used 2 subs and then be forced to take him off after an hour leaving us praying no one else gets hurt. Even worse if we get 3 earlyish injuries and we are left with him as a virtual passenger for the last half hour. Wright was just god awful yesterday. I really don't get why our support seem so obsessed with him as every time he gets a chance (st boo LC game aside) he is a waste of a jersey. I've predicted he will be at a Dumbarton or similar this time next year if he is lucky. Peterhead or even Heilan League if he fails to knuckle down. Sometimes you just have to face what is staring you in the face...he really isn't very good.
  11. I make no apologies for saying that apart from an 8 wee period at the end of last season, the Cup semi and final and an odd league game this season he has been god awful since August 2017. A lot of the time it appears his concentration is shot to pieces and his decision making appalling. Did you not see the blatant penalty we got away with just after half time yesterday? I blame all the toing and froing to Manchester every week to see his kids. His contract is up at season's end and I think his intention is to find a club in the Manchester area or certainly driveable to it. He has been a great servant but I think a clean break is now best for both parties. We obviously tried to get Jason Naismith in the summer, he wouldn't have been coming to play second fiddle so it would seem DM agrees with me.
  12. He was indeed our best midfielder and not culpable for the defeat as in he did the job he was asked and played simple passes to a team-mate. However would only get 5/10 from me today. Ferguson was poor but I think his legs were gone before we even kicked off. Would probably have been subbed off early second half but both Wright and McLennan were horrendously bad ( 2/10 for both of them) and we obviously needed to change things. Shortly after which Saints scored their first with Consi being directly at fault both for conceding the corner unnecessarily then failing to deal with Shaughnessy in the air. Shinnie was a headless chicken all afternoon and hampered himself by collecting one of his stupid bookings (less this season I thought he was learning but apparently not) Ferguson has to be rested Tuesday. Wright can go back to the reserves, McLennan to the bench. I'd be tempted to give young Campbell a start but fuck knows who we put up top. GMS has to start if fit, McGinn back in starting line up.
  13. Forrester just totally shyte. Recent bereavement no excuse.....it was a sudden death and he was shyte long before that. Finished with us I think, however I can envisage us being stuck with him long term unless we write off his transfer fee and heavily subsidise his wages at an Irish club.......cannot see even an English Conference club being interested. Gleeson has decent footballing ability but he runs out of petrol after 60-70 minutes and about as mobile as a battleship with it's rudder missing. Similar to Stewart last season in that he looks like he is carrying at least an extra stone in weight even at this stage of the season. Don't think we would have resigned Ball on loan but management team realised he was going to be a liability virtually as soon as he arrived. Think he thought after being at Ipswich he would stroll it up here in a diddy league and has found out to his horror that the quality and intensity is miles higher than he surmised. Possibly could be a useful sub next season if as expected Shinnie fecks off in the summer but suspect if he can line up a free transfer to a lower league English club he would be allowed to leave in January.
  14. Unfortunately we could sign Harry Kane in January and he wouldn't score in this Dons side. Our midfield usually consists of Ball/Shinnie/Ferguson + A.N. Other. No creativity unless GMS is fit and on form. Not one player gets any more than 5/10 today. Ferguson badly needs a rest and Logan badly needs replaced in January. Not looking forward to Tues night
  15. Pointless beating sevco at their hovel then shitfesting it at home in the next game against the team directly above us. And Livi will leapfrogging us in the table too
  16. Was just away to post this when the Fermers went 1 up...... Week in week out we get folk demanding that we put Wright in. Well as usual, on the odd occasion we do, he's totally useless and a waste of a jersey. He'll be at a Dumbarton or similiar this time next year (if he's lucky) And saints go 2 up
  17. Christie with a fantastic free kick has the Dhims 4 up at HT And there were arseholes in the press asing if Killie could do a Leicester
  18. Just took a quick look at Hivs.net to see if their fans had any ITK about Scott Allan and if Hivs were still interested. What I did see is that popcorn teeth has apparently ased their board to push the boat out to get Shinnie in on a pre contract in January, making him their highest paid player ever. Sources appear to be an ex player and a manager with some connection to Blackpool Make of it what you will. I'm certain he is for the off (and I've stated where I think to).......even if this story is true a lower level English Championship club will be able to comfortably top it by £2-3k/week
  19. I maybe should point out I do not disagree with their assertion that he isn't of the required quality to have us challenging for the league title. My argument is that he is the level of squad player that we can only expect to employ given our financial constraints. We might in future have a board willing to put in significant investment in the squad to attain such a level, or we could get lucky and get a golden generation of youths coming through as Fergie got around 80/81. We could also start scouting in foreign climes for value. But as things stand.......Ball is the level of talent we can expect. And at least he does want to be with us......unlike Forrester/Tansey/Wilson and no doubt Gleeson shortly as he gets pissed off not playing.
  20. Rocket, Jute, donsdaft, bobbybiscuit to name 4.
  21. Could you therefore name someone better who we could possibly sign within our budget constraints as you seem to think it would be easily done (and I have absolutely no doubt there will be a gem somewhere out there in Central or Eastern Europe who probably would fit the bill.....but our scouting team only go as far as Dover apparently) I think (hope certainly) that the long term answer lies in Dean Campbell but hes at least another 12-18 months away from being ready....
  22. Checked up on Wiki.....Egyptian FA refused to grant international clearance in August. FIFA granted a temporary certificate in October allowing him to play for Thistle but there is no word on the £1.4 MILLION compo FIFA instructed him to pay to Al Ahly in April being rescinded. (shoulda gone to Hunsavers)
  23. Some of our fans need to take a hefty dose of reality pills. Sure Ball isn't the best we've ever had by a long way but unless we have a multimillionaire director (or 2) willing to chuck in £25 million as a gift to spend on the squad, he is the level of squad filler that we can afford. We're only paying our top earners like Joe and Shinnie somewhere in the £5-6k/week region with a few on a round the £4k mark. Our budget however doesn't stretch to doing that for all the first team squad. Look at Jason Naismith who joined Peterborough in the summer as we couldn't even match never mind better their offer.....a mid table EFL1 club ffs. Ball does a decent job in defensive midfield and could cover central defence adequately if necessary. Folk's judgement of him can be clouded when he was played at right back as an emergency and he was god awful but that wasn't his fault. The loon clearly loves playing for us, wants to stay and at around £3-3.5k/week would represent sound value. What we do have to do is find some magical way to clear Gleeson (who isn't fit enough nor mobile enough), Forrester (wage thief) and Tansey (see Forrester) out the door without taking too much of a financial hit. The first 2 of them will be on the upper end of our wage scale....getting them out would allow us I think to outbid Hivs to get Scott Allan onboard which should be our priority in January.
  24. IIRC he was at an Egyptian club and left of his own accord and there is some doubtr over registration and is compensation is due, until it's sorted don't think clubs want to take the risk of being liable
