It's all relative. Compared to Miller (A), Magoo and Paterson he absolutely was competent. And took a team containing the Dazzler etc further in Europe than we have ever been close to since. He was also a Hun of the highest order. But look back through our history. The majority of our managers have been openly follow followers or Dhim minded. As long as they leave that shyte at the door when they are appointed I couldn't give a flying f@ck...

Spending cash they really didn't have helped a bit, having reasonably competent managers in Calderwood, Hay and Leishman also helped as did getting lucky with their draws. However without doubt the biggest factor is that Scottish football in general was just totally shyte at that point in time.

If he is right then I'm gutted it's Joe that they are interested in rather than Shinnie. Of the 2, Joe would be the far more difficult to replace (to a similar standard). However he is under contract so we could demand a decent wedge if it were to develop.....£3 million as a basis for negotiation or no deal.

Celtic V Aberdeen League Cup Final - Sunday 2nd Dec

Think you need to read again what i wrote -
Didn't go AwOL as such or waste his talents, just bad luck with a career ending injury. Probably just before your time SeaBass.....I'm talking about Stuart Kennedy, who got a bad cruciate injury in the 2nd leg of the CWC semi against Waterschei. Obviously he missed the Final but everyone thought he would be back by Xmas at the latest and at 30 would still have 4 or 5 years left. IIRC Ferguson was very cagey when he was asked about how Kennedy was doing in his recovery but the cat was out the bag when just after Xmas we forked out for McKimmie from Dundee. You hear the pundits to this day banging on about who was the best right back between McGrain and Jardine both of whom were slightly older. I certainly wouldn't have swapped Kennedy for either of them. He was taller and faster than both of them with an absolute Rolls Royce of an engine and capable of playing anywhere along the back 4. Travesty he had to retire when he did.

Celtic V Aberdeen League Cup Final - Sunday 2nd Dec

Son of an uber Hun. Hopefully will mean that we would have to machine gun their players before he gives them a penalty. He's usually hopeless but it's a far better appointment for us than had we gotten Thomson or Gollum -
I want to know who Tencaats is....he joined a couple of months ago. Plagiarising b****rd

Ok had half an hour to spare so looked up a few LUFC fan boards to see if that's where the rumours were surfacing from. Their goalkeeper broke his leg over a week ago, probably out for the season and the fans do not rate the 2 back-ups at all. Supposedly they've asked for dispensation to sign one on an emergency loan....on all the boards I viewed the consensus is they want Tom Heaton in from Burnley with a view to signing him permanently in the January window. Not one mention of signing Lewis at all. As for Shinnie, well the consensus amongst their fans is they urgently require 2 central defenders and 2 wingers/wing backs more than anything else. They've got 8 defensive/central midfielders on their books and are more looking to shift one or two out rather than sign any more. And again no mention of Shinnie anywhere. Are their agents just "testing the waters" or is it just total bullshit??

Not for me. Hayes now 31.....32 next summer and will be on wages that we would struggle to match and would have no residual value. Has hardly played in all his time with the Dhims. It hasn't really worked out too great with the McGinn re-signing and anyway who is to say GMS wont put pen to paper on the new contract he has been offered. If he doesn't then I'd like us to try for Jordan Jones from Killie although there's talk of Aston Villa being interested in him which would blow our chances out the water. Shankland? Difficult one. He was obviously punted for a reason (too fat/didn't link play) but he's lost over a stone. Can't deny his goalscoring record but we are hardly prolific at creating chances for a striker who can't do anything other than put the ball in the back of the net. Don't see DM changing his philosophy any time soon so I thin it would need a change of manager first who would embrace Shankland's qualities and change our set up to accomodate these (and his limitations obviously). However unless a Championship side comes in for McInnes we are stuck with him for this season and at least the first half of next season too. In the interim, unless Ayr go up (I think they'll fall short in the end with County and United just having too much of a financial advantage) I envisage him moving on to a mid table level Premiership team (Killie will probably need to replace Fatty Boyd and would be a good fit for him) or an English Division 1 side who could pay him more than anyone in scotland outside us, the cheeks and the Edinburgh duo.

Didn't hear that but he most certainly was booed when he got subbed off

I'd like to say I'm in shock but given that Motherwell have been giving us horsings down there (and at Hampdung) fairly regularly recently I really cannot say I am in all honesty. We were missing our most consistent player this season but surely to f@ck that was more than offset by them missing their captain and first choice 'keeper. Again, only going by radio commentary, could (maybe should) have been 1 up through Shinnie before McGinn's apparent brainfart, compounded by Shay worryingly yet again making what proved to be a fatal error. Logan was rank rotten all last season apart from the final 10 weeks or so. He's started this season just as badly and though it's obvious he loves the club, maybe it would be better for everyone if he did head back south next summer. Joe it seems was also badly at fault at their second but tried to pin the blame on May rather than hold his hands up. And I'm now coming out as being in the "send Wilson back to Man U in January" camp. Sadly i believe we are stuck with him till summer. Boy clearly has talent but not nearly as much as he himself believes and his attitude (got too much too soon IMO) will see him rock up next season at a Rotherham or Doncaster and end up struggling there too. All will be forgiven if we somehow lift the trophy next Sunday but right now.....especially with Devlin doubtful.....that seems a bit of a stretch to imagine being a realistic aim. Large nightcap required...

WEST ABERDEEN ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION ASSOCIATION LIMITED
Ten Caat replied to Garlogie_Granite's topic in Off Topic
Supposedly so that when NKS loses the judicial review and has costs awarded against it, they just close NKS down with no assets therefore the directors only have to cough up £1 each as it is a limited company and leaving WAEPAL intact with (£70k is the figure I saw) to carry on whatever futile action it thinks will work next. -
As I've said elsewhere, I reckon if/when, McKenna goes, DM will get between £1.5-2 million to spend on the squad. As Rico says, I'd be happy enough for Consi to see out the season as his temporary replacement and then source a better quality permanent one on a Bosman in the summer. I'd use the cash to tie up Joe, Devlin, GMS ( if he will sign) and Ferguson on better long contracts. Then offer Derby £500k for Lowe....again no idea if they'd bite or even if he himself would sign on if they did but it's worth asking the question. Shinnie too but I think he is for the off no matter what....he will get at least £8k/week maybe even a bit more at a low to mid table Championship club easily and I doubt we would stretch that far (I also have predicted his eventual destination will be at a promoted Sunderland). Anyway back on topic, I saw on other boards that Devlin's injury is actually a calf injury not foot and that he is missing the 'Well game purely as a precaution. They have their captain McHugh out suspended, who is their best midfielder. I think under normal circumstances DM would start cagey and go with Ball/Shinnie holding, Ferguson in front of them and only one up top but with McHugh out I thin we can be a bit more adventurous and keep 2 up front. May did well against Hivs and I'd like to see him paired with Anderson but expect Wilson will keep his place in spite of being dreadful recently. 0-2 (McGinn, May )

Scotland go 2-1 up (Forrest double) having been 1 down early against Israel. Half time looming . McKenna very good so far.

I tried outing him and had my post deleted and copped 3 durrants for my trouble (tbf what i said to him was a tad racist on reflection but my intentions were good) Coming soon.... Hacienda Idol "baggy" Madchester range

Convincing win but achieved on the back of Albania being reduced to 10 men for 70 minutes (red card given correctly for a headbutt on Christie). We had taken the lead with a very good goal 5 minutes earlier but at that point Albania were giving as good as they were getting with the sevco winger Grezda causing Paterson at right back all sorts of problems and with Paterson on an early yellow card.......Grezda copped a booking for diving under a challenge from Paterson late first half still 1-0, replays looked like there was indeed a bit of contact and the ref could have given a penalty and poss red card to Paterson. We then got a penalty on the stroke of half time from a free kick, defender in wall adjudged to have handled....ball clearly struck his arm but it wasn't in an "unnatural" position and I honestly believe 8 out of 10 refs would not have given it. At 2-0 we were then comfortable all second half, added 2 good goals and could (should) have had at least 1 more when McTominay hit top of bar from 12 yards with just keeper to beat. McKenna was steady, had a decent block in first half preventing an on target shot from 6 yards out from possibly giving Albania an equaliser. Didn't look too comfortable (alongside all the defence) on the few times Albania got crosses in from the flanks and was beaten in the air a few times by the Albanian centre forward, eventually picking up a quite unnecessary yellow card mid second half by climbing all over their CF and flattening him in the challenge.

He is definitely more opinionated but he is retiring from Question Time at Xmas so only a few weeks left to put up with him.
-
I would say with a full squad to pick from then yes we should be beating Albania every time. But with all the withdrawals I certainly aint too hopeful. Folk of our vintage remember the 70s and 80s where Scotland always qualified for tournaments (and always made a spectacular Roger Hunt of things once there). Teams like Albania and Israel truly were dross but we have regressed and they have improved in the interim thus levelling the field out. GWT was on Radio Clyde giving an interview earlier. He absolved Devlin from this but came out and actively accused at least 2 of the squad withdrawals of doing so under false pretences. He didn't name names but i took what he said to infer one of them was Tierney.....

Is this anything to do with the move onto Universal Credit? Whatever, try not to get overstressed. Your GP/Consultant should get asked to provide a medical report outlining your conditions/prognosis/how they affect you day to day. Should be enough to get DWP off your back for a bit but if you are feeling like giving them some grief back, write to your MP asking them to back your case (make sure to point out the "no bother till Nov 2026" that you were told....if you have this in writing send a photocopy with your letter). It will all work out in the end. SF

Irish border is just an unsurmountable problem. I reckon the Tories are hoping...indeed encouraging... that Irish reunification happens asap post Brexit. Shorter term, May surely has to resign if her own cabinet throw out the proposals. The new leader would surely have no option but to call a general election within 3 months.

Now confirmed out. Still no word on what the injury is

Devlin rated doubtful. Injury not yet disclosed.
