I'll reserve judgement till after tonight's game. Guffland win and the jingoism will be cranked up to 11. Lose and they'll still be cock-a-hoop because "the route to the final" will be so much easier if they are in that half of the draw. Sad to say if that's indeed how things pan out, I can't see anything other than the Guffies in the Final.

What you have to realise is that TV coverage has changed somewhat since the bygone days of the 70s and 80s when Scotland would invariably qualify and invariably make a c@nt of things once there. In those days there wasn't the blanket coverage we get nowadays where every single match is available live. We had 3 or 4 channels only so we only got live coverage of Scotland games ( and Guffland or Norn Irn if they too had qualified) plus selected other games deemed of interest...usually 1 game per group for each station though the later stages would get complete coverage. So we roughly got only half the coverage we do today.....obviously BBC Scotland or STV would cover our own games but Guffland/Norn Irn games would be covered by the nationwide broadcasters (ie Guffies).

Arthur Montford and Archie McPhershun were absolutely unashamedly Scotland biased in their commentaries all those years ago.

English leagues are vastly overrated. The ex Fartz goalkeeper is a Scotland international now, Cwith always had ability but suspect temperament and ozturk was decent enough in a shitty jambos team. I think Ross will get them up automatically but will struggle in the Championship and be bulleted around 18 months time.

Given that he was due to go on Shinnie's stag jaunt before they both got called up for the Scotland tour I'd say he was definitely enjoying life at Pittodrie knowing he was going to be a first pick every week. I'd agree his performances second half of the season were nowhere near the level of the first half but sure he was carrying a niggling injury that never really got he proper rest it required as our squad is/was so thinly resourced. As for losing the ball by holding on too long........well that was Hayes' big fault too. It is just the way of things with flair players.

He's almost 39, and whilst no doubt he has looked after himself physically, at that age your legs can't do what they used to consistently for 90 minutes every week, sometimes twice a week. Guessing he would have been used in the Christie role. So why not just show a bit of ambition and bid £500k for Christie. Dhims would prob reject that but certain they'd cash in for £600-750k as they know he is never going to be anything there than a bit part player.

No team in the SPFL would struggle in League 1 with the exception possibly of Livingston who just got promoted. As I have said before, ourselves Hibs and sevco would easily cope in the Championship. Hearts and Kilmarnock would probably yoyo between the Championship and League 1 and the rest sit comfortably in League 1 with Motherwell challenging for promotion and getting it now and again.

Celtic Championship level? Unbelieveable arrogance from yet another guffy who vastly overrates the quality of the English league system.....and it is only because of the foreigners imported at vastly over-inflated prices that give it any quality at all. You lot finished 7th last season. Trust me, Celtic would finish comfortably above Burnley every season without exception. And we didn't finish all that far behind Celtic, although with finances as they are I do concede that at present Aberdeen are Championship level, though I also believe that we would be mid to top end level as would sevco and Hibs. I guess you are too young to remember drawing Ipswich in 81. Everyone from Guffland ( and most of the rest of Scotland) told us we would get a battering similar to the one Liverpool gave us the previous year. well it just didn't work out that way..... I do concede that the team that faced Ipswich were just a wee bit special....and we all knew it

No legal expert but the case will be subject to Civil Law rather than Criminal Law so there is no real prospect of him being arrested unless he is subsequently shown to be participating in a fraud. And if that was even looking remotely possible there is no way he would risk leaving his South African bolthole. The recent resignation of sevco board members is an indication that King is rapidly losing the support and confidence of his fellow boardroom colleagues. Tansey is going nowhere unless we agree to subsidise his wages heavily.....clubs in Scotland know we want him out and the one club who definitely wanted him in got relegated. Cant deny they deserved to win, they could and probably should, have been 4 up before giving away that stupid penalty. Belgium should pump them in the final game of the group but by then both of them could already have qualified for the last 16 and end up playing a boring 0-0 game using fringe players and taking no risk of anyone getting injured.
