Am desperate enough to give it a try...assuming Hernandez isn't up to it
-
I dont walk to talk the guy down because its encouraging that were prepared to take gambles like this. It did seem an unusual area of the pitch to spend that amount of money though,as opposed to a hot prospect in an more beneficial/urgent area of the pitch,ie attacking mid,and probably with more sellability in that dept? To be fair we were apparently trying to bid around £400k for that sort of player on deadline day but it fell through,so fair play to the ambition on that front. I wouldnt imagine the men with the money will be happy to see their investments regressing via the current state of football. Its frustrating because we should be entering a more optimistic era

Just back - Oh dear. When I saw the line up I thought this could actually could do some damage if it got going. But it never did. The early Saints goal, and the way they closed down our options thereafter, you knew it was going to be a long night. And to be fair,we had a different than usual line up,that didnt seem too familiar with each other, allied to the fact,I was a bit surprised at how the crowd seemed to be keener than usual to get on the players backs. But thats looking at one side of the argument. This side seem to have had their attacking instincts dumbed out of them.I'm not even sure how much difference the creative attacking player mentioned above would have made.Kennedy looked a shadow of what weve seen him do for St Js. And it cant be that hard to work on our movement in training,or to work on different methods of attack. So predictable.Even someone encouraged to just run at a defence now and again Still think the new guys need time to settle in,but come on,were better than tonight

Thought he was signed by Paterson. He might have been more average than we thought, because the rest of the team at that time were so bad. A Finnish guy that worked with me a while laughed when i told him he was one of our star players

Getting motivated for a midweek game after work can be a bit of a chore,.....but seeing as its St Johnstone ... In Furryboots - Mainer Pre/Post - Driving Prediction - 2 - 2 Gallacher x2 EDIT - Like to see this line up Lewis Hernandez Taylor McKenna Considine McGeouch Ferguson Kennedy Hedges <> McGinn Cosgrove
-
Sounds like our Atlanta connection are going over McInnes head as far as some recruitment goes, when a player they think may return on their investment comes on their radar Nae sure how much will go thru with McInnes approval,or more 'were doing it anyway' Interesting to know who gets what when a player gets sold on,and whether McInnes is happy with his role being diluted.
-
mainstandmoan(usually in the know) on Abmad saying we paid £800k for Hernandez ..... in the belief he can be sold for millions in a few years. Also saying that our playing budget is now £2m more than it was a year ago
-
Didnt expect that, fair play. Though not seeing the game, not sure it was a case of we were good or they were bad,but going by reports we were pretty decent .A line up like that can work for this type of game, but McInnes needs to loosen the shackles a bit for the next at home to St Js

Ach well here goes.Am off to work outside til the final whistle. COYFlippinR

Weve an odd assortment of decent players.Something that we miss IMO is a prominent squad member with local ties, ala Shinnie,Anderson,Robson.and a bit of passion,we're just a bit nice. Using what weve got, given the lack of a no.10,could we use an aging mcGinn in there,or Kennedy/McLennan/Hedges meantime.Someone to run at a defence. Could Gallagher(tin hat) be turned into a Willo Flood chaser/destroyer/pain in the arse while he's here.

Cole and Yorke, thats it. I knew Beardsley wasnt quite who I meant, though he and Cole werent too shabby either. Cole and Yorke were almost a goal a game for a while
-
Forgot about Chas n Hans. Good shout.
-
As far as the Dons memory goes - Harper/Archibald,Shearer/Paatelainen.Cant think of anything since then.Always thought Lovell/Miller might have worked, but it was rarely given the chance Never got into Euro fitba. In England Keegan/Toshack,Rush/Folwer,Cole/Beardsley. Lost interest down there after the silly money came in

Assuming Joe Lewis isnt sold....
-
Great wee player.Hope we get the best out of him
-
I'm not seeing any obvious candidates out there, but assuming there are. Before that, I would have a cheeky wee punt at trying to lure a top out of work manager whose already made his money, but may relish the prospect of taking an underdog to do battle with the incontinent forces of darkness.... ...No harm in trying at least

While youre here, looking for robust pair(s) of specs for working outdoors, able to withstand being dropped/knocked about a lot. Happy to pay up to £8 a pair if needs be
-
Deary me,how can we be so unimaginative. It must be as uninspiring to play in our side as it is to watch us. "We nullified a good team for long periods" - Aye? ..allrighty then....
-
Not averse to giving Anderson a run of games to see what he can do,but I also hae ma doubts about him longer term.Agree about also giving McLennan a run through the middle rather than wide,....though preferably if we were playing a pacier confident style of football. Strong and quick, but think he needs to work on his attitude/work ethic to reach his peak.Get the impression he's a bit lazy

Just back fae the Port Appin area the weekend past.Climbed Beinn Sgulaird while we were there.Great viewpoint, but a horrible rough rocky mountain to climb. DSC00781 (2) by [/url], on Flickr Have to recommend the island of Lismore where we stayed over the weekend though.Rarely hear of it as far as others go,but liked it so much,we're going back again in February.Lots of history, views, low level walking/cycling,....but also quiet, and away from most of the tourists. Only downside is that, with a population of 170,there isnt an eatery or pub around, but a short ferry ride(10 mins,£2 each way) takes you back to the mainland at Port Appin where theres a good eatery called the Pier house right on the waterfront Unfortunately,we turned up at Port Appin on our way over, assuming it was a car ferry. It was the last one for the evening, and we found out it was foot passenger only.Chucked our gear on anyway, and had to tramp the 5 miles to our place in the dark . That aside.its a great place in the middle of Loch Linnhe with fine views back to the mainland, and out to the islands and Kingairloch areas.Great for both sunrise and sunset Looking back to the mainland with the islands single track main road in the pic DSC00797 (3) by , on Flickr Looking North up Loch Linnhe DSC00796 (4) by , on Flickr

Blimey, well played,if a slightly odd thing to investigate.Canna mind a thing about the recent Cup visit, but can for a game 40 years ago . Call it middle age fuzz....was probably haein a nap last time
-
Killie at home it is. Nae great, but could have been worse. Was in the Beach End watching Dons and Killie fans throwing seats at each other last time I saw Killie at home in the Cup,'81/82ish.Won 4 - 2 on our way to a Hampden win
-
Ach thats a shame, always meant to try that place out.Mate and his wife had been regulars since the 90s and always talked him up. Some shift fae the boy
