1. Agreed,I think a 'name' that would capture the imagination would go a long way to galvanising/lifting the rest of the squad, rather than 2 or 3 more 'nae badders'.Just me,but we could end up with an odd assortment of players with not a lot in common, maybe reflected in team spirit?
2. Scotlands number 1 - Sgurr Nan Gillean 964m ...as voted by the Scottish hillwalking community. We thought we'd try it out to see what the fuss was about.Sgurr Nan Gillean is the peak on the left hand side below, with the mist on the summit(click to enlarge photos) IMG_4835 by , on Flickr Zoomed. The approach is round to the left and beyond to the South East ridge(not seen) IMG_4841 by , on Flickr The start point is up the road from the Sligachan hotel,Skye, about a couple of hundred metres,on the Dunvegan road.Once on the path, you cross 2 rivers, the Allt Dearg Mor,and the Allt Dearg Beag. After about an hour you reach the point below, where you dip down, then back up the grassy slope(first red arrow),onto a first level, then along and round to another level(second arrow) Photo taken just after reaching the second level, and red arrow pointing to the start point of the final ascent up the summit ridge. There are paths and small cairns to guide you over, but its easy to lose them if you dont keep your eyes peeled Arrow points to where we joined the ridge. We kept to the centre of the ridge until we reached a point where we had to go left or right because of a massive unclimbable rock.We chose to go on the inside left, and remained that side all the way to the summit Small chimney route on the inside of the massive rock A bit more clambery as you get nearer the summit (a wee bit out my comfort zone).Takes a bit of trial and error, since theres no path by this stage, though you do find fairly easy options if you persevere Then an 'airy' climb up to a tiny summit.Johns head chopped off for anonimity Sun burst out just as we got to the summit ,thankfully though,as you dont want to be wandering about there in the mist as we thought we might be.Total summit area is the size of a small living room, with sharp drops all round Edit - found a pic of the summit Summary - Quite a long and rugged walk in,took us 2.5 hrs to the final ridge.Things dramatically change when you hit the final ridge to the summit(which took another hour). Views open up,exposure increases and a thrilling finale with fantastic views all round Bla Bheinn has the better views IMO,but this one fairly gets the pulse racing
3. Failing that ^^,an address will do...
4. SB - Just saying theres no point repeating how unhappy you are with the draw,it'd be healthier looking for what you can get out of it now its happened......and what Manc said
5. No point in talking the game(and your mood)down any more.It is what it is,how can you enjoy the occasion now its here. Two full houses, two great atmospheres. The romance of the plucky wee minnow against the mighty Dons, Come away min....
6. Good old fashioned club Burnley.Am I right in thinking the crowds at Turf Moor are the highest in proportion to the size of town,in the English leagues Mel? ...And do you prefer the English game now, post Sky money or pre?
7. Some folk getting their knickers in an unnecessary twist. We are rightly underdogs and am happy to be so. Expect Burnley to be a better version of Hearts so hopes not overly raised,.... like they weren't v Ipswich 36 years ago . Savour these occasions loons. COYR
8. Ooft, some tie potentially.A few on their forum seem surprisingly pessimistic.A bit earlier in the rounds than I would have liked, but lookin forrit tilt Someone called 'topdon' on their forum, inviting them over here.
9. Waiting patiently for your toast, cuppa at hand,...and then realising you havnt put any bread in the toaster,...again
10. Euro memories go as far back as Marek Dimitrov in the late 70s,but have never ventured to any of the away games,....including Gothenburg(skint student ) Must get out to one of these,in particular the likes of Dnipro,Kairat etc .All sounded like a blast. Better nip on before Yogi or the like takes over.....
11. Sounds like he's on a similar mental wavelength to Willo,... though thats maybe a bit harsh on Willo. Hopefully he can run around and stuff.Ah the best loon
12. Aye min, formerly elginred.Speak to myself about hills on here like I did over there . Abmad was a great site at its peak, but I dont know half the folk on there these days(canna be arsed with half of those that are left now either tbh ). Am i right in thinking you were Jackdon? Canna mind if you told us,or I worked it out? A few of us migrated over here a couple of years ago....Rico,donsdaft,...and some others with different names.
13. What made you move? The pillars? change of scene?
14. Aye the Beach End was ace as a young loon.liked the wee wing stand too.In the Main stand now,I do like it there...old quirky, plenty character, and the food queues are a fraction of the SS ones. Winna miss the SS queues,or standing on the Y in a storm.Pittodrie looks a bit of a carbunkle these days.Needs pulled down, time to move on..
15. A wee clip from when he signed for the Posh.Itching to get started.....
16. Anyone taking the piddle like that should have £100k knocked off the tribunal amount

18. Just back from a few days in Achilitibuie.I've always avoided this area, associating it with a sort of '70s OAP holiday destination, along with Gairloch,Poolewe etc.We were there for 4 days for our annual fishing/walking break(normally go to Harris). What a cracking little place.Great views over the summer isles from our S/C accom.Loads of varied walks into the hills, along the coast, trips out to the islands.Couthy cafes, and a bar along the road.Helps when the weather is never below 20oC,but thoroughly recommend. The fishing was good too IMG_4735 (2) by , on Flickr
19. Great tributes from the Hartlepool fans http://www.pooliebunker.co.uk/newbunker/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=63460

UFO

Was a drummer in a previous life.Doctor doctor one of the first songs I remember rehearsing.Easy riff, managed to murder it
22. Aye min,my favourite cup final. There was always a doubt at 3 - 1 there might be a couple of suspicious dodgy pens late on,....til Tattie smashed that 4th one in . That GIRUY just sealed a beautiful day
23. Thats a shocker that like.Had his demons maybe but a harmless, friendly fella.
24. Forecast looking good for most places the next couple of weeks, and nicely timed as a few of us go S/C up near Achilitbuie this next week for an annual bit of fishing, walking, and sunsets with a beer hopefully. Last weekend,we made a late dash to get to Blaven(Bla Bheinn) on Skye for a summit sunset.Blaven is one of the 4 easier Cuillin Munros, along with Sgurr nan Eag,Sgurr nan Banachdich, and Bruach na Frithe.Easier, though a head for heights is handy. Parked at the Torrin car park on the road to Elgol from Broadford, about 10 miles after Broadford. IMG_4422 by , on Flickr To get there you have to come through the village of Torrin(seen in below photo),and round the edge of the Loch before you get there.Car park is among the trees in the foreground IMG_4428 by , on Flickr To get going you have to walk out of the car park on to the road, turn left until you come to a gate that leads onto the path up the rhs of the stream IMG_4424 by , on Flickr Blaven ahead on the left.Path crosses the stream further up and is just about visible going up to the left(below) IMG_4429 by , on Flickr IMG_4435 by , on Flickr Look out for a small lochan on your lhs(the only one around) as you go on.There is a path going straight ahead, and one going uphill.Go uphill.Gets steeper here IMG_4440 by , on Flickr Path can be seen zig zagging right of centre(click to enlarge) IMG_4455 (2) by , on Flickr gravelly but not as bad as it looks IMG_4459 (2) by , on Flickr Windows start to open up IMG_4473 (2) by , on Flickr A bit of a short clamber for the last section before you get to the top IMG_4446 by , on Flickr This was the second time Ive been up Blaven, the other in winter. The views both times were outstanding all round.Another hill that was voted in the top 10 of all Munros.Well worth the effort.Took us 2.5 hours up,and 1.5 down, but we were nipping on to use the last of the light.Think around 6 hrs is the norm for non regular walkers Without giving too much views away, got our sunset at the end IMG_4542 (3) by , on Flickr
25. Very similar to me last night.Supping some Brewdog outside(not a regular tipple for me),and by 8 pm i was thinking, What the heck, am i wrecked or just tired.Bed by 9pm. I could blame the working outside in excessive heat(15oC ) but maybe yours is a better explanation
