  1. I didn't actually realise until i started pulling the stats together just how well we are doing this season - with all the hype on how a vastly wealthier Tic are steamrolling the league, there is a danger of massively underrating what this Dons team is achieving. If anything, it makes winning the Scottish Cup all the more essential, as we could end up having a record-breaking team being dismissed as merely also-rans. That's the sort of thing that makes players move on.
  2. Btw, that's the second time i've seen the loon Bruce Anderson on our bench, and i have to admit i know nothing about him. Ony good?
  3. Maybe we should just apply to build a large longterm self-storage unit and then store a football pitch inside it.
  4. From the outside, it keeps reminding me of thon giant self-storage warehouses you find on the edge of town
  5. Seeing as the media are currently having a big love-in with historical records, i had a quick scan through previous season stats, and here's where we stand with some of our own this season. Source of previous seasons is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Aberdeen_F.C._seasons With 8 games remaining: Most Wins: Currently on 19. 5 more wins will see us beat last years total (23) for the highest total since 1992/93 (27), when we played 44 games in a season. The full 8 would see us tie with 84/85 and 92/93 seasons as our highest ever. 19 is already the joint 4th highest since 1992/93, tied with 2006/07 and surpassed only by each of the last 3 years (20, 23, 22) Fewest Draws: Our current total (4) is the lowest since 1957/58 (2). We had 5 last year. Fewest Defeats: Our current total (7) is the lowest since 1993/94 (6). Next closest is from 2 years ago, 2014/15 (9). Most Goals Scored: Currently on 60. 3 more goals will beat last years total (62) to be the most goals scored since 1992/93 (87 over 44 games). The all-time record is 1935/36 (96). Least Goals Conceded: Currently 24, joint 4th best of all-time, tied with 1982/83. Only 1987/88 (15), 1970/71 (18) and 1983/84 (21) are better. Next closest are 1988/89 (25), 1990/91 (27) and 2014/15 (33). For perspective we let in exactly double the number of goals last year at 48. Highest Goal Difference: Pretty much follows on from the previous two stats - we have a current GD of +36, the highest since 1992/93 (+51 over 44 games). The next closest since then is 2014/15 (+24), and last year we got +14. In fact, in the 24 years since 92/93, we have only had a positive GD 11 times, and 4 of those are the 4 seasons under McInnes. The all-time record is 1984/85 (+63, and they only played 36 games!). Most Points: Well, we all know this one - 2014/15 is the all-time record of 75. We are currently on 61, so 15 points out of 24 will beat this. Even with 8 games to go though, this is already our joint 6th highest points total of all time, or if only looked at by comparing 38-game, 3-points-for-a-win seasons (starting 2000/01, total 17 seasons), joint 5th with 2004/05 (61), surpassed only by 2006/07 (65) and each of the last 3 years (68, 75, 71). (Feel free to correct if you spot a meringue in there)
  6. I hear Yule is fuming. Seriously though, solid win tonight and next weekend will be very tasty.
  7. True, although you would have to conclude that with: ...although whether they should depends on your interpretation of "all Aberdeen have done for Scottish fitba". I also do children's parties.
  8. That sounded like you saying the cooncil should back them! Seeing as i've already got this thread open, i've always got time for a bit of petty pedantry through the form of an analogy: I seriously hope Aberdeen win the Scottish Cup, but that disnae mean i think they should. I should really close this and get on with some mair work. You can thank me later.
  9. Only 2 years? I blame McInnes.
  10. By christ that's ugly. Fair play to you for looking for creative options though
  11. I 100% agree with this sentiment. And these all appear to be genuine facts (can't really comment on the rerouting bit). I'm not clear on the point you are making though?
  12. was saying on the chat that i was annoyed that i had left the room and missed the first goal, as i thought that would probably be sods law and the only goal of the game. Happy to be proved wrong though
  13. Ach min, i dinnae want to get drawn into a tit-for-tat over Pittodrie as i view it as the wrong focus of debate (and i have tae go tae bed!), but i nonetheless think you fighting a lost cause there - even if we airdrop your 2 main New Douglas Park stands in, they only have a capacity of 5300 (the other 700 is provided by a temporary stand, the translucent grey blob in the top right of your overlay), or probably around 3500 and 1800 each. If we expand the 3500 to 4000, replicate it on the other side, and call 1800 2000, that's 10k. Even if you cram another 3K into the larger footprint at the other end and gave another 1k for the corners, thats 14K. That's still a good 4-6k short of what we need. Now, I'll admit that i am through necessity plucking those expanded numbers out the air, but i'll be happy to be corrected with more substantiated estimates in either direction. And that's without considering the cost of knocking everything down, the disruption to BAU, the loss of capital from selling the ground, the lack of room for other facilities, and the plethora of more technical issues raised by others in this thread (and which i'm nae really qualified to assess). Also, just for clarity, i'm nae for the Kingsford proposal as it stands - i think it has several issues to address around transport, and i think it was a case of making the most of limited choices with the sudden collapse of Loirston as an option. The club still has a way to go to make its case in more detail, and i hope they are in a position to come up with viable options or we will be forced into something even more remote. But, on balance from the evidence provided, i also think the club has no choice but to move from Pittodrie. I'd be happy to be proved wrong though. Personally, if we were to redevelop anywhere, I'd be delighted if we just gave up on all this NE focus and shifted to Kassam stadium
  14. I'm really not sure what point you are making, other than illustrating how the Pittodrie footprint only has room for 2x New Douglas Parks (5400 not counting the temporary stand) plus a little more for what can be built in the slightly larger space at one end, presumably taking it up to around 12k. Or am i missing the point? Sorry if i am. Tom has already gone through a wealth of explanations as to what could be fitted on the site in this thread, especially if you dig back a few years (this thread has been going since 2011). I'm happy to defer to his view that while there might be room for some tweaking, its not going to give us much more than 12k, and its definitely not going to give us the 18k+ that we need. I think we really need to move on from viewing Pittodrie as viable and focus on the proposals for new locations that have been mooted.
  15. That's nothing, just wait until you hear the real issues with a Pittodrie redevelopment, the ones above will seem ludicrous and childish in comparison.
  16. Just to add to that, last year's 62 goals was our highest total since 1992/93. So 8 games to get 3 more to beat that record. We also at present have the highest goal difference since 92/93, and goals conceded is currently exactly HALF the total from last year (24) and the lowest (so far) since 1987/88. Quite good really.
  17. Partick now only 14 points behind Sevco - zombies may be closer to 6th place than to 2nd by this time next week
  18. 'mon Well, St Johnstone, Partick and Tansey
  19. Stadium DJ playing "KungFu Fighting" followed by "Eye of the Tiger" from Rocky at halftime
  20. Radio saying that Swanson and Foster both red carded and st Johnstone down to (at least) 9 men. Pity really as they were looking like catching Sevco. Maybe that's why Foster kicked off
  21. St Johnstone kicking lumps out of... each other. Danny Swanson beating on Tricky Dicky Foster, evidently doesn't want him on his team any more
  22. Cammy Smith gets an assist, Shankland hits the bar and Tansey nearly scores a peach. Dons players all having fun today.
