I agree, his movement is good and he’s getting chances. But he’s got to take them. Confidence comes from goals. Two years ago bojan scored in the second and third league game of the season, hit the ground running, sokler needs league goals.
-
I’m still willing to give sokler time. After the window closes it will become clearer since we’ll have all pieces in place by then, hopefully one or two more on board. Even once miovski leaves I think it helps him, rather than miovski sitting on the bench watching. We have sokler gueye and Ambrose, then bavidge. Right now, season to date, that’s not a great bunch. But we’re winning and scoring goals, so that’s ok for now. But once we stop winning the pressure increases.

Worth a look??

To be fair, st mirren are what most of our league are, it’s a poor league. Maybe hearts are decent but other than the old firm, this is what we play most weeks. All winnable game as long as we show up. One game a week really helps JT do some work and develop the team. Add a decent winger, we have depth in center mid once clarkson and polvara are fit, we just need a center forward scoring goals. Hope it’s sokler but he needs to fire league goals quickly or his confidence will go.
-
Molloy has been pretty solid first two league games. However, I’m not sure if st mirren were big up top but I don’t recall him winning many headers. Is he poor in the air?? Poor goal to lose but of the three I think ruby should have got it away. vinnie looked lively, I’d rather see him start over Morris…... although new guy starts over both. Thought sokler was poor and Ambrose just doesn’t look very good. Gueye looks like a decent player to bring off the bench. Starting to think a new 9 is needed. didn’t think we were great today, but second half I though we were in control. we’re also buying time until another starting player or two comes in. Worried about sivert seeing red after the early booking but thought he handled it well. Today, sivert booking and shinnie getting hurt, it’s a day a solid third center mid is needed. Hope that’s ante. Lastly, we have a few too many divers for my liking, McGrath in particular.

Thank fuck morris can’t shoot!!
-
Meh first half, glimpse of good play but st mirren aren’t a bad side. Guess we get used to giving opponents possession too, that’s a factor. Plus a shitty equalizer. Morris started well but has disappeared. as one who has spoken up for him, sokler has been poor so far, should have been stronger through on goal, plus loads of heavy touches. He’s got to link and not doing that much at present. Hard to read gueye, not bad but takes too many touches at times but not to the extreme of duk. nervous about sivert, can he play the rest of the game on a booking. At the same time, same said for Shawn Rooney.

Think hearts will struggle much like we did last year, much like us, do they have the depth to handle the schedule? I doubt it.
-
Yes and no. They bossed us because we were pish. Different team with confidence, and stronger mentality now. I also think we’re a stronger midfield with sivert, and a bumper crowd helps too. given miovski has supposedly spoken to clubs it’s harder to play him now that a transfer seems close. Do a Lewis Ferguson and it’s a nightmare. Maybe a last few mins cameo/goodbye? to be fair to Morris, as much as I don’t rate him either, he’s not been awful. Involved in mcgraths goal on Monday, and has goals and assists in league cup. He starts for now. following up on gueye, has he ever started for us? I don’t think he’s been given enough time and I think there’s something there. Miovski and sokler have good chemistry, why not try gueye with sokler? With limited midfielders and JT saying ante isn’t quite ready, why not try him with from the start?
-
I’m assuming we go with our best 11 from last week, although removing miovski and with current injuries, not sure who comes in. Or does he start his last game?? Wouldn’t mind seeing the same 11 as last week except gueye for miovski at 10 behind sokler. Do we get a last 5 mins goodbye from miovski?? yes st mirren have confidence but are they really any good? Or just one of the better shit teams last year. wish we were in Europe but certainly nice to get a week of training each week, getting players familiar with JTs approach and tactics, and getting new players acclimitized. 2-0 us. Sokler and gueye.
-
Boy seems to have a fair bit of pace, big loon too. Seems to play on the left, are we moving McGrath to the right??
-
Trying to be pragmatic. Let’s sub in clarkson for miovski, and the Finn for Morris. I’d love a stronger bench but, excluding keepers, we have polvara, palaversa, Vinny, gueye, Ambrose, Morris, Jensen, Macdonald, mcgarry, Richardson, Morris, plus Duncan, Boyd, Milne, bavidge, and stewart. And duk! many of these guys we paid for and a few i suspect are on a decent wage. While replacing a bunch immediately would be great, it’s going to take a few windows to rebuild a squad, getting rid of as well as bringing in players. this is the patience JT asked for, and he said it would take a few windows. from what I have seen so far, I’m certainly willing to give him time.
-
Sloppy journalism for the retard, reporting this will be one of our highest paid signings, referencing gilhaus, windass, and dodds as our highest. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t 1M for Paul Bernard our highest fee paid??
-
You are suggesting we just offer Shayden in a straight swap? Good call
-
If we can sign a winger, and if this Finn were to be the guy, I’m good as is with the squad. If it’s say 7m for bojan, paying 1m - 1.5m or so for this guy isn’t unreasonable or impossible, plus sell on %. We are due a big signing, especially with bojan going, I could see this happening. JT called for patience and multiple windows, don’t really want another 10 summer signings. Work with what we have, develop a few youngsters, and work on a way to punt a few squad fillers over the next season. Maybe add a couple or loaners and develop the squad. last point, would mind seeing sokler and gueye up front Sunday is bojan is gone. Gueye is not a window play and reminds me of JET. Could be productive…..or not.
-
Looks like from media pics of training today ante is training and #18. Can you train without work permit?? Does this mean he scores a hat trick of 30 yarders on Sunday? Watched a few clips, boys pings a lovely long ball with either foot.
-
Miovski in advanced talks with Girona, 3rd in La Liga last year. That would be quite a move for him. No clue what the city group is, an agreement with man city and x number of clubs? Two being Troyes and Girona I gather.
-
With ante, what’s the deal with work permit etc? I think he needs clearance, is that a quick fix? Can we expect him to be available to play this weekend??
-
The way McGrath and Mackenzie are combining on the left, I dont think we need a traditional left winger. Certainly don’t think McGrath plays or is being asked to play as a winger. These two are playing well and we get good attacking width from them.
-
I dont believe it….
-
Maybe someone can educate me, why did we get rid of the reserve league? Great way to blood youngsters against seasoned pros, get squad players good minutes weekly, plus give guys on their way back from injury (or loss of form) the chance to build match sharpness. its still competitive but not so do or die like the championship. Would be a good place for the likes of boyd to develop physically.
-
Exactly my thinking. JT seems to have a bit about him, think him sticking around learning would be a real benefit to both parties.
-
Fuck him. And Mikey Johnson. Shayden is better anyway. In all seriousness, we have clarkson and polvara coming back, a loaner center mid is probably more realistic. so are we linked with this Croatian guy palaversa??
-
Last season was a cameo, young guy in games that ultimately mattered little. This time around it’s senior pros playing for their livelihoods and thelin figuring out his best 11 and squad depth. Boyd’s time will come, I wouldn’t be surprised if he saw very little first team mins or even went out on loan.

St Johnstone v Aberdeen - new season optimism?
OrlandoDon replied to OrlandoDon's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Don’t agree morris looked great at times, I thought he made the wrong decision almost every time. Why the fuck goes a guy with great pace not go outside and hit space every time?? And for a guy with so called lightening pace he never blew by anyone once. He’s a low IQ football player who really needs confidence, getting both improved to get the most out of him will be very difficult. if we have to keep him he’s a super sub, throw him in when we need something or have nothing to lose, but tonight if he had brains and balls he scores and or assists on maybe 3??
