  1. Hard one to pick 11. I’d also argue the lineup above is more like 5 forwards, jess and mason being forwards. We’ve had talent too, some have just stayed with us longer. Does this come with the requirement of being in a good team?? Or with us x years? Was Shay Logan in his prime better than Kev? McKimmie was with us post Ferguson and arguably our best ever right back. Irvine was a die hard but limited player, not unlike considine. Not a top 11 player but certainly a top don. McKenna is a better player. Although I always thought arnason was an excellent central defender. Anderson was also pretty shit early on. Seve was excellent for us, injury limited his career. Was mcginn or Hayes in their prime better than mason? zero probably compares to gilhaus?
  2. So it’s Gordon and Souttar who will miss out, a little surprised at that. No clue if Gordon is a shadow of his former self but surely his experience helps and can’t see Kelly playing unless the other two get injured. is there any real difference between Souttar, Hanley, and cooper? Guess the latter two are experienced premiership players and Souttar plays for a relatively new team to Scottish football. Plus the hun seems to be injured regularly…?
  3. And then come back and spend most days with shayden Morris and Jayden Richardson. Dream come true!
  4. Yeah, Clarke and I talked about Morgan, and I even offered to help arrange the flight. He also said Kelly and cooper will head home or be ball boys.
  5. Yeah. I honestly think both of the boys over here, Gauld and Morgan, could have added to the squad. It’s sad to say, we’re a depressing group now, minimal creativity and flair. Said it before, I’d be inclined to play mctominnay up top, he was a forward, and play mcginn mcgregor and gilmour in the middle. Not sure we can play Adam’s up top too or add Christie. Probably it will be Adams, not sure Clarke wants the levein 4-6-0, though we’d be a 3-7-0 or 5-5-0. A little lightweight too unfortunately but we’re so limited now. We’re married to the 3/5 at the back I think and I don’t think we have the type of players for it now.
  6. Ben Doak out, Conway in. Really shows our lack of talent. Would have taken the red head from Ross county, big physical loon who is scoring goals!!
  7. Pay very little attention to MLS but looks like he’s scored 14 in 16 games for them this season and is well on form. Scored a hat trick against Miami (Messi and I all the old stars) this season from what I see.
  8. Lewis Morgan doing well and scoring goals, worth a Scotland look?
  9. Ryan jack to killie to rejoin mcinnes??
  10. Well, look at it this way. Opportunity for shankland to shine and earn a big money move. Prove how good he is. His confidence is high and he’s the only forward who has played consistently recently. Match sharp and ready to go. Maybe we also play better football since we don’t have the long ball option quite so much. alternatively, do we play mctominay up front? Would be keen on that had we Ferguson fit to come into midfield.
  11. I see Stevie Mallan is a free agent after leaving salford. While that was league two, I’m sure it was the paycheck that attracted him to that club, I do feel he’s Scottish premiership level. Worth a look? Seem to remember him being a decent player for hibs and st mirren. While I don’t see him being a star summer signing, we have minimal width and he could be a decent squad player for us.
  12. I think cutting from 28 to 26 is pretty open, 5 or 6 either not playing for their clubs or recovering from injury. It’s not a fit squad. Ideally it’s cut a keeper and one more. I’d have picked 30 and cut 4 as I think we’ll be taking players who aren’t fit/match sharp. The more I think about it, I’d have taken Barron for example and one other to make 30 as Barron is fit and on form, who knows what jack presently offers.
  13. I expect to see that at pittodrie in a couple of months, sweeping move involving Richardson, Morris, mcgarry, loanee baldursson, and a lovely gueye finish. Quality!
  14. Don’t care for Celtic but don’t really have a strong dislike. Rangers, on the other hand, I despise. With a passion. Want them to lose home, away, cups, Europe etc. Delighted it’s a weekend we don’t lose and they do! Especially in a cup, a final, and at the death! Don’t care if we sign ex rangers through, and don’t care if they play for Scotland, they get my support there, but the club itself. No love there! Curious to others take??
  15. Considering we played him out of position to accommodate others I think he’s had a great season. I think he’s a true #10 but doesn’t fit with the players we had, shinnie Rama and McGrath would be great balance. Think it’s hard to play him and clarkson together centrally, but with no right mid he did well there. Good squad player to have if you ask me, especially if anyone were to offer decent money for clarkson.
  16. Thought sokler has looked good of late, fast, powerful, and has shown some nice hold up /link play, layoffs etc. he technical and last preseason showed he’s a decent finisher. With a decent run of games he gains real match sharpness. Think he’s done enough to be 9 assuming miovski moves on.
  17. Seebass, I moved to the US when I was 22, 51 now. I still try to watch as many games as possible but I don’t take defeats the way I used to when I lived at home. while very disappointed to lose to Darvel, not a single person I work with knew about the game, and nobody had ever heard of darvel, possibly Aberdeen too! My British friends know I’m an Aberdeen fan and they’ll comment if we have a big game, but it’s nothing like living back home. It’s very easy to push a defeat into the background over here, back home it’s rubbed in your face and you can’t get away from it. I was 10 in 1983 and have very fond memories of winning the cup winners cup. I listened to most of the euro games on the radio and my bedtime was 9pm. Very fond memories of David Francie, Archie McPherson, jock brown too, Derek Rae later on, never really took to Arthur Montfort commentary. Remember listening to the Bayern game and jumping up and down on my bed at full time. Got upset with my babysitter at the time, she didn’t seem to care. Semi at home to watershei was during Easter holidays I think, maybe not, and my family were caravanning at yellowcraig near north berwick. Remember brushing my teeth at the toilet block with the radio blasting as we hammered them. I was allowed to stay up and watch the final, still don’t believe it was 41 years ago. Slept in my full kit that night, including the socks! Don’t really think about beating Real Madrid and really care about their record. I really don’t pay that much attention to anyone other than us and Scotland. I will say this, I was absolutely devastated when we lost to Porto in the semis the following year. We were the best team in Europe and I just assumed we’d repeat, I thought it was a given. Nice to think about all this stuff, doesn’t seem that long ago and makes me feel old!
  18. It’s quite a situation really. In the last month we’ve ditched the long ball/direct style and have shown we’ve got some capable players who can play football. Now we bring in a guy with a known approach of a direct style. said before, a good coach plays a style that suits the players, curious to see what JT can do!
  19. Just noticed hoilett actually turns 34 next month. Cannot see many teams better than us offering a better opportunity…..or more money. One year deal seems right. Must have enjoyed the last month, been a bit of a fans favorite.

    VAR

Just read about EPL clubs voting whether to scrap VAR. what would it take for Scottish clubs to be able to vote on it? Really curious to why anyone or any club would vote in favor of keeping it. would love to know if VAR intervention has cost us more goals than given us….? or any team to be truthful. Today, yet again, a penalty and goal when not a single player or fan paused for a second to claim for a penalty yet VAR creates an incident and pretty much gets the assist on the goal.

    VAR

Surely the ref has to consider the foul on sokler before the hand ball? I just don’t understand how that isn’t seen or is ignored.

    VAR

Anyone want to attempt to explain/justify the livi penalty?
  23. Yeah, factor in where polvara played, more advanced attacking role. If he’s expected to be a holding mid or a Rama type, that he’s not. not following the hype of Boyd, definitely a young kid playing with men. Great to see him, give him another year or two to develop, most likely out on loan.
  24. Beat me to the punch. Just when we think we are the worst hibs prove a point!!! Thank fuck we didn’t go that route…!
  25. Like the new strip, glad to see the back of the gold trim.
