What’s frustrating when you look at our team I don’t think we have many bad players. I dont rate duncan, gueye, or morris, haven’t seen enough of Milne, and can’t judge Philips, but the rest can play. It’s the manager. And McGrath has been one of our best players of late so let’s play him at right wing back when we need a goal??? i assume polvara and Barron were ill so didn’t play? As for the formation, back to the shit that results in shit. What a surprise.
-
Saw about a hour and what I saw was fucking horrible. Dundee moved the ball well at times. As usual we did not. Don’t recall their keeper making a save. thought gueye looked like a guy from the park, got the ball, fucked around, and didnt know what to do. Made duk look like a smart player. Philips played like he was desperate to impress, worked hard but saw nothing to suggest he can play. tactics horrible and rotten performance. Consistent:

Going for 3-1 us, maybe 4. Something makes me think we’ll play really well. miovski 2, shinnie, and clarkson. Time for a lie down…

I understand what you are saying but you certainly have a glass is half full approach. I tend to be that way but I’m passed that with Robson. I said to give him time but I’ve done that. We are also 5 point off second bottom. i don’t see enough to suggest he’s our long term manager. Glass is getting mentioned quite a bit these days, I think he was a forward thinking modern manager who had a decent tactical approach. He wanted us playing football. He did play players out of position but you rectify that with new additions over time. theres nothing appealing to our play, Robson admits he’s made many mistakes. We’re not getting acceptable results and really haven’t all year. I dont think we’re the size of club, or in a situation, where we can wait for Robson to find his feet. I said when Goodwin was canned as manager that we’re a bigger club who need experience, we need a squad overhaul and we’re still at that point. Mcinnes to an extent walked into a good situation, the current situation to me requires more experience, building a squad, a style of play etc. I think it’s just too much for Robson, and we are talking about group stage euro football as an annual goal, almost mandatory, top 6 is questionable right now. No euro football has significant money and transfer consequences.
-
Has to be the latter, although someone with a resume like mcinnes when he came to us is certainly acceptable. Been crying out for experience since glass, surely we can’t go young and mostly unproven for a fourth time in a row!

Think it was a toss up between this bloke and recalling Richardson, but richardson’s car broke down. Inspiring loanee!!
-
Are we sure it’s not kalvin phillips and this is an error on the medias part? He’d fit what we need.
-
Perhaps, Dundee is no gimmie, we’ll lose both old firm games and we’re now three more games closer to the end of the season. I’d argue get a new guy in asap, the longer we wait the harder qualifying for Europe becomes. Money matters, it’s costing us keeping Robson, no Europe and recruitment becomes harder too.
-
So how much does var cost clubs and the governing body? Radical thinking but what if we put that money into referee development and training instead? Are we able to cancel bar much like we added it during a season? var has created a different sport, this week alone without var we’d lose to st Johnstone and arguably we beat hearts today. The hearts fan noise on every play in our box immediately after var rules our goal out was obvious, trying to get var to play for them. Players hounding refs on calls to get var involved, that didn’t happen as much or in certain situations before var. the game delays don’t make the game better. Good goals are ruled out, and var creates goals that never should happen. Didn’t see the penalty today but sounds harsh on devlin, var has created var goals that don’t occur without var. it’s not good for the sport. poor calls were made by human error, in hindsight I can accept that I suppose. Var is are creating goals and changing games, and after every goal scored and conceded we stare at the ref and wonder/hope will var change things. It’s not good for the game.
-
Ha! The start of a conversation! So who would you suggest? We have to give life to this thread, I’d say Robson has us worse than Goodwin or glass.
-
So we have 6 league wins in six months. How can our leadership justify keeping Robson? What is he doing right? What is he doing that gives us hope? What is he doing to tell cormack and co he’s clearly man for the job?? Glass had a style of play and wasn’t overly backed financially, Goodwin to an extent had one bad month, we’ve been gash most of the season. Being plucky losers in Europe isn’t that tag I want, cup runners up masked some shit league cup performances, can we please end this shit? throwing it back out there, who is next in the hot seat? What’s John Collins doing these days? Was ahead of his time when he started coaching, fitness, nutrition, bringing a European approach that Scottish players struggled with.

I don’t see it that way. Go on a run like last year and fourth very realistic. Third is tough but you never know. Hearts have been shit of late, we should have taken them today, var fucked us. the sooner we punt Robson the better. Today we showed we’re capable, Robson gets in the way. Doing more harm than good based on what we’ve seen this year. We’re not the kind of club that we can allow a rookie manager to make so many mistakes to learn and grow. get two wide players in, Campbell or baccus, and give a new guy the chance to salvage a season. good cup run is also not unrealistic, rangers and Celtic aren’t world beaters this year. New guy, new energy, and salvage a season, much like last year.
-
It’s brutal, basically any 50/50, chance of a foul, handball etc and fans call for foul so that they get a var check. It’s changing the game, much like has been said before, your players need to claim everything in the hope of the ref then going to var. awful.
-
There is just as much contact from the defender on miovski on his shot that led to the corner there. Fucking nonsense var.
-
Fuck var. yet again. Purely incidental contact. Can we bin it now. Ruining my enjoyment, causing more issues than before it came about. Killing the sport.
-
20 mins in. Very good start. Means nothing without a goal though.
-
I just read this. Another reason to scrap var, we never get things 100% right, why make it harder.
-
If I were Robson I’d study the Brazilian box midfield. They used to regularly play 4 central mids, two defensive and two attacking with 2 forwards. The width came from the full backs, think they still played it with Cafu and Roberto Carlos, and the holding mids covered them as they pushed on or couldn’t get back quick enough. the attacking mids went wide either overlapping the forwards or moving and penetrating centrally with the forwards going wide. A lot of movement and rotation. I’d agree we’re not Brazil but there’s a way to do it with the squad we have! Takes an open minded and intelligent coach to implement!
-
Ange to Liverpool? Seems like their kind of guy. thinking cormack is giving Robson until the summer to allow a seamless change with klopp coming in. The shit winter window makes sense too now, klopp bringing in his own guys in the summer with him.
-
I think we also learned last winter window that two or three signings can completely change a season. Bringing in pollock and Macdonald really help turn things around. Bringing in two wingers could have the same effect. Obviously many including me have commented about the lack of a Rama replacement , but we do have options for center mid. Carrying a squad with little or no wide midfield options is killing us, we all see that. I’ll be stunned if this isn’t rectified in this window, at the very least with loan deals.

Any news on ruby? Injured??
-
According to the bbc Mattie Pollock has submitted a transfer request and wants a move away from watford. Not our first priority but worth a look?!??
-
Roos has always been back with crosses, saw that when he first joined us, the reason he almost never leaves his line/6 yd box for a high ball. No clue why he chose tonight to come for one and remind us how shit he is at that…..credit to Joe Lewis, he was the opposite!
-
We are not linked to anyone. We’re not enjoyable to watch, and not getting results. Been that way the vast majority of the season. Given what we’ve seen of late, and the whole season really, I think top 6 will be a struggle.
-
didn’t see the whole game but lack of width stood out to me which meant way too much long or through the middle. Very predictable and easy to stop. i also think it’s another game we miss a ramadani type, just not enough graft, physicality, and influence in central areas to drive us on or break them down. The balance is off with Barron, McGrath, and clarkson much more flair but also more chance of inconsistency if the game isn’t for them. Plus they don’t really suit a long ball game and with minimal width it’s harder for them. Tonight needed more graft, presence, and drive.
