  1. You sound like my wife with her overreaction to a comment I make. Don’t think anyone wants the one year loans of the past. As I said, I’d support a one year loan with the established set option to buy, much like I believe the deal was initially with mccrorie. Don’t buy the holding our youngsters back, if they were good enough they’d be playing. Plus, the crap about not playing against the parent club, that’s 4 games a season, maybe a cup game. It’s the results against every other team that will determine our season, not 4 games versus rangers or Celtic. Don’t think scales not playing against Celtic was a factor in our season last year….not ideal but we handle injuries, suspensions, missing 4 out of 40 games if we get a permanent deal that benefits us for x years, and x profit selling on is worth it. We can pay, say £1m for Johnson for example, or pay a similar amount for Morris, gueye, and Richardson who, in my opinion, in Morris and gueye are just as much holding our youngsters back. Would rather see bavidge and Duncan get their minutes.
  2. If they are established first team Celtic or rangers players we cannot afford them and they are most likely too good for us. I also don’t care if they came from rangers or Celtic, if they make us better and want to play here I’m interested. i honestly think this is a market we should be looking seriously at. Old firm fringe bargains. McGinn is one of the best players I’ve seen play for us, mccrorie was good, and we’d all have signed Christie and scales. Either pay to buy them or loan with agreed option to buy. They have players that would walk into our team who clearly don’t play enough, I’m sure we could benefit here. No doubt it’s looked at, but it appears strategy is to buy unknown cheaper foreigners and punt them for profit, but signing balance and known quality has to be considered too.
  3. Maybe, did you sense that in mccrorie and mcginn? Christie when here, scales?
  4. Read in a couple of places, no clue how accurate, that he’s on £7,900 weekly.
  5. Every player would get the fans excited if they were good. We paid to gamble on Hernandez, Richardson, gueye, Morris amongst others from what I understand, all a risk and all have been shit. You pay more for Johnson but I’d say he’s proven to be at least our level. I’d agree in that he’s probably out of range, but it would be a certainly very nice signing, and we’re much more likely to get a solid sell on.
  6. Don’t want to get hopes up, back 4 by the looks of things??
  7. You think so? We’ve spent money on players in recent years, plus taken money in for player sales and Europe. We’re investing in players we think we can sell on for profit, you don’t see Johnson in that category? I get he’s more high profile than many we sign or are linked to, but he’s the type of player/signing I think would excite fans and be a real hit…..unlike a morris or Richardson (or Hernandez?!) who we also paid for.
  8. I’d say the same argument for Johnson here could have been had for Niall mcginn? I’d also compare it to Ryan Christie in a way, could be very good for us if we’d spend a little. He’ll do well for us and a loan here would in turn put him out our price range like Christie (if it hasn’t already). also interesting, he has 8 caps for ROI. Jamie McGrath has 12. I think this would be a really good signing for us.
  9. And a return to Scotland for Curtis main, signed for Dundee. What next, maybe we can resign ojo or mcgeouch? Or who was the lad we got from Atlanta???
  10. Does he still have his pace? Always seemed to be running in sand, made considine look like Usain Bolt.
  11. We’re talking back up until the summer at worst, I’d say Milne or gartenmann are good enough there. The excitement of Richardson returning in June too, will be like a new signing. I actually think gartenmann could be pretty good out wide from what I’ve seen, with ruby macdonald and Jensen in the middle, plus Mackenzie can play left center if needed. Think we still need to prioritize the midfield. My weekly mikey Johnson shout now with Celtic signing another winger…..
  12. Hard for me to say much about gartenmann as I don’t see us much these days, but I haven’t been overly impressed when I’ve seen us play. Devlin has been the pick of the defenders but given how poor we’ve been as a team, losing goals and losing games, hard to overly praise. I’ll only start to get somewhat excited if we sign midfielders!
  13. Nobody posted Tom Wilkinson. Not the glamorous type but a very good actor and impressive career.
  14. For sure, loads of positive reports, playing well, scoring goals, and captained the side. Plus had public praise from the manager who is keen to keep him. He seems to be seen as an all around midfielder, plus the praise for his leadership, fearlessness, and calm under pressure. Would love to see him at juve of the likes, or in the premiership. He’s a step above our league now for sure, not sure of his $$ value?!?? Given the players that move for a ton of money, 20 mill seems real value.
  15. OrlandoDon

    Serie A

Lewis not in the squad yesterday, no sign of injury or suspension. Transfer imminent??
  16. Hate the silence of the window, desperately keen to see some midfielders join up asap, and get on the training pitch to gel while we take the winter break to get up to speed. Haven’t seen us linked with anyone other than the other day and the Japanese left back. Crickets on baccus, thought there might be something there given he’s out of contract in the summer. since I’m bored out my mind, curious on people’s thoughts, who will have the largest transfer fee this window? Duk, bojan, McKenna, or Lewis Ferguson??
  17. I’d say sokler is the direct replacement for miovski. At least he should be given until the summer to show he’s capable. As for duk, selling him is intriguing as, as he’s been stated many times, he was the main cause of the whole 3 at the back, we changed an entire system to get him in the team when he did well but we found out he’s not a wide player. Losing him gives us the opportunity to really look for a wide player, left or right, and go back to 4 at the back and hopefully 4-2-3-1. Even 4-3-2-1 if we don’t get wide players in this window, McGrath and one other playing off sokler in that case. Agree with whoever said it, Mikey johnson scoring twice the other week gave Celtic something to think about, plus maybe put him on the radar for clubs, but I still see him as what we need. Possibly Rocco vata too?? random one and nothing to do with these two, max Lowe is out of contract this summer, worth a look?? Can we afford his wages? I know we’re now trying to sign youngsters and sell them on for profit, but he’s one I would take back and he’s only 27.
  18. Vinnie is only 22, I think there is potential there if used correctly. Matty had peaked in my opinion and we saw what he had, not that much. Morris is just fast, not much else to say there, Rico is pretty accurate in his thoughts re morris. see McKenna linked to both rangers and Celtic. Would obviously hope he doesn’t go to either but ultimately just want him to sign for anyone for a fee than end up getting nothing from a pre contract and summer move. We got nothing for Fraser, obvious don’t want to miss out again.
  19. 100% vinnie is not suited to the wing back role with a back 3, he’s an attacking wide player, maybe even a 10, but if we play 4-2-3-1 I think he could be useful ahead of devlin or maybe Mackenzie. Think there’s talent there but we’ll never know exactly what happened between him and Robson. I’d take vinnie over morris, that’s for sure.
  20. You and I are usually pretty much in line so I’ll assume you’ve still got a new years buzz. Would rather watch morris dancing. Right mid a January priority, I’d even rather see Richardson recalled and him or devlin at right mid before morris.
  21. I actually like sokler and would like him given a chance until the end of the season if miovski were to be a January departure. 2.5 mil for duk, would totally jump at that. Although, euros or pounds, and what’s the difference?!??
  22. Kind of unfair but Robson had time with the squad prior to the st mirren game and look what happened there. You can argue he prepped for games that got postponed but he’s had the squad together for close to 6 months, today is what we should expect regularly, not be a pleasant surprise.
  23. I tried to watch the game, on a cruise to the Bahamas and Mexico, WiFi is shitty and actually got refunded the WiFi fee, I’ll submit the receipt if needed, gutted to be called a hun. Despite a good result and performance 100% I don’t believe all is good and fine, just like I still don’t believe in Robson, and one good cross doesn’t make morris our right midfielder. We need to use this window to fix things, much like last year, except this year it’s a center mid and wingers. We’ve been piss all year but 3rd is still very much in our reach.
  24. Midfield is an issue, I agree, but the back 3 is/was an issue too. You saw three at the back early season really get really exposed and stretched, and it’s asking a hell of a lot from devlin and mcgarry/mackenzie. Results in 5 at the back and very limited width in the attacking third. 4-2-3-1 is much better for a squad of limited ability, and something we’ll do better at.
  25. Didn’t see the game, in the Bahamas for a little break! I fully understand Robson sticking with 3 at the back until November, giving the summer signings a chance to gel before making changes, but I suppose he stuck with it until the end of Europe. But now he has to make change, couple of games now where we’re clearly better with a back 4. Losing Barron is a loss but we still have to sign a center mid regardless, and we have depth there. As pointed out, we had center mids wide in polvara and McGrath, hopefully we sign a left and right mid this window and kick on in January.
