Sell on clause and release fee I’d assume but great business! keep in mind he’s a good young player, not an internationalist like Charlie or gillhaus. Look at the buzz around Connor Barron when he came into the team and he’s certainly stalled. Let’s not put too much pressure or expectation on the guy. I’d compare him to Lewis Ferguson as he is coming here to play weekly and as a stepping stone to bigger and better things. Yes, Ferguson hadn’t impressed here on loan first, but we were his next step. Smart by clarkson coming here and he’ll play every minute he wants more or less, play in Europe, and we’re a great shop window. adding shinnie and pollock would be nice, not being greedy!

I think getting or not getting shinnie is huge. He was massive for us and his influence on our improvement cannot but understated. No surprise we had a bit of a wobble when he was suspended. I’ll also add that if it was easy to find a replacement we’d have done that. As mentioned, I’ll be gutted if we don’t get him. I can also see him playing until mid/late 30s, you may not see as many lung busting runs but his influence will continue for a while. 32 still gives us a good 3-4 years in my opinion.

For me it’s losing the league to the huns on the last day of the season in 1991 when we shat it. We did so well to get to that situation and I’ll never forgive Michael watt for being a big puss. remember being crushed when we lost the second leg semi at home 1-0 to Porto in 1984. I was only 11 but I just assumed we’d win and overcome the 1-0 first leg. After all, we were the best team in Europe. Obviously 1983 is talked about but in 84 it was us, the favorites I think, Porto, juve, and man utd in the semis. Crazy!

Saw today us linked to Morgan Feeney, 24 yr old central defender and captain of Carlisle Utd. Anyone know if he’s decent? Also supposedly linked to hearts and hibs. No clue to the truth in this as I’ve seen this guy, Clark Robertson, Michael rose, and Jay Idzes mentioned in the last week or so….

Guy has had a very good season but hopefully we’ve learned our lesson with Curtis main and JET, plus in duk and miovski we’ve learned that scouting and looking can get us something better.

Well, came back down with a bump today. Made me think about what’s missing for next year. He’s my take - Roos is solid, happy with him. Really hope we go back to a back 4, Devlin at right back, Macdonald and….if it’s scales we need a left back, but happy with scales at left back if we find a legit central defender. Happy to take pollock back obviously. So, if Devlin signs we need two starting defenders. today showed we have no back up plan for center mid, plus we have shit width. Sign shinnie, we have rama, possibly clarkson. If we keep clarkson I’d go with those 3 central, if we can’t get clarkson I’d sign a 10 to play behind miovski. We need one more central mid to keep competition fresh and to be able to bring quality off the bench. We have no plan B when center mid doesn’t work. So, we need 3 central midfielders to add to rama. we need two legit wingers, right and left. We have piss poor width and hayes can only be relied on so much. I’d take Vinny back as back up to two wingers being signed. up top I like miovski. Call me crazy but I’d try to cash in duk now. He’s had a great year but he’s hard to fit into a team. We changed our whole style of play and formation for him, more cos we were piss than duk being the new Messi. He doesn’t pass and very hard to have a style of play with him. And when he’s bad he’s bad. I predict he’ll be less successful next year as teams will figure him out so cash him in now. so, from a starting 11 we need 3 defenders, 2 center mids, and 2 wingers to add to roos Macdonald Rama and miovski. That a tough summer to be successful!! (Obviously we need a bench too!) Funds from selling mccrorie, duk, and McKenna add ons certainly help!

Got sacked by us and now gets United relegated. Quite a resume building season. Never wanted him as manager but seems a nice bloke who came across well in the media. Would like to see him given a chance to make things right at United but coming straight back up is a really tough ask.

With Nicky Devlin potentially on his way, who are the best of the rest that would improve our squad. Not by any means star signings or glamorous but SPL players, ideally a scot or two as well. Not Scottish but Jamie McGrath worth a look with United all but down?

Considine never changed, he was always slow and made mistakes. We just had a period when we were the second then third best team in the league and we were a good attacking team. He had less to do and was less exposed. I think scales is quicker, more skilled, and will improve. i’d argue almost all of thought wtf when fat duk played his first game. Obviously we were all wrong but first impressions weren’t good.

You really see that as an unrealistic point. Players get that all the time. It’s the mentality of the low life football fan and unfortunately we have them too. I get your point about feelings but some footie fans are so primitive in nature, if we have the opportunity to sign a free transfer that makes us better it’s short sighted to turn it down.

Our signings will most likely end up dictating the formation. Get our first choice right and left back for example then it’s most likely a back 4. If we were to resign scales and pollock for example, we build around a back 3. We don’t have the funds to buy players to fit a system, we have to sign the best players we can afford and figure out the formation that suits them best. Sadly. we have to offload. We signed some shit last year and cannot afford a bloated squad. Plus we’ve seen with Goodwin, and last few games with Robson, a handful of guys can’t play for us. Morris Roberts Stewart Richardson Watkins polvara and Kennedy aren’t good enough and we don’t have the luxury to afford to keep them around. Possibly mylovic too. More than a handful. Id say we got it right with miovski duk Rama Roos, if we can get 4 more legit starters that’s a great start. Roos Macdonald Rama duk/miovski are the only legit starters we have, and I say it that way as I don’t see both duk and miovski here in august, we’ll cash one in. it’s essential we sign shinnie. We’ve seen his impact, a huge factor in our turnaround, and a huge hole when he’s been suspended. We’ve been pretty shit without him. I also think we continue the clarkson/Maddison/Christie strategy when we really shoot hard for a top loaner from the big English clubs as the creative midfielder (yes, Christie was Celtic), it may be expensive but if Morris and roberts are the best we can afford, this loanee is a massive signing. I’ll throw it out there and say Robson is a players coach and can inspire. Could vinnie do a job for him, #10 behind miovski? I think so. He’s still young and raw we have to remember, he’s got talent. I don’t give a shit that he signed for the Huns, I’d take Scott Wright back. I’d take arfield too even though he’s 34. Ralston, welsh, James Forrest, can we afford them? I’d use Barron as a chip to deal there.

As compared to morris Richardson coulson markanday Stewart myslovic Roberts etc.? no clue what this guy does to be fair, so not sure if a replacement will be any better or worse.

Stopped watching when it went 2-1 as we were too poor to enjoy, subbing made me less interested too. St mirren at home with shinnie back, I’d expect better. No clue on the status of duk or mccrorie as there were murmurs they’d play today. Hopefully some or all of these guys and a win Wednesday helps, especially with hearts at Ibrox.

It’s days like this you see how shit a squad we have. Missing shinnie mccrorie and duk kills us and we rely on players not good enough. Then we bring on subs who are even worse and have a more negative effect. our good run coincided with a healthy team and the same 11 playing, what a drop off. Influence of shinnie is massive too.
