  1. Nobody is asking for or expects us to do anything financially irresponsible. I don’t see us as that club anyway, and don’t think we have been for close to 20 years. What Dundee did in the past means fuck all to me, plus they went to shit financially anyway. I don’t expect or want that. What I am asking is that we explore every opportunity. And as I repeatedly say, if you don’t ask you don’t get. What’s the worst that can happen, we get told to fuck off. And as I keep saying, regardless of money, why does Charlie Nicholas come to us? London and a top club like arsenal to Aberdeen?? I didn’t expect that. We were not Ferguson’s dons by then. never heard of the Celtic manager until they signed him. And look at the players they are bringing in. they could have easily gone for a predictable premiership reject but failing with Eddie Howe, they went out and were creative. Seems to be working for them. So far. While we are on a different financial level to Celtic, let’s be equally ambitious and creative within our constraints. Hiring glass was ambitious and risky, but it was clear to most if not all of us that he didn’t have the experience. It showed. Learn from that. Goodwin may be up and coming but he isn’t experienced either. He hasn’t achieved a single thing at st mirren other than preventing them from being shite. No cup, cup finals, or Europe. The expectation and pressure in that job is totally different to us. I just don’t see that much appeal to him. He may be great in the future, he may even end up shite this year and st mirren finish nearer the bottom than top of the league. ross in not unlike mcinnes. He has proven he’s capable. Lennon is capable too. Goodwin just doesn’t have it for me. Yet. At the same time, I hope we are creative and look outside of the token fishbowl where we can all guess the candidates. I hate being linked to the same dour bunch. Again. Sorry to keep saying, shoot for the moon, but be responsible financially. Can we afford OGS? Probably not. Duncan Ferguson? Unlikely. But why not ask? Leicester won the league. Never saw that coming. Villa just signed coutinho. Erickson to Brentford. Money talks but it’s still surprise signings. Why not someone special to Aberdeen? I do feel we are an appealing job and think there’s a good one out there for us. If we look and if we ask.
  2. God forbid they aim high. Can I suggest they don’t deserve better than Yogi Hughes? You should have a word there and set them straight.
  3. Reading reports, no clue how accurate, that we are discussing compensation with st mirren. Blown away by this if goodwin is our guy. most want a manager with experience and say that’s where glass failed. Is a stint at alloa and a couple of years at st mirren good enough experience? Does that truly transfer to managing us? Hasn’t won anything, hasn’t managed outside of Scotland, no European experience. Has he even experienced a cup final, too lazy to check? I’d even value the battle hardened experience of being sacked before. Surely we should be looking at all of the above, plus a manager with national and international connections. While I’m not saying Lennon or Ross are the answer, they are more qualified than goodwin. I see goodwin as slightly more experienced than glass and coaching st mirren to not be shite doesn’t win me over. as I mentioned before, goodwin is the flavor of the month, not unlike tommy Wright or callum Davidson. I think we should be aiming for better.
  4. You keep running to it’s stupid and it’s ridiculous. It’s not. If you don’t ask you don’t get. You run to the money argument but you’re not in football, don’t know the personnel, and make assumptions. Your assumptions may be correct but you, ultimately, have no idea. I’ve never met ole personally and don’t know his bank balance, pretty sure he could manage us for free if he wanted. That is a silly argument, but you don’t know people and their mindset and ambitions. He was successful at molde. Most fail at man utd. my argument for Charlie Nicholas had nothing to do about money. He was the hottest player in British football, had a shit time at arsenal, and we asked. I’m sure at the time we could have argued he’d never come to us. you seem narrow minded and unambitious, but you see it as realistic. I don’t see why you want to limit our options or outlook. Asking Gerard, lampard, Guardiola, or klopp, that’s stupid. Fuck knows what ole is doing and thinking these days. I don’t want ole, but in hiring a new manager we ask anyone and everyone if we think it’s a good idea. Aim high. Bring some passion life and excitement to the club. Glad we asked the Norwegian guy if reports are accurate, he was intriguing. goodwin has done absolutely nothing in football. And has very limited managerial experience, never mind with a club with our finances and expectation. Perhaps he has a shit year next year and gets st mirren relegated. Or us? I want someone with experience, has won something, and has good far reaching contacts. Has goodwin even coached outside of Scotland, nope. He’s been in Scotland for the best part of 12 years, is that ambition? He’s a modern day callum Davidson or tommy Wright. Even mark McGhee. In fact, those guys are more qualified and have been more successful. Don’t want any of them I will add.
  5. I’m also curious to know who you think is appropriate for us. Given you think we need to be realistic and not aim too high, you think Goodwin, Adams, Lambert, Ross, or Lennon will be an inspiring signing. To me, while all have had varying degrees of success, they are, to me, like dating your mates ex burd who he just dumped. I’d rather hit on supermodels until one says yes. And I’ll take it a step further, and feel free to call me stupid, maybe I am. I’m walking away from a six figure job and moving to florida. I want to be happy in life and that’s not happening in LA any more. Prioritizing health, happiness, and family. Don’t have a job yet but things will work out. Not everyone is all about money, people still value opportunity and happiness. Aberdeen is a good city and our club manager is a good job, and maybe a higher profile candidate will see that.
  6. Don’t agree with you at all. Do I think we can sign Ronaldo or Messi even though they are past their prime, no. But approaching an out of work manager, why not? Or someone who may want to blood their management skills for the first time? You want us to only consider ‘realistic’ targets? What does that mean? Goodwin, Adams, maybe john Hughes? is lambert even ‘our league’ to you? Think big. Successful people dream big and shoot for the moon. If it works great, if not at least we tried.
  7. Connor Barron a young Ryan Fraser? Doesn’t look too bad.
  8. Tend to agree with jute here. Ole is not as crazy a suggestion as it sounds. I’m one who doesn’t want the old crap like Adams, lamberts, jack Ross, Goodwin, haven’t heard tommy Wright yet…… we want excitement and intrigue, surely ole brings that. ole’s been successful with smaller clubs, has world wide contacts, and would make it interesting. Plus if we go down the loan route as we sadly have to do, the ties w man utd and molde for example may help. Every appointment is a gamble, why not this gamble?
  9. Ramsay’s raw and young, give him time. He has the pace which certainly helps and playing alongside experience can only help. If he gets better we sell him on for more, if he’s not developing at a higher rate he stays and is prob good enough for us. would like to see Barron play more, is he a wide player? If so he’s first off the bench in a wide role ahead of Montgomery, mclennan, and kennedy. Plus surely Ruth is Ramirez’ back up, give him a run too. who else should we see???
  10. Interesting point, Ramsay and McKenzie got their chances and took them. Would like to see others given a chance. In my opinion, no real point in loan players now, let’s assess what we have. I think at this stage we have to play players in their best and natural position. play Ramsay and McKenzie at full back, assuming it’s a back 4 if mccrorie is out. Ferguson and brown in center mid, hayes and Vicente wide, Ramirez at 9. now let’s see if Robson can get jet to perform at 10. There is flair and creativity there that our team sadly lacks. Give him a chance, nothing to lose. lastly, anyone in goal. Maybe draw straws? 3-1 us, Ramirez Ferguson and jet.
  11. I’d never heard of him, just read up. Given he’s won the league and champions league football, you see him attracted to us? But you are correct, that’s the type I want. And not just a manager whose done the rounds like Lennon. Throw in his chosen assistants plus some Scottish back room staff too, not unlike what Celtic have done. Every hire is a risk, at least it’s an interesting one!
  12. What exactly has Goodwin done? What makes him so appealing?? Has he won anything? 6th in the league but 4 off 10th, not much different to us. I get it’s a smaller budget but I don’t see them playing dazzling football and standing out. there’s a difference between managing st mirren where the objectives are to stay in the league and cup runs, and managing us. I want a manager with a record of success. Every successful and experienced manager has failed somewhere but I want someone who has won somewhere on a limited budget, and has shown he can manage a team to play decent appealing football.
  13. Timing is good, and I don’t want a temp until the summer. We’re not a man utd who can spend millions in the summer. New guy can come in with the incentive of competing for European football, plus has time to assess the squad for a summer market.
  14. We had a winter break to get some training in and work on things, plus a transfer window to improve the squad. 7 games since and one win versus Edinburgh City. Losses include to Motherwell, livi, and st mirren. results don’t lie.
  15. I will also add Mcinnes had to go but he knew our league and what it took to win. He had experience. It had gone stale, going backwards, and his time was up. Glass is learning on the job and, to me, Aberdeen is above that. Not a first time managers job.
  16. Woods has looked poor. Should have lost a goal in the first half similar to the Celtic goal when he’s not brave enough to come out to collect a ball. Let’s it drop and the opponent gets ahead of him. Well player put it over the bar when a lighter touch scores. we are really poor. While I have said give glass a chance, I just don’t see quality coaching and decision making, plus he hasn’t fixed the central creativity problem mcinnes couldn’t fix. Vicente and Montgomery have come in but that has been a few games now and neither have a goal or assist, the main reason they were brought in. Multiple changes at half time once in a while but when you do that regularly it suggests you are getting things wrong and it’s panic changes. I saw little of the game but we play so predictably. Side ways backwards and wide, all too slow and the opponent gets set defensively. No speed or creativity in the middle of the park kills us. And while conditions have been shit of late, we go long a lot more which for the most part is hit and hope. worrying….
  17. And we’re also 4 points off 4th and a European spot, game in hand over 5th and 6th, plus still in the Scottish cup. It’s far from good but just saying. Transitional season and I truly feel a player or two from being a decent team.
  18. Has he called himself that?
  19. I don’t recall us asking what Doc did, I don’t think targeting Russel is fair. I feel Glass is set on a style of play and system but we don’t have the players to play it (yet?) Didn’t watch the second half but terribly boring, predictable and ineffective from what I saw. to be fair to glass he gets two years, one year to implement a system and culture, and 3-4 windows to lock in the players. I do t think we get relegated this year but I think it’s fair to give him some time. As I annoyingly keep saying though, without a #10 this doesn’t get better. With an effective 10 I think we have enough good players to do well.
  20. Awful. Did we have a shot on goal? Has their keeper even touched the ball??? For all that possession it’s pointless ffs.
  21. Same shit different day. Side to side and down the line, then backwards. We have no attacking central threat so the livi defense always have time to get organized and get back. Ferguson ojo drop to get the ball, virtually nothing from jenks. Add an attacking flair player alongside and slightly deeper than Ramirez and it’s a totally different game. We have nobody dangerous with the ball at their feet in an advanced central position. this possession game is only effective if we have players to be effective in the system. Without a #10 it’s pointless and ineffective. Possession without penetration creates nothing. As we see.
  22. That’s playing for bottom of the league Dundee which is a factor. Playing for a better team who create more chances I’d expect more goals. But, ultimately, are we a much better team? Do we create more chances?? That’s an obvious concern but given we have no back up to Ramirez and it’s a mediocre season at best think it’s worth a punt, especially when our window did not make us a better team.
  23. Not exactly what happened…..
  24. He’d be our player by now if he really wanted to come. Although it is record so ultimately it’s not dead.
  25. We have plenty of players to offer them, plus, given he’ll be out of contract, we have the cash. We can make a deal if we really want him, but it’s more if we really want him and he ultimately wants to come to us.
