About to be released apparently!

If you want stats then be fair. I need every season he has played and how many penalties he gives away compared to teammates. I stick by what I said but if you insist on fact you have to assess his entire career and compare his stats to the rest of our team. Or you can just respect differing opinions.
-
Youāre one of these guys who has to win an argument and demands facts. Andy is 35, coming back from a big injury, slow, and declining with age. And limited ability. Donāt see how anyone can argue with that. what facts do you have that back up your argument? Why would Andy be better than bates or Gallagher? You have nothing, you are just guessing. Itās just opinion and we disagree.
-
You mean miller behind McLeish? Teams havenāt played that way in years. Itās a flat 3 or 4 for the most part, you very rarely see a sweeper now.
-
I think we have to also consider that bates and Gallagher didnāt become bad defenders over night. Both, like Andy, have played for Scotland, and have more caps than Andy. On paper they are better players. both are playing for a shit team right now that is completely shot for confidence and skirting with a relegation battle. Who is to say how Andy performs given those circumstances. Andy played well on a good team, weāre miles away from that team now, and Andy is limited in pace, decision making, and distribution. Itās easy to say heād be better than the current level, but playing for us these days is not an easy gig. anyway, shut out and a win today! Congrats!!
-
Iām not debating, it gets exhausting with people here who are blind to the obvious. Look up past results if you are so determined, big Andy was good at regularly gifting penalties. You can mourn the loss of Andy if you like but heās no solution to our defensive issues. We need to look forward and find better players, and Iād even invest time and effort with bates and Gallagher since theyāll most likely be here next year. Theyāve been pretty poor to date but if weāre stuck with them letās try to improve them.
-
Agree that bates and Gallagher donāt look good but Andy was in decline before the injury. He could no longer play left back cos he was so slow, and that was before an injury. Heās old. He was an all or nothing defender before the injury who overcommitted and dove in to tackles because he wasnāt quick enough to recover or catch players. We donāt give away as many penalties with Andy out of the team, guessing there but big Andy gave away a fair few. anyway, agree with you, weāre stuck with bates and Gallagher but hopefully we sign a legit left sided central defender over the summer.
-
Agree with pretty much everything here but the last part. Totally agree about Gallagher and bates, but a 35 year old defender returning from injury is not the answer. As critical as I am of goodwin, he sees Andy in training daily and assesses his options. Considine hasnāt played a game in months and is returning from a significant injury, and is leaving the club. And was slowing and declining pre injury. What makes you so sure heāll be an improvement?

Barron heavily involved, and eager to play and move the ball forward. Very lively and aggressive too. If we had two center mids like this each week weād do well. Ferguson is too deep and too keen to go sideways. Best Iāve seen Barron play so far.
-
Today backs up my point re Ferguson. This is the type of game I really expect to see our POTY heavily involved in proceedings. 30 mins in and besides his first touch of the game shooting at kick off, where is he????
-
Iāll add that we wonāt finish with 11ā¦
-
Perfect example of our season. Plenty of the ball, minimal creativity and few real chances, things donāt go our way, and one down. How many times this season could I have posted thisā¦

Who is giving up on goodwin?
-
Awful game. Zero creativity. Pretty much glad the season is coming to an end, and no point in talking about the game as it simply was more of the same shite. No wonder Ramirez wants to leave, I think heās a decent player, but such shit service for much of the year. he lost interest in recent weeks much like many of us did. we were at our best over the last decade when we had the two best wingers outside of the old firm in mcginn and hayes, and the best center mids outside of them in jack and McLean. Plus an inspirational leader in shinnie. Throw in talented flair in Christie and to a lesser extent Maddison, plus a goal scorer in Rooney. very strong right back in Logan, dominating central defender in McKenna. And we had the best keeper in the league in Lewis. Not sure we even have 3 players that would clearly start for hearts hibs Dundee utd etc. very interesting summer ahead. lastly, havenāt seen a single thing that suggests goodwin is an upgrade on glass. Same players and same shit. Certainly hope he gets the summer right.
-
Totally disagree, itās a free kick curling towards goal and Ferguson is running straight back to his own goal. Itās a good free kick that challenges defenders and while Ferguson was shit here, Lewis must come out and attack it. With his frame and ability thatās a punched clearance all day long, but he needs to be brave. Which heās not any more.
-
Totally feel we need to punt Lewis this summer, a new keeper is a must. With a 6ā6āā keeper surely he should be more commanding. First goal was a header from about 3 yards off the far post and heād enough time to attack it, second is exactly the same, he has the time to attack the ball and itās a header from 6 yards. Heās a total pussy and isnāt commanding at all. In steady decline in my eyes, been poor all season.

What am I missing here? Why are we naming a squad to face Poland and wales/Austria when we arenāt playing Ukraine until June?? Wasnāt that when the game was moved to?? I get the friendly but why are we calling it a squad for the wales/Austria game?
-
Well, yesterday was the first day I could go to work without wearing a mask in forever. Still have to put it on when I go inside but LA county finally changed guidelines. what limitations/guidelines still apply in Scotland??

Nobody is asking for or expects us to do anything financially irresponsible. I donāt see us as that club anyway, and donāt think we have been for close to 20 years. What Dundee did in the past means fuck all to me, plus they went to shit financially anyway. I donāt expect or want that. What I am asking is that we explore every opportunity. And as I repeatedly say, if you donāt ask you donāt get. Whatās the worst that can happen, we get told to fuck off. And as I keep saying, regardless of money, why does Charlie Nicholas come to us? London and a top club like arsenal to Aberdeen?? I didnāt expect that. We were not Fergusonās dons by then. never heard of the Celtic manager until they signed him. And look at the players they are bringing in. they could have easily gone for a predictable premiership reject but failing with Eddie Howe, they went out and were creative. Seems to be working for them. So far. While we are on a different financial level to Celtic, letās be equally ambitious and creative within our constraints. Hiring glass was ambitious and risky, but it was clear to most if not all of us that he didnāt have the experience. It showed. Learn from that. Goodwin may be up and coming but he isnāt experienced either. He hasnāt achieved a single thing at st mirren other than preventing them from being shite. No cup, cup finals, or Europe. The expectation and pressure in that job is totally different to us. I just donāt see that much appeal to him. He may be great in the future, he may even end up shite this year and st mirren finish nearer the bottom than top of the league. ross in not unlike mcinnes. He has proven heās capable. Lennon is capable too. Goodwin just doesnāt have it for me. Yet. At the same time, I hope we are creative and look outside of the token fishbowl where we can all guess the candidates. I hate being linked to the same dour bunch. Again. Sorry to keep saying, shoot for the moon, but be responsible financially. Can we afford OGS? Probably not. Duncan Ferguson? Unlikely. But why not ask? Leicester won the league. Never saw that coming. Villa just signed coutinho. Erickson to Brentford. Money talks but itās still surprise signings. Why not someone special to Aberdeen? I do feel we are an appealing job and think thereās a good one out there for us. If we look and if we ask.
-
God forbid they aim high. Can I suggest they donāt deserve better than Yogi Hughes? You should have a word there and set them straight.
-
Reading reports, no clue how accurate, that we are discussing compensation with st mirren. Blown away by this if goodwin is our guy. most want a manager with experience and say thatās where glass failed. Is a stint at alloa and a couple of years at st mirren good enough experience? Does that truly transfer to managing us? Hasnāt won anything, hasnāt managed outside of Scotland, no European experience. Has he even experienced a cup final, too lazy to check? Iād even value the battle hardened experience of being sacked before. Surely we should be looking at all of the above, plus a manager with national and international connections. While Iām not saying Lennon or Ross are the answer, they are more qualified than goodwin. I see goodwin as slightly more experienced than glass and coaching st mirren to not be shite doesnāt win me over. as I mentioned before, goodwin is the flavor of the month, not unlike tommy Wright or callum Davidson. I think we should be aiming for better.

You keep running to itās stupid and itās ridiculous. Itās not. If you donāt ask you donāt get. You run to the money argument but youāre not in football, donāt know the personnel, and make assumptions. Your assumptions may be correct but you, ultimately, have no idea. Iāve never met ole personally and donāt know his bank balance, pretty sure he could manage us for free if he wanted. That is a silly argument, but you donāt know people and their mindset and ambitions. He was successful at molde. Most fail at man utd. my argument for Charlie Nicholas had nothing to do about money. He was the hottest player in British football, had a shit time at arsenal, and we asked. Iām sure at the time we could have argued heād never come to us. you seem narrow minded and unambitious, but you see it as realistic. I donāt see why you want to limit our options or outlook. Asking Gerard, lampard, Guardiola, or klopp, thatās stupid. Fuck knows what ole is doing and thinking these days. I donāt want ole, but in hiring a new manager we ask anyone and everyone if we think itās a good idea. Aim high. Bring some passion life and excitement to the club. Glad we asked the Norwegian guy if reports are accurate, he was intriguing. goodwin has done absolutely nothing in football. And has very limited managerial experience, never mind with a club with our finances and expectation. Perhaps he has a shit year next year and gets st mirren relegated. Or us? I want someone with experience, has won something, and has good far reaching contacts. Has goodwin even coached outside of Scotland, nope. Heās been in Scotland for the best part of 12 years, is that ambition? Heās a modern day callum Davidson or tommy Wright. Even mark McGhee. In fact, those guys are more qualified and have been more successful. Donāt want any of them I will add.
-
Iām also curious to know who you think is appropriate for us. Given you think we need to be realistic and not aim too high, you think Goodwin, Adams, Lambert, Ross, or Lennon will be an inspiring signing. To me, while all have had varying degrees of success, they are, to me, like dating your mates ex burd who he just dumped. Iād rather hit on supermodels until one says yes. And Iāll take it a step further, and feel free to call me stupid, maybe I am. Iām walking away from a six figure job and moving to florida. I want to be happy in life and thatās not happening in LA any more. Prioritizing health, happiness, and family. Donāt have a job yet but things will work out. Not everyone is all about money, people still value opportunity and happiness. Aberdeen is a good city and our club manager is a good job, and maybe a higher profile candidate will see that.
-
Donāt agree with you at all. Do I think we can sign Ronaldo or Messi even though they are past their prime, no. But approaching an out of work manager, why not? Or someone who may want to blood their management skills for the first time? You want us to only consider ārealisticā targets? What does that mean? Goodwin, Adams, maybe john Hughes? is lambert even āour leagueā to you? Think big. Successful people dream big and shoot for the moon. If it works great, if not at least we tried.

Connor Barron a young Ryan Fraser? Doesnāt look too bad.
