  1. Lazetic is an odd one, how do you impress as a forward without scoring or assisting? What scout recommended this guy?
  2. Surviving! I wanted Campbell before we signed palaversa, so between sivert shinnie palaversa and polvara, I don’t think Campbell raises our level. I actually think we need a creative 10 to fill the space between the holding mids and forward, and I think gueye could be that guy. If we do insist on signing a central midfielder I’d be good with the Dundee lad. With Mikey Johnson up top.
  3. Replying to this window being about needs not being addressed. We don’t know that, we may have targets we cannot get until summer for example, and rather spend on less or a loan, we wait. We also may have signed Jensen as a player who plays multiple positions, including competition for devlin, even center mid, but he’s started left back for a reason. Perhaps dorrington is good enough for now? I think it’s also a little harsh judging a 19 yr old so quickly, plus I think he rolled his ankle on Saturday but played on which may have affected things. think we sometimes blow the left footer argument out of proportion at times. Think mcleish and miller were both right footed, rougvie was right I think. Cooper Simpson bell, later on bett all right. Different times and different game then I know. If you are good enough it doesn’t matter though, is blaming right or left foot a cop out for a bigger issue ie not good enough? Or do we expect instant perfection in a team in both transition and turmoil. not addressing immediate needs immediately suggests bigger picture and signing when available. Also suggest long term for JT who may wait for targets until the summer?
  4. Apologies in advance, worst thing I’ve said in a very long time. I want the Huns to win today. Makes me sick saying that. we really want rangers and Celtic to win consistently now, and it’s back to the almost seasonal battle for third. As bad as our form is, and I do expect it to change, Huns win and we are two points off 3rd and 4 ahead of fifth. Given the shit of last year, that’s ok. I do expect Dundee utd to lose form, their decent run will end. We step up and bob’s your uncle. Yeah, I’m an optimist. But as bad as our run is, it’s been a ton of personnel change coinciding with injuries and form, I expect this to settle and us improve again.
  5. Figured I’d throw this in here but for now, so what has gone wrong?? Conceding a horrendous number of goals and we can’t score. But why?? defenders - making horrendous mistakes, costing goals. We weren’t punished on on our winning run, teams missed chances, now we are being punished. Don’t know how ruby continues in the team (for now at least), probably tobers and dorrington in central defense in the near future. Tobers has been positive, not sure on dorrington. Would honestly like to see devlin given a week or two rest, play Jensen right and Mackenzie left for a game or two until he gets his freshness back. Haven’t seen many attacking devlin runs and goals of early season, fatigue?? midfield. Think we stick with topi and okkels wide. Okkels looked much better yesterday, topi is much more confident/aggressive than morris. As much as it’s not working for topi at present, I don’t fault his effort. Central think it has to be shinnie and palaversa. Sivert is just not the early season player he was, he’s not dominating games, makes too many mistakes, and isn’t mobile enough to recover. I thought palaversa was decent yesterday. 10 has to be gueye, he was lively and had chances yesterday. He has good movement, decent skill strength and pace, is creative, needs minutes and sharpness. 9 is the killer, we need to sign one asap as none are good enough. This is huge for our season. The rest of the squad have to bring a positive impact when brought on. Didn’t see that yesterday. Consistency - been too much chopping and changing, I’d say mainly due to injury over form. But on our run we didn’t change much, have to get back to consistency. Good to get one game a week where we can train, work on tactics, and familiarity. tactics - got to be able to keep the ball, that’s huge. But we can’t do that at present. But every week it’s different players, harder to develop chemistry and understanding, especially when new players who haven’t yet trained much. got to have a solid cohesive unit at the back, we had a back up keeper and three new defenders yesterday who have played little together, that’s hard to expect immediate understanding. Work on tobers and dorrington in the middle and devlin Jensen and Mackenzie outside, you can train that 5 be a solid group, but it doesn’t happen immediately. Tougher when your better keeper is injured. We have to be creative in the final third. We’ve had so much rotation and change of personnel in the last two months, makes that hard for consistency, even understanding. Coincides with midweek games where we don’t train nearly as much. Big part of this is having a 9 as a focal point, and we’ve seen duk gueye Ambrose nisbet and sokler there. McGrath clarkson duk nisbet gueye at 10. Impossible to be strong/consistent up top when it’s different personnel almost weekly. summary for me, and this is where I will defend JT. Need a consistent 11 to perform consistently, and impact subs. He’s looking for answers while players are injured or have lost form, plus it’s not his full squad. Still dealing with underperforming inconsistent players we should have punted in seasons past. Let him build a squad and tactics with his players, that takes time. We didn’t allow glass Goodwin or Robson time, I still believe JT is a long term project and he’ll be given time. Just looking forward to a win and a stable team. Repeating myself, but once the window closes I think we’ll see a consistent 11, and I believe performances will improve. Too much change over the last 2 months has hurt us.
  6. Harsh on tobers, baptism of fire coming to a team who are shit at the back. And start with a back up keeper who is back up for a reason. And down two today when your partner in the middle is awful. Back up keeper and three new signings at the back, with shinnie palaversa and sivert not consistent ahead of him. So much chopping and changing, who is left or right central defense too. Much like the earlier post, give tobers time, and especially it’s easier for him with a stable group around him which isn’t the current situation. So many changes, hard to be comfortable, but I’ve been impressed with him so far. as for the third goal. I could be wrong and haven’t watched since I saw it live, I think it was a quick counter when we were pushing up to get a goal back. Always vulnerable to the counter and an excellent finish. He doesn’t score those every time. think Jensen looks decent but he cut inside every time. Think he’d be a good right back, devlin any good on the left? At the same time, first time I think he’s played with okkels, they have to develop a relationship and Jensen cutting inside with okkels outside is good tactics from what I see for them both, unlike McGrath cutting in with Mackenzie outside. Just different players with different abilities. we aren’t getting any breaks. Unlike early season when we got the breaks and the goals, teams are scoring very good goals against us that they don’t score every week. Our luck will change.
  7. Totally agree on the shinnie or nilsen, was never a fan of two 33 yr olds in there. Not sure what has happened to Nilsen, but he’s not the player of 3-4 months ago. He was always a little lose in possession, but he makes too many mistakes and is not dictating in midfield. And not overly mobile to recover. Maybe he’s gassed from not having a summer but I wonder if that’s an excuse. That is a jimmy signing I am now questioning, and it makes me wonder about jimmy’s knowledge of Scottish football and the pace of the game when he offered him a 3 yr deal. I think palaversa and shinnie are our best two in there given the current squad. still feel gueye is our 10 with this group, if only we had a 9 ahead of him. Signing Cameron isn’t a solution to our problems as much as I’d prefer him over gueye or clarkson. We must get a 9 asap.
  8. This is becoming jimmy’s team but jimmy didn’t sign doohan or ruby, and until he’s had players for six months or more, he’s got to learn everything about the players we sign. We have a recruitment department, that it’s not just jimmy signing his targets. give this team a season. Add players before the window closes and build. We’re signing players mid season now with no preseason or friendlies to experiment, train, get match fit etc, and learning and gelling a team on the fly. Not willing to be critical. Yet.
  9. What’s shit fucking day.
  10. Other than morris for keskinen, wouldn’t change much. Need much more from the right, Morris and devlin need to produce. Jensen gets forward but not as much as Mackenzie, but okkels ahead of him is a winger. Would Mackenzie and okkels work? Leave as is, we’re decent down the left. Gueye is involved, just think he lacks match sharpness.
  11. Or is he jet? Or the boy at at Johnstone we were linked with? Haven’t seen enough to know if he’s a decent player consistently.
  12. Maybe. But we’re not bad going forward, I see us scoring at least one.
  13. Ffs. Two down and ruby heavily involved in both. not playing that badly but killing ourselves.
  14. Do not like how our 9 drops to defend, like having a 9 that stays up for an outlet ball, plus it keeps defenders back. I don’t think gueye is a 9 but our team does this now. Wish our center forward stayed up. okkels looks lively so far.
  15. Arguably starting our best 11 today, although I think gueye is a 10 not a 9. Hope to be proven wrong! 3-1, gueye clarkson topi
  16. Very true and totally agree. But how much money does Ferguson now earn and in the future versus Scott wright, and most likely Connor Barron. It’s a long term gain.
  17. Lyall Cameron is a really interesting one. If he’s a rangers fan he goes there, but if not, I think it’s an interesting choice for him. He’s Scottish which has the appeal for me, although we don’t really need another 10. I’m eager to see gueye there, plus clarkson and polvara are there. I’m assuming McGrath leaves. But is Cameron an upgrade on every player we already have? And does he produce more week to week than our guys?? Look at Barron, in and out the rangers team, Scott wright a good example too. Not guaranteed decent playing time. Yes champions league football, but will he be watching or playing. Do the Huns grow players to move on to bigger and better things? No. compare him to Louis Ferguson, we were perfect for him. That’s exactly what any player wants, now considered a top player in Italy and will walk into the Scotland team now I assume with mcgregor gone. Obviously McKenna mccrorie Ramsey miovski ramadani all show we can get the players the playing time and exposure to move on to bigger and better things. Interesting choice for the lad.
  18. Since French forwards are being mentioned, was our last Frenchie 9 Alex de Rocco? Remember him being a big loon and quite good, whatever happened to him? Pretty sure he was a January loan but were we not able to extend/buy??
  19. Seriously! I can only assume it’s a decent center forward and those discussions take time. But a legit 9 changes our season and also how teams play us.
  20. Miovski to return on loan until the summer to find fitness and form. Ferguson being resigned, home sick in Italy. shock return to the club for Alex miller to fill the recent vacated slot on the management team. Messi signing an 18 month deal, quoted as saying he always wanted to finish his career in Scotland. Credits his good friend jack gurr as helping with negotiations.
  21. Gueye isn’t a center forward, he’s a roaming 10. You saw today he was central, wide left, and a couple of times out right. He’d do more damage than good at 9, wouldn’t play his position centrally and, in my opinion, would get in others way out wide and deep. Doesn’t have the discipline for 9, he’s is that free roaming creative type.
  22. I think he’s a deep lying center mid, very much like sivert. Play them both, do they get in each others way and prevent each other from playing their natural game? Would like to see palaversa and shinnie with gueye ahead of them at 10.
  23. Think we’d all agree with that, but we need to get them out than just bloat a squad.
  24. No rumors of a center forward yet? Ambrose today could easily have scored a hat trick, had very good chances miovski for example eats up.
  25. 3-0. Job done. Again, relative to the opponent, but positives to me were morris showed confidence and gueye looked lively on return. Gueye will get sharper but him at 10 definitely helps us. Jensen looked decent too. Still need a 9!
