  1. Think Barron is ploughing a similar farrow!
  2. You'll be hoping there aren't too many VAR hold-ups then otherwise it'll be a sprint. In walk to Pittodrie beers in town 3-2
  3. And he doesn't think he's Beckenbauer. Twice in the 2nd half Stewart ambled across to cut out a long pass and instead of passing it back to the keeper, fannied around with it, run it out the first time and lost it to the forward the second.
  4. IN (first game since coming home to bide Mainer Pre - probably the Pittodrie Bar Post - beers in town 2-2
  5. Isn't that basically how it works in cricket? The batsman/bowler's captain appeals...it goes to the Hawkeye and it's either "yes your decision is correct or no it's not correct or if it's iffy then it the officials original call" - so that even if it looked like the ball was going onto clip the wicket it wasn't a clear and obvious error. And it takes about a minute.
  6. With McRorie heading the winner!
  7. Thought so to on first viewing (and probably a red card) but on replay the keeper did seem to get the ball. Can't believe the Hearts player (Grant?) wasn't sent off for going straight through Barron. Duk's run for the second goal was great...he ambled inside the defender who, even though Duk was struggling with cramp, couldn't keep up with him, Miovski drew 3 defenders leaving Vinny wide open. Second half performance was much better, thought Scales and McKenzie were excellent.
  8. "He came from Morton to play for Aberdeen, he's the finest inside forward the world has ever seen". (Wish I could remember what I did yesterday though).
  9. Well Stewart must make you hyperventilate, touch is crap, distribution is crap.
  10. Your comment re Stewart/Beckenbauer is spot on...when he lost the ball because of a heavy touch when it was still 0-0 was more Ifil-esque. It's just like the incident when we were 2-1 against Annan and he tried to be too clever, got caught out and fortunately they fucked up a great opportunity. He won't get away with it against Jota for instance. Really enjoyed watching yesterday (no trains so no Ally Pally fitba for me) and the Killie commentator was hilarious! - the incident when Killie's skipper completely wiped-out (Kennedy I think) near the touchline and, as he was watching the replay, "Nothing much in that".
  11. Could be another Tommie Hoban who also looked beyond us but was plagued by injuries. Hope it doesn't happen to Coulson.
  12. Agree with that a typical "British" game and we played into their hands. Second half was much better though once we equalised we were far too gung-ho and that break-away so nearly cost us...reckon if the passer and receiver (don't remember either of their names) were the other way round they would have scored. Hope Clarke plays basically the same formation on Wednesday and doesn't do a Smithy '91!
  13. Thanks...I think!
  14. Any links - was hoping it would be in ITV4 or something - doesn't seem to be on hesgoals. Obviously my neighbours are hoping that wild screaming Scotsman doesn't disturb our enjoyment of strictly dancing on ice or whatever people watch on a normal Saturday night.
  15. According to the Guardian online the new club's game against Napoli on Tuesday has been moved to Wednesday because of limitations on police resources. So what is happening on Tuesday that is such a drain on resources but doesn't apply on Wednesday? I would only hazard a guess that on Tuesday the old biddy's body is lying in state at ipox because they are ultra-loyal (except for paying their taxes, obviously) and they have to keep out the kaffliks.
  16. Any links?
  17. Ok, the only thing I can remember Hayes doing was complaining to the ref and scoring a goal. Apart from that what did the Romans etc.
  18. Thought Vinny was shite today...he's obviously got an excellent first touch but once he's got time to think about what to do he looks lost. Same with Ramadani, broke forward a couple of times and then thought "what do I do now" - eg the last couple of minutes, got as far their penalty box, did a couple of step overs and then got smothered out. The only thing I can remember Hayes doing was complaining to the ref. Kennedy was back to his performances for the last couple of years (guess it's easier to look good against Peterhead and Stirling Albion), gets the ball, look to take on the full back, doesn't fancy his chances, turns back and play a safe pass (except when he twice passed it straight out for a shy (auld guy's term). Thought we were lucky to only lose by 1 goal. Positives (scraping the barrel), Scales, McKenzie when he came on, Miovski's goal (like last week a real poacher's goal).
  19. We've got a bit chance if we win the ball quickly just inside our own half and we lob Hart - he's really trying hard to prove to Pep that he could be a ball-playing keeper!
  20. Celtic vs Aberdeen - HesGoal.Com Sports News If you dare watch it!
  21. Always enjoyed these championships since watching Lachie Stewart hanging onto the coattails of Ron Clarke (holder of multiple world records but never won a major championship gold) and some English runner running side-by-side as he followed in their slipstream, in 1970 and as they came to the last 200m glanced towards Clarke as if to say "Sorry, mate, but this is mine" Lachie Stewart - Commonwealth Games 10,000m Gold, Edinburgh 1970 - YouTube Reason for posting this was that I was on the BBC site and there was a link to an "amazing 10 goal thriller" in the hockey between Scotland and NZ. I've no idea of who would be the underdogs in this game but we were up 4-0 and 5-1 and drew 5-5...Alan Rough was in goal for us!
  22. Actually pleased with that...daughter is about to start as a junior Dr. in Dumfries and a midweek visit from down south with B&B + train is far cheaper than a weekend one!
  23. That's terrible news...saw him make his debut v. Dundee at Dens in the cup in '67 (I'm that old!). A real legend for the dons. RIP, brush
  24. And wrap up the title against Sevco with 5 games to go!
  25. Part of the email from AFC - 2008s Aberdeen youngsters from the 2008 and 2009 age groups travelled to Tønsberg, Norway to play in the prestigious Flint Micasa Cup. The tournament was made up of 64 U14 teams from across Europe and it was the young Dons, led by coaches Derek Young and Greg Moir along with Kevin Stewart, Rob Crimin and Richard Taylor, who came home with the trophy! On day one, as one of the seeded teams, they came through their qualification undefeated, scoring 12 goals without reply. On Sunday, they progressed to finals day after six wins and a draw. The business end of the competition took place on Monday, with Aberdeen meeting Liverpool at the semi-final stage. Cayden McGuinness scored the only goal of the game as the English Premiership side were defeated in a thrilling match. In the final, Aberdeen played Red Bull Leipzig and produced another outstanding performance. With five minutes to play, Jack Searle scored for the young Dons, but the German giants equalised in the final minute. The match went to spot kicks and it was Joseph Teasdale who had the honour of finding the net to give Aberdeen a 5-4 win on penalties. 2010s Elsewhere, the Aberdeen 2010s were in Germany for the Pfingst Cup, one of the largest youth tournaments in Europe. Academy Director Gavin Levey saw the side coached by Calum McDonald, Mark Slater and Kris Mavor play a total of ten matches and registered seven wins and two draws – their only defeat came against eventual winners Eintracht Frankfurt. After going down 2-0 to the Germans, the boys regrouped and beat Mainz 05 to finish in a very impressive fifth place. 2011s The 2011 age group travelled to the Netherlands to take part in the Jorrit Hendrix Tournament where they finished third. The coaching party was made up of Liam McGarry, Stephen Brodie, Matthew Mackie and Aberdeen first team player Jonny Hayes. With top European clubs from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany involved, it was some achievement for our U11s make it to the semi-final stage, where they lost narrowly to Borussia Monchengladbach, 1-0, before beating AZ Alkmaar 2-1 in the 3rd/4th place play-off. Borussia won the competition by beating Ajax 5-0 in the final. Aberdeen had made it through from a group that had included FC Koln, Ajax and PSV.
