  1. It's amazing how tolerant you can feel coming off of a nightshift and gettting 4 hours kip
  2. Stoney, you are deluded if you think this is better fair than anything we've seen over the past 5 years. At least after last years bad start there was an expectation that we would come good. I don't have that expectation this season and feel that our results fail to paper over the glaring deficiencies in our performances except for the extremely foolish or deluded such as yourself.
  3. How are things 'coming into shape rather nicely'? We dont look as though we could score in a barrel of fannies, our midfield is largely anonymous, our strikers ineffectual and all of this against some of the shittest teams in the league. Perhaps you could enlighten us as to what looks so good from your perspective other than the clean sheets??
  4. This result wont diguise the fact that we don't look like scoring from open play. We cant keep relying on Charlie to bang a free kick in to get us a goal but a wins a win so I'll take it and try to remain upbeat
  5. We don't attempt that shooting thing anymore it seems.
  6. McGhee irked by Sone Nigeria injury Aberdeen manager IS upset player has LIMPED back from International DUTY By Michael Gannon Published: 12/09/2009 LIMPING: Sone Aluko has been injured on Nigeria duty More Pictures Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee is threatening to pull Sone Aluko out of the Nigerian under-20 World Cup squad. The attacker is due to meet up with the Super Eagles squad on Tuesday ahead of the tournament which kicks-off in Egypt on September 24. But the Dons manager is livid after the forward limped back into Pittodrie following Nigeria’s training camp in Spain last week. Fifa cannot order clubs to release players and McGhee is prepared to play hard ball. He said: “Sone is not away yet – whether he goes or not remains to be seen. “He has come back with Achilles injuries because he has been training on astroturf all week, which I cannot understand – they do have grass in Spain. “On top of that he has also been put through a mini-preseason, which he did not need. “I am not happy about it at all. “He is getting treatment and we are trying to get him fit for Monday night’s match at Falkirk. “Beyond that I will make a decision whether I let him go back or not – it is not compulsory . “We were letting him go because Sone insisted he wanted to play in this tournament but I might just take a harder line because of the way I feel he has been used. “It will not be a difficult decision for me because I gave them upmost respect and I told Sone it was up to him. He wanted to go and play so I respected his wishes because he is looking to his international future and I was not prepared to be the one who jeopardised that. “So we decided to let him go for these games, but now he is back in this condition I am not particularly sure I will let him go back. “I will see how he is on Monday night but if he shows any signs of a reaction – or if he cannot play the whole game for us – then he will not be going.â€
  7. I read it as meaning that we could have a team made up mainly of home grown talent much as we had in the 80's but saw no reference to replicating the 80's teams achievements.
  8. I'm always suspicious off anyone who displays those traits.
  9. I might agree but I dont have a clue what your on about. Whit is a "game-brreaker" player
  10. I agree Padre but we have been promised, by the ususal suspects, a super duper man manger who can achieve anything in Mark McGhee so surely it shouldn't be too hard for a living god such as he to turn around this guys performances.
  11. Who if you cast your mind back to the turn of the year last year was our best player by a mile. There is a lot going on with him at the moment but we cant overlook the fact that he is a quality player...on his game. It is up to McGhee to try and get him playing to the form we know he can produce.
  12. Colin Meldrum was a dandy as a boy. Doesnt matter a damn if he can't coach right enough so fingers crossed.
  13. Suggestion on the hat that Grassi is to be offered a 1 year deal
  14. Can't go Ill be in Turkey
  15. I concur, I have seen all of those other players mentioned by Reekie and none ever came close to single handedly destroying our chances. An equivalent performance from Kombuare would have to have seen him scoring 3 own goals. Wasnt his debut though, that was against Ayr
  16. He should be number 13 anyway. Unlucky for us.
  17. Webster was a good quality player but when on loan at Bristol last season he was barely fit enough to play.
  18. Im not certain that scoring goals in the English 3rd division, where most of his goals have come, is an indicator that he can do it for us. The game is littered with players who score loads of goals at lower levels but cant find the net at a higher level. The, "he knows where the net is" argument doesn't wash but heres hoping.
  19. I dont really remember us ever using Barry Nicholson, Michael Hart and Chris Clarks wages fully on new players so wouldn't be surprised if we take the opportunity to cut back on the wage bill which would make good sense in the current climate.
  20. I kind of get the impression that Smiths wage would get swallowed up by Hughes. Can we afford them both?
  21. I'm with Bobby on this. Football is all about confidence so an easy home tie with a big crowd would get us off to a flyer.
  22. Does McGhee always play 4-3-3? Seem to remember reading that he would assess the players available before settling on a formation that suited.
