  1. It's clear as day that although many in the Dons support didn't fully appreciate him, there is a large Ramadani sized hole in the Dons midfield. To replace him is to resolve a large part of the issue in that part of the team. Also, as much as Duk has been a part of any Dons success in the last 18 months, he has also been part of some mediocre or terrible team performances. If we achieve any fee over 3 millions for him, that would be a good outcome. Over to the manager and the board to make their next move.
  2. Say what you will about the horrible Huns from Glasgow but they continually outdo themselves with showing themselves up as complete C**s. Demanding special treatment from the SFA, not once, but twice because they didn't have a penalty awarded for them in a match against their rivals for the league title smacks seriously of how special they rate themselves. On Tuesday just past, they almost equalled a world record of 75 matches without having a penalty awarded against them. In the VAR era, The Rangers were the only team in ANY league in world football NOT to have a penalty awarded against them since VAR was introduced. 63 leagues now use VAR, 950 teams have played under VAR and until Tuesday only one of those 950 teams had yet to concede a penalty. Guess who? Barcelona were the previous holders of this record with 80% possession and 0.8 shots against per match. The Rangers on the other hand had 59% possession and 6 shots against per match. The last player to have taken a penalty against The Rangers in a league match was one Lewis Ferguson for Aberdeen. Anyone who takes any sort of interest in Scottish football knows the score here. Referees and officials are corrupt to a good degree, especially when it comes to the two larger Glasgow clubs. Some people I hang with deny any favouritism towards those teams but facts are facts. Recently in a so called "Neutral stadium" for a cup final, Dons fans were denied a fair 50% share of tickets. Football authorities cited policing issues. Those same "policing issues" would not have reared their head if Rantic and Celgers had contested the final. Moreover, we all know that whichever of these teams contest a final, they are always awarded a "home" end. Scotland is the only country in the world that has this bizarre system for a so called "neutral" venue. It's clear as day that the the football authorities have only two teams larger interest at heart. The more that all football fans contest this ludicrous blatant corruption of football administration in Scotland, the better. With the annual chatter of the Ugly Sisters pissing off to England, bring it on I say. It's time for Scotland and Scottish football to move on from this shit. Apologies for my frustration. I'm an old guy who doesn't contribute much but this boils my piss.
  3. As predictable as night following day by the predictable Scottish football authorities. Call someone a cheat....beause they did and as long as you are a non old firm boss, you get clobbered for it. Actually be seen to be cheating and no action is taken. They are making an example of Goodwin here. There have been far worse things said by managers in the recent past, a lot by managers of the gruesome twosome, which have been brushed under the carpet. Blatant double standards. The Dons must appeal this, even just for the optics of having done so. The question also needs to be asked, how can Goodwin be a manager of a team that he is effectively not allowed to manage on match day? There are rules to be adhered to and Goodwin didn't, but the punishment has to fit the crime. He's been given a quarter season ban ( 2 suspended) That's just not right.
  4. I couldn't get anywhere near here close to interested to showing the game. Translations of "diddy league" I managed. At that point, I didn't tell them I was a Dons fan. My Spanish son in law did say that his Scottish team Aberdeen easily beat Real in 83. This was greeted by rapturous applause among the group (mainly Barca) When the group found out I was against The Rangers, they were good. I've hopefully converted a few more Spanish tonight to looking out for our team. No doubt the Huns displayed or sang the anthem. Ironic that the guy who was sent off was named Sands?
  5. I'm reading that EUFA have banned British teams from playing the UK national anthem before matches. Other things I picked up on Nigel Feurage has decided he wants UK teams to pull out of European competition because of this ( no surprise there) And of course the Huns are going to defy this by either just playing the anthem and taking the hit, or as one source put it " the players might just sing it a capella and let the 50,000 supporters join in" I now want to watch this, just for the spectacle of a team of mainly foreign players sing the UK national anthem looking like a dysfunctional Blazing Squad boy band. Now I have to locate a bar that will show this. Forza Napoli.
  6. I can get a picture of what it's like back in the UK. Sounds utterly dystopian. Folks being arrested for holding up blank pieces of paper etc... Unfortunately I have to come back there in a couple of weeks. My daughter's will only put up with me for so long.
  7. I guess both sides will be playing in black too and wearing veils. Whoever said that a lot of Brits (English mainly) were a nation of insular small minds was at least half right. The Brits here in Spain seem to have gotten over it pretty quickly and are carrying on as normal. Spanish media picked up on it, reported it, shrugged their shoulders and went back to showing supermarket adverts.
  8. This guy said this without a single note of irony. Will he also mention this if his team manage a result against us on Saturday? I doubt that very much. Given the fawning towards the ugly sisters media that exists in Scotland, it wouldn't be in their interests to mention the glaring disparity between them and any other team in the Scottish leagues. The "we should support Scottish sides in Europe" line that is foisted on us is sickening. The financial clout of Rantic and Celgers means that only the 2 of them will stand a chance of qualifying for the lucrative stages of European competition and therefore will gain even more financially putting further financial daylight between them and the rest of us. Meanwhile a sycophantic press, expect us to stand and applaud as the new old firm get richer claiming it's our duty to support 2 Scottish teams who's supporters are obsessed with Ireland and who espouse bigotry that is perpetually brushed under the carpet by anyone seen as being authority. They are a disease on both Scottish football and Scottish society. We are over 40 years after a massive "rammy" at a Scottish Cup final at Hampden and generations later, football fans in Scotland can't be trusted to enjoy a beer at the match because of these two sets of "supporters" That's just not right considering the massive changes at football stadia, stewarding, policing, family areas and the like. All clubs including Aberdeen have problem sections within their support, but nothing compared to the 2 who dominate Scottish football. Back to Van Bronkhun. Making such a crass, blinkered statement shows he and the club he represents are part of the bigger problem. I despise the Champions League for a few reasons, but mainly because it's a league packed with teams who are not Champions. It's also an exclusive old boys club with the same faces year after year at the dining table of a European cash cow. The format is boring, the prices for match day tickets are extortionate ( Ever bought a ticket for the Bernabau or Barcelona you'll know what I mean). So yeah, fuck right off Van Bronkhun and I hope you ship another 4 on Saturday you out of touch asshole
  9. When I moved to Aberdeen back in 67, Davie Robb is the first Aberdeen player I remember. Hustle and bustle, commited and with a decent eye for goal. He was a nightmare for defenders to play against, physical without being dirty. I well remember the winning goal in the 76 League cup final. I also remember a hatrick against Motherwell at Pittodrie, and a penalty miss on the final day of the season against Hibs that the Dons needed to win to have a chance of staying up. Davie eventually got his goal, the Dons stayed up and the next season Davie scored the winner in the League Cup final. "The brush" has a special place in the hearts of Dons fans of a certain age such as myself. RIP Davie Robb.
  10. It's always difficult at this point of a season for a relatively new management team to implement so many changes while playing a tight schedule of matches Less time on the training pitch, traveling a lot, means less understanding and cohesion during matches. The break comes at the right time I feel. There are glaring deficiencies in the team when they play, namely, that the team look uncomfortable when not on the ball. Whatever we thought of McInnes tactics, his team's were hard to beat or breakdown because every player knew what to do when they didn't have the ball. On evidence seen so far, this squad need to be better organized off the ball. They also need to add some zip into the play. Allowing teams such as County to look comfortable while we slowed play down just isn't on. We could hear the impatience of the crowd yesterday when this happened. The last thing we want to happen is for the team to feel uncomfortable playing at home because of this. There are signs of promise within the side. A couple of weeks with the coaches should in theory help. I fully expect a hot and cold run of form during this season. Whether the majority of fans will accept this remains to be seen
  11. The pricing for the match is ott. It smacks of profiteering to me. I appreciate that the club need to claw some cash back where possible, but they have made a poor decision by adding a few pounds onto standard gate prices being charged by other clubs. I, along with thousands of Don's supporters have spent thousands over the years, often paying silly money to see our team play wherever that may be. Given the 18 months or so we have all endured, the club should have taken that into account before jacking up the prices that for some, looks like emotional extortion. I'm sad and disappointed that the club have priced some loyal fans put of attending. Hopefully, if we get further in the tourney, the club realise that there is a limit on how much supporters can financially tolerate before they decide to pick and choose which, and how many games they can afford to attend. COYR!
  12. It seems that the power of players agents is alive and well. Ferguson's agent is well known for using this tactic to start a bidding war. It may be bad advice from McMurdo to to Ferguson, but the horse has bolted now. We should fully expect further increased bids from other clubs as a result. With 3 years left on the boys contract, the ball and power is in the Don's court until the smell of cold hard cash is impossible to resist. He'll be gone this summer.
  13. The switching of the Don's match with the arse cheeks match is a damning indictment of Scottish football and Scottish West coast society in general. It more or less tells us that the game and world revolves around those two teams. It tells us that despite lockdown rules, neither set of supporters from the Glasgow teams can be trusted to behave themselves on the day of a well publicised funeral. Sometimes, I hate Scotland and it's bending over to accommodate the "normality" of sectarianism.
  14. I've only just found out that Ingerlund gobshite Clive Tyldsley is the commentator on Hun tv. When did that happen? Mind you, it's a match made in heaven. The 1966 repeating frother virtually sang Rule Britannia throughout Ingerlunds matches anyway so it must be a case of as you were at the Huns
  15. Dynamo Berlin were Hoeniker's team. Rumours were rife that referees, players and officials of other East German teams were bought. The best players ended up at Dynamo, because of the Stasi influence. I recently returned to Berlin for a few days and retraced my steps to the old Dynamo Berlin ground, where Aberdeen were knocked out on Penalties. The ground itself has not changed apart from the multi coloured seating that is now in place.
