  1. I agree, he's clearly never going to reach the levels he did previously. He's been unlucky in an achievement sense that he came up against some great players in Djokovic, Federer and Nadal. It's clear he would have won much more if not for them (how many finals has he lost to Djokovic alone?). But if anything that makes the slams hes won all the more impressive.
  2. That's a fair sum. Have to imagine we were matching it if we were really close. Seem to be willing to splash the cash for the right player.
  3. Think Joe suffered from the fact the game relies more and more on having ball playing keeper. He was an excellent shot stopper and I believe if it wasn't for the tactical changes that have happened over the last five years he would have been here a good bit longer. Sad for him as I think he really gave his all and was a great servant. I always remember reading that he was content here as he wanted to win silverware so it's shame he didn't manage to achieve this.
  4. Worst thing about the run of games against the Glasgow and Edinburgh teams is the potential to have a few bad results in a row and lose confidence. Obviously hope we can take something against all of them but if you don't it can be hard to get things back on track.
  5. It's good to see we have other targets and we are willing to move on. Pretty sure this has messed us up in the past holding out for players who aren't really interested in coming. With the fact we have a europa league qualifier way before the close of the window we need people who want to join now.
  6. It's funny how ive heard a few people expressing the opinion Spain aren't that great anymore. Yet they just went and won the nations league. Now granted its not as coveted a competition as most and I accept that Spain aren't the team they were 10 years ago, but are we downplaying how good a team we have become too much? I hope so...
  7. Yeah I think likely one more victory would do it. If we were to beat Cyprus you would need either Norway or Georgia to win all there remaining fixtures to have a chance to overtake us. They both have to play Spain and ourselves so I feel that's unlikely. Would be nice to keep the form going to rack up ranking points and see if we can top the group of course.
  8. It would've been nice to have proof he was pish. He sounded quite an exciting player when we signed him, but a year of not playing won't have done him any favors either.
  9. I know reading probably have deeper pockets than us but they are playing in league 1 not the championship. Got to imagine we have a good chance of bringing him in as european football up here must be a bit more appealing. Fingers crossed.
  10. I disagree with this. I think you would find for most people (season ticket holders included) it is a part time hobby. Some fans will follow the team all around the country and beyond but a lot turn up at Pittodrie every two weeks or less (myself included) and entertain themselves in other ways the rest of the time. Loyalty is a difficult metric for the club to measure outwith sales and I get your frustrations as it sounds like you go to great lengths to support the team. However everyone has their own reasons and opinions on how much time and effort they invest in supporting the club, and I don't think it's fair to make a judgement on that.
  11. Has this been confirmed?
  12. I saw a suggestion this morning that he can terminate his final years contract due to none payment of wages. If its a matter of compensating him for that hopefully we can just offer him a decent sign on fee to cover it. We were likely going to have to pay Wigan something anyway. It would be a bit of a nightmare to miss out on him so hopefully the club are exploring all options.
  13. He's obviously done very well but I would also be underwhelmed at signing him. I think if we had been in the bottom six there is a good chance Duk and Miovski would have added more to there seasons tally. I've seen it too many times where we see a player scoring goals for other teams and we sign them and they just don't replicate it for us. Being that he's 32 which is not exactly in his prime makes it a no go for me.
  14. I wondered if Dylan Levitt that they signed from man united might be worth a look. Still relatively young and had a great season on loan the previous year. I was surprised he signed for them permanently. I presume he's been poor for them this season but maybe still some potential there?
  15. Completely agree that the tackle was terrible, but I can't see your point about refereeing and VAR. The referee misjudged it in real time and VAR gave him the opportunity to have another look. I think it was applied perfectly here. Anyway hopefully it looks a lot worse than it is and there's a chance he could be back for the start of the new season.
  16. Bit of a nightmare scenario really. Cant imagine any gems hes uncovered dont end up on southamptons radar.
  17. Absolutely massive game. I actually expected there was a good chance to be in this situation when the top 6 fixtures were announced. Only thing I didnt call was that Hearts and ourselves would draw against Hibs and St.Mirren respectively, I expected victories for both. We have a great opportunity here as it will be a tough game for Hearts going to Ibrox so hopefully victory here would seal third. out Work Home Work 3-1 Dons, Duk(Double) and Miovski
  18. To be fair it would have been harsh to uphold as it was never a Red. Just a shame this will be the match Shinnie misses due to his extra game ban.
  19. Regards to Barron think this is fair enough. I think his problem is he isn't much better than the other players we have in his position, although he does have the potential to be better one day. He's indicated he doesn't want to be here, add in the fact he's not fit and on that basis there isn't really much incentive for us to get him in the team.
  20. Put my thoughts in the other thread. I'm definately happy with this. If we win our two games at home I think we will be there even if we lose the other three. Good that Celtic are going to Tynecastle in the first fixture aswell. It Means Hearts have to play them while they still have something to play for, whereas we get them in the last game when things could already be settled.
  21. I don't think this looks too bad for us. Two winnable home fixtures against Hibs and St Mirren which could well be all we need for 3rd. If we can come away from tynecastle with a draw that would clinch it for sure. Also Celtic going to tynecastle with the chance to win the title in the first fixture hopefully means they ate up for it.
  22. Good to see Hayes staying on another year. Van Veen doesn't excite me and doesn't really fit with our strategy. Miovski although off the boil at the moment with regards to goalscoring has a lot more potential. One of the best finishers I've seen at the club for a while. Hopefully he bags a few more goals soon and gets his confidence up again.
  23. I have disagree, maybe the rules allow a little petulance but Morelos kicked Mckenna with no intent to play the ball. If the rules say that's OK it's no wonder the referees can't consistently make decisions. I that just overcomplicates things. But I think the main reason I object to it so much is that if it had been Mckenna booting Morelos there's no way it would have been rescinded. I distinctly remember there was a massive backlash in the west coast media and I really felt that swayed the outcome in that case.
  24. You are right it's not frivolous, but I just couldn't see them letting us get away with questioning their authority. I think much like the Red itself the question of whether it is a frivolous appeal is subjective to whoever is making the decision. That's why I just couldn't see any outcome but what has happened. It also probably doesn't help that I don't think I've ever seen us successfully get a red card overturned. I'm always careful about calling out bias but I can't help but feel that the appeal process is so obviously biased its laughable. I just can't forget that Morelos red that got rescinded after booting Scott McKenna.
  25. Honestly I think its one of these really borderline ones where you can make a case either way. I'm not sure that VAR should have got involved got as it definately is not a clear mistake. I think had shinnie had his other foot firmly on the ground there would be no question of it being a red. He's been dismissed as he's deemed not to be in control and in those circumstances it's the potential damage that could be done they take into account. It was a silly challenge in all honestly and I'm not sure we are being wise in challenging it. I think we risk that they throw the book at him and he gets a 3-4 match ban, and we really could be using him for the run in.
