Personally, I'm pleased we've managed to sneak into the Europa League and am ambivalent over the removal of JC. I suspect once we know the identity of his replacement, we will have an idea of how ambitious the club is.

Agreed, the OG was a bit unlucky, he was simply not strong enough or fast enough for either of the other 2 goals. However, in his defence, when MacDonald makes his run for the third goal, he's actually being marked by Seve, who just lets him go, and Considine has to try and catch a guy already running full pelt.

If you (generic) had a sick record in your place of employment, somewhat akin to Mr Smith has with AFC, you'd be asked to explain yourself and more than likely be looking at being moved on. Football is a business - the club has to consider whether it can afford to carry Jamie on the basis of his occasional appearance and performance levels versus his appalling number of missed games. Jamie reckons he needs to work and look after his family - as indeed he does, however, no-one else needs to weigh his family's welfare into a business decision. On his day, he's a great player. Personally, I don't think we see anything like enough of him performing at that level, especially when you take into account how few games he actually plays. Goodbye Mr Smith.

Just back from that trip to St James' Park.................. geez, I thought watching us was depressing. For a team made up of supposed internationals, they were rank awful. There's no desire, no imagination, and fuck all in the way of flair. As for Alan Smith.... I think he's supposed to be the "minder". , he did have a couple of decent tackles, and more than a couple of his usual mindless lunges...
