  1. 100% agree. If this team has any illusions of performing, even adequately, this coming season, that should be the ideal start.
  2. The club will be squids in, if this story is true.
  3. F F S where's that grasping at straws pic again............
  4. The definition of insanity - watching the same shower of shite playing the same shitey way and expecting a different outcome.
  5. That list of 100 names that was talked about earlier, what was that exactly? Potential player prospects worthy of some degree of evaluation or a list of potential puppy names for a new dog?
  6. Like quite a few of the others, I was born in Aberdeen, my dad supported them and despite moving south when I was 6, he would stil go to the games and take me sometimes. I agree with Tom W, once you have a team, you just can't change it. Plus I was really lucky, my first real football memory was the '76 cup final, I was 16 when we won the league at Easter Rd and being an all conquering Dons fan as a teenager was a gift from the footballing gods - especially living in the central belt. Now, too many years later, and despite living thousands of miles away, I still feel the pain of our club's decline.
  7. So the plan to play flowing, silky soccer has obviously been abandoned, if we're "chasing" forwards the likes of either of these two.
  8. Don't worry, it's going to be fantastic next season.
  9. Aye well, good luck to him if they're going to double his wages (as if) One goal in the last 4 years A gazillion misplaced passes A stupid, stupid, red card Fighting in the street I think we'll manage without you.
  10. OK, I'll admit that despite my advancing years, I have no idea about betting or odds seeing as my dear ol' pa warned against the dangers of bookies. But how the hell can you get an each way bet on someone scoring. They either do or they don't, surely?
  11. Just as well, because the state of the RDS concourse is an absolute disgrace. Those cleaners should be sacked.
  12. During McGhee's interview tonight, all I could hear was this..... It's not my fault. Nice one kelt.
  13. What a complete and utter shower of shite............... Killie have only had 2 wins in their last 12, both against us. Never managed to score 2 goals away from home till they play us. Well, that's certainly been a transitional season eh, finishing at the glorious height of 9th.
  14. "water off a duck's back" Do you know if the guy had even an ounce of common sense and decency, he'd say - "yeah, I'm disappointed in my form and understand that the fans are not happy. I'd rather they didn't feel the need to boo, but if they do, I have to accept that and try to win them round by playing well and trying hard for the team." Not come out and say " aye well, I don't care, it doesn't bother me, I didn't care at my last place, I don't care at this place, and quite frankly, I'm surprised I even bothered turning up for this interview, because I just don't care."
  15. What I really have trouble understanding about these guys is that they're not even that good, yet they think they should be allowed to stroll about, play like shite and still get paid a lot of money. If truly great players like Iniesta, Xavi, Schweinsteger, Frings, etc etc, can all knock their pans in during a game, as well as grace it with skill and passion, how the fuck do we get lumbered with players too bored to play for us, too lazy to try or who think they're better than they are and yet seem willing to go a lower level english division just because they'll get a bit more money. People like Duff, Young and Mackie are not the best players in the world - not by a long shot, but at least you know you will get a full game's worth of honest endeavour out of them. In the SPL, a team of tryers won't perform at a worse level than the current pile of mince we've been watching this season. Drawing 4-4 with the Green and White shite, and a win over the blue shite, might be all very jolly and thrilling, but it's against those teams that, realistically, we should be comfortable against, that our record is absymal. 4 points from Falkirk 4 points from Hamilton 4 points from St Johnstone 4 points against Kilmarnock (with 1 more game to come) 6 points against St Mirren ( " " " " ) None of those teams have "quality" - they just seem to try harder. /rant
  16. I find it hard to believe that the club will sack McGhee - we are already in a perilous financial position, paying him his contract (whether it's what's left of a 2 year deal, or the rolling 12 months) is just going to add to that predicament. Then we are looking for another manager, a club with a reputation for having no patience and no money. Hand on heart, I have no idea what is the way forward. I really, really fear for the future of the club as a "force to be reckoned with". Like the other old gits on here, I am both blessed with the memories of having seen our team play exciting football and winning trophies and also burdened with the comparison to the current crap crop. I would love to see us win the league again, but realistically, in these financially driven times, I accept that is exceedingly unlikely. For the club to come out and complain that the fans have unrealistic expectations is an easy way for them to deflect attention from the fact that we are not actually rioting in the streets just because we didn't win a final, or finish second in the table, we are simply very unhappy at the product being delivered. Aberdeen FC are simply not fit for purpose.
  17. oh well, let's be thankful for small mercies.
