  2. Is anyone really that surprised that the 'neverendum' (as jim murphey called it) is the main topic the Main UK parties are bringing up? I could be very wrong but I think in the back of Sturgeon's mind is 'how long will it take a fair chunk of the people who have suddenly joined our party/ are claiming to be out to vote for us to turn nasty if we haven't negotiated another referendum within x number of years?' Personally their candidate in my constituency really haven't impressed me at all. Based on her profile she has the life experience that is mandatory for anyone to get my support but to date the only contact I have had is a letter telling me to object to a 'new' recycling plant down the road in the industrial estate - its actually an extension of an existing plant but you need to either look at the planning application or know the company to know this. This letter was left outside my door (not posted through the letter box for some reason) along with a general SNP leaflet which mentioned the SNP 'invest in our traditional industries like science, innovation and engineering, while at the same time promoting new emerging sectors like renewables, the creative sector and life-sciences.' The extension to this recycling plant is supposedly going to use new gasification technology to create both cheap electricity and heating to the local area much like similar plants currently in operation in Austria and Sweden. It will also almost double the amount of construction industry waste which can be recycled in the city. The irony of the situation. As for the other candidates Lib Dems - Guy is in his early to mid 20s and according to his info has spent most of his adult life either learning about or being involved in politics Cannabis is safer than alcohol party - Pointless in FPTP Conservative - Slightly older version of Lib Dem Candidate Communist - Just a step above the Cannabis lot IMO Labour - Current MP (has been for 15 years) and based on his background (ex BT Engineer) he at least qualifies to be a politician in my book. Green - Retired teacher who spent 20 years working in the East End of Glasgow. Much like Labour guy she appears to have the life experience which should be mandatory for any politician Only the Labour and Greens are fielding the same candidates. If the opinion polls are correct the SNP are going to snatch the seat from Labour. If so that is a hell of a swing. Labour took 54% of the vote in 2010. Lib Dems -16%, SNP -15%, Tories 10%
  3. unfortunately its clashing with more important stuff Cars that Rock with Brian Johnson
  4. Another example of SPFLs short sightedness about the whole situation. Last season I suspect they were so confident hibs would stay up and that yon blue meanies would never in a million years be struggling for promotion through the common method of playoffs that they said 'aye let yer season ticket holders in for free' 12 months later and the issue comes up again but now there is a precedent....and we all know what happens when precedents favour celtic and Glasgow's 3rd airport
  5. The only requirements are 1) All-Seated 2) Complies with Taylor Report 3) Relevant Safety Certificates. Unlike the pricks at SPL and Co the English Premier league has never introduced a 'minimum' capacity rule...yet Blackpool had approx 17000 and QPR currently have just over 18000 Southampton played 11 years in the Premiership with a capacity of just 15,200
  6. I reckon there will be at least 35000 Highland Council were meant to be making arrangements for tickets to be given to local schools and other kids groups and I'm sure I heard talk of arrangements with local bus companies to offer discounted travel Megabuses and trains also on regular (not sunday) service along with many folk potentially making a weekend of it I'd say Inverness could muster up 15-18K (Ross County Managed approx 15K). Falkirk have no issues with transport and found 13k for their last final (against the evil hordes of Ibrox). The Neutral and Glory Hunter element will also come out for this one. The Missus and I will be going anyway ('Local' teams always get my backing) I could be very wrong but using Caley's League cup final crowd as the yardstick is almost like using the dons support at the 2000 Scottish Cup semi final as a judgement on the support's potential. 6:05pm kick off on a sunday = 6500 dons fans 2:30pm kick off on a sunday = 7000 Caley Fans
  7. Keith Harris Presumably that means Orville too
  8. I imagine it would be split after 30 games so it ended up with 37 matches each. Perhaps the new sponsor is sports direct
  9. Just looked at the form table and its amazing (or a sign how strange the league is) that Caley and the Arabs are still in the top half Celtic - 25 from a possible 30 County - 25 from a possible 30 Dons - 22 from a possible 30 St Johnstone - 17 from a possible 30 Thistle - 16 from a possible 30 Well - 13 from a possible 30 Dundee - 12 from a possible 30 St Mirren - 9 from a possible 30 Killie - 9 from a possible 30 Caley - 8 from a possible 30 Accies - 7 from a possible 30 Arabs - 5 from a possible 30 Would say St Johnstone are Caley's biggest threat
  10. Sevco kicked into 3rd place and need to get a win at Tynecastle next week and hope hibs fuck things up at Falkirk to avoid a playoff with QotS.
  11. Seems FIFA have something to say on the matter http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32416795
  12. Their policy of buying land left right and centre to stop their rivals from building close to them should have been investigated by the office of fair trade and the UK Planning offices years ago. Said land could have been used for many other things but Tesco just held onto it stopping potential commercial, industrial and residential developments in so many towns and cities - The Tesco town phenomenon. In several cases they aggressively evicted/ compulsory purchased away shafting lots of small businesses and residents Personally the only time I shop in tescos is in inverness and that is basically because that's about all there is. If they go bust I know at least one company who will be rubbing their hands with glee when the Metro stores start shutting down.
  13. soooooo as i now understand it if a player is sent off for 'deliberate' handball on the line there is no grounds for appeal when it was an incorrect decision (see Kevin Mcnaughton (I think it was him) several years back against hibs who cleared the ball with his chest but was sent off anyway) but if it happens and is missed by the referee, linesman and goalline assistant they can now be suspended after the match. I presume they are going to write to celtic to ask if they will accept a 3-3 draw and a replica of the Scottish cup they would clearly have won
  14. 2:30pm according to my ticket stub....and wikipedia 51,143 crowd with 43000 dons fans would leave 8,143 split between caley fans, and corporate/ sponsors
  15. They took approx 7000 but that was with a 2:30pm sunday kick off and only 1 train that could have gotten them to and from Glasgow before and after the game (and that train would have been booked solid from perth onwards so that probably wants even an option. Megabus etc wasnt much better (4 buses down but only 2 on the way back up)

  17. Seeing snide comments about hampden being half empty etc for the final. 1997 scottish cup final had a crowd of just under 49000 so I don't see any reason why Caley and Falkirk cannot muster at least 40k for this final particulalry given its a saturday 3pm kick off
  18. Star Wars is probably more historically accurate than Braveheart
  19. They will care if their employer cares ie that extra £100k for finishing 8th instead of 9th means the club doesnt have to slash the playing squad or wage bill the following season or even allows them to actually get a win bonus once in a while The prize money from the SPL is irrelevant to the likes of celtic as they make their money from sponsorship, Champions league football, and of course having a large gullible fanbase (both loyal and gloryhunting) who like to throw cash across the celtic shop tills. If there is no incentive to finish as high as you can other than 'ho look as us we're better than you' this year then I hate to think how many meaningless games there would be and how much worse the quality could get. For every player who gives his all just for the love of the game and to hell with the money there are 2 or 3 Bobo Baldes (9 years at £30k a week but only played 161 games and happily sat on the bench for 3-4 of those years doing nothing)
  20. aaaargh its the hope thats the killer!!!
  21. Who the fuck is the sky co commentator? The way he is bitching a moaning about craig Gordan's red card is pathetic.
