  1. Not offensive but it is a faux pas when you meet someone and you have to put down the teapot to shake their hand or doth your cap.
  2. 113 years and counting and Allan Stubbs spits the Dummy What price a Caley vs Falkirk Final? Meanwhile down south Bebo perhaps just stuck a dagger into Bournemouth's bid to win the Championship and perhaps even automatic promotion.
  3. Thats the nature of Playoffs Go around the world and in some cases the team which finishes 8th is crowned champions. Down south the team that finishes 6th can get into the premiership ahead of the teams in 3rd 4th & 5th Go down to league 2 and the team that finishes 7th can get promoted. I'd personally prefer that 2 were relegated from the scottish premier and the playoffs were between the teams in 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th in the 1st with the final played at a neutral venue (Mcdiarmed park, Easter Road or one of the other standard non-glasgow semi final grounds).
  4. Think the logic is 'why bother spending money we don't need to on a stadium which is 'supposedly' being replaced in the next 5-50 years?
  5. Clyde play in Cumbernauld (Population 50,000) but are rumoured to be shifting to East Kilbride (population 75000) Greenock - 25miles from Glasgow with population of 44000) Paisley - 12 miles outside of Glasgow with population of 75000 Dumbarton - 15miles outside of Glasgow with population 20,000 You start including these teams then you may as well rope in Motherwell, Hamilton, Airdrie, Kilmarnock etc as they are all reasonably close to Glasgow with quite large populations. Population doesn't breed fanbases unfortunately and given the BBC website now gives top billing to Spanish Football I wouldnt be surprised to see scottish (and indeed UK) kids forgetting home nations teams and supporting Real Madrid or Barcelona. I believe there was an attempt to amalgamate Brechin, Montrose, Forfar & Arbroath a few years ago and it did not go down well. That would in theory have created a team with a 4 town catchment population of 56000 but things do not work that way. Dingwall has a population less than 6000 but it has a premier league team. if I went back in time and met my 12 year old self and told him that the local Highland league team who send their coaches out to the rural schools would be playing Aberdeen for actual league points he'd laugh in my face. I occasionally think the likes of Albion Rovers should merge with neighbouring teams and co but then again why should they? These are established historical clubs who live within their means and have small loyal fanbases. The only time I can recall a really stupid decision regarding a new team in scotland was after the demise of 3rd Lanark. They had the choice of an Inverness team or a 3rd Edinburgh team to use the newly constructed meadowbank. Note that 40 years later an Inverness team sits 3rd yet the 3rd Edinburgh team has been through numerous administrations and is on the brink of relegation to the 3rd tier. Of course there is always Gretna,,,,,

  7. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/apr/15/bradford-fire-stafford-heginbotham-martin-fletcher?CMP=fb_ot Think I might be looking into waterstones for this one For anyone not old enough to remember it. They use this video in Health & Safety training courses to show how quick fire can spread
  8. I see they still haven't worked out when to schedule the missing pre-split Caley vs Arabs match
  9. Anyone else remember the last time they clinched the title at Pittodrie?
  10. Win/Draw against yon arabs next week and 3rd place is guaranteed.
  11. 86 85 84 83 82 81 80 - MBT 79 - 78 - Tyrant 77 - rocket_scientist 76 - Nellie The Don 75 - Dandy 74 - BigAl 73 - BobbyBiscuit 72 - Edinburghdon 71 - Mizer 70 - Manc 69 - CtS 68
  12. The joke is that football is an Olympic sport. Far as I remember the Olympics was meant to be for 'amateur' athletes but that's gone out of the window with mainstream sports such as Football, Rugby, Baseball, Basketball, Ice Hockey, Tennis etc being included either currently or in the past. Only mainstream sport that I can think of that still keeps the amateur status for the games is Boxing. They usually wait until they win a medal before selling out to the likes of Don King (is he still alive?)
  13. Sevco - Livingston (A), Dumbarton (A), Falkirk (H), Hearts (A) Hibs - Livingston (A), Alloa (H), Falkirk (A) Qos - Alloa (A), Dumbarton (H), Livingston (A) Livy and Alloa both fighting to avoid relegation so be interesting to see how it all plays out.
  14. I seem to recall saving all my criticism of the defence for a certain Derek Whyte.
  15. well top 6 sorted 2 more dons wins to guarantee 3rd. 3 more to guarantee 2nd Perhaps Kille are slowly being dragged back to the relegation playoffs? Down south the Championship looks a bit tasty top 4 teams separated by just 2 points with 4 games left
  16. Arabs on a run of 1 point from a possible 21 since the league cup semi final. If they lose their 3 games before the split they could actually miss out on the top 6! Arabs 0-3 Hamilton Caley thistle 3-0 Arabs Dons 3-0 Arabs St Johnstone 1-0 Dundee Dundee 1-0 Celtic = Top 6 of Celtic, Dons, Caley, St Johnstone, Dundee, Hamilton unlikely but you never know
  17. 2 more dons wins + 2 more caley defeats and 2nd is guaranteed Actually possible to do it before the split (if they get round to arranging caley vs dundee united before hand) In other news since they sold Mackay-Steven and Armstrong the Arabs have only taken 1 point from a possible 21
  18. A little fact the 'pro-alternative vote' campaign completely failed to get across.
  19. My question is where are UKIP going to get the votes to actually get a single seat? As i see it traditional Lib Dems are not and never will be UKIP supporters and will be switching to the greens, Independants or go tactical. Labour may lose a few votes to UKIP but I see their existing support being hell bent on stopping another 5 years of Tory rule so will stick to the red. Little to non existant UKIP support in SNP areas. Can't see the Welshies switching from their Nationals or Labour. That leaves UKIP stealing votes from their right wing brothers which would be Tory, BNP, EDL and all that bullshit but thanks to the FPTP system that surely plays into the hands of Tory seat rivals. There is the chance the 34.9% of the UK who didnt bother last time might show up and throw their support behind farage and co but I'm not holding my breath that they will.
  20. Typical that they start to play at the exact moment Hibs go into their free fall mode. Couple of weeks back I had faint hopes sevco wouldnt make the playoffs. Now I'm starting to think Hibs will doom themselves to another season in the 1st. Falkirk vs Hibs on the last day of the season could be very interesting
  21. Has something happened in the 2 weeks i've been out of the country? The idea of a Tory/UKIP coalition was ludicrous to me when I left but in the last couple of days Ive seen a few people bringing it up. I doubt UKIP will actually keep the seat they got in that by-election let alone get enough to allow the Tories or Labour etc to just have them as their coalition partner. As I see it there are only 4 parties with big enough exiting support to form a 2 party coalition and UKIP aint one of them
  22. 90 - Scunnered999 89 88 87 86 85 84 83 82 81 80 - MBT 79 - 78 - Tyrant 77 - rocket_scientist 76 - Nellie The Don 75 - Dandy 74 - BigAl 73 - BobbyBiscuit 72 - Edinburghdon 71 - Mizer 70 - Manc 69 - CtS 68 67 66 65 - Jute 64 - Wi_09 63 62 61 60 - Kowalski 59 58 - Tom_Widdows 57 4 more wins to guarantee a euro spot
  23. I would urge every scot, welshie, englander, and n.ironer to read the various party manifestos, look at the track record of your current mp/ local government and then make your decision rather than listen to the media spin. Who knows you might end up with an independant representing you with a 3-4 party coalition in Westminster and maybe that could be a good thing or potentially a disaster but let's see what happens eh? Oh and turn up and vote. Takes 5 mins and it sends a message to the twats in power that they may not be as safe as they think they are. However I predict a 54% turnout
  24. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31945468 So the council rejected the proposal of Saints to demolish one of their stands (which the club don't need) in favour of compulsory purchasing their training facilities thereby screwing saints, local sports clubs, childrens sports etc. http://www.thecourier.co.uk/polopoly_fs/1.842056.1424522933!/image/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/box_620/image.jpg[/img]
