  1. Sunderland 1-0 up in the capital cup final
  2. 3 of those events were in Glasgow 1 was in St Andrews And as far as I am aware they received next to fuck all mainstream media attention. Where are the events in places such as Inverness, Lerwick, Kirkwall, Portree, Ullapool, Fort william, Elgin, Wick, Mallaig, Dunnoon, Stornoway, Oban, Fraserbrugh, Aviemore etc etc
  3. It may be laughable to your good self and so many people but it is not to those who live there who are asking questions but getting no answers. As the Shetland Island Councillor said 'When you're 300 miles from Edinburgh, or 700 from London, at those kind of distances, Edinburgh feels as remote as London," I disagree with your comment regarding the A9 having the biggest effect as while this is happening essential services are being removed which make it harder to live in Rural areas and that has happened since Devolution. It was petrol stations a few years back, Local police stations & council service points now, and Schools and Local leisure facilities are in the firing line. The argument that other administrations were responsible for said closures or failures to act is irrelevant. The Current administration is continuing with them. At no point have then even tried to claim 'all those cuts and closures are Westminster's fault and won't happen if we are independent. It is no wonder there are thoughts that an independent Scotland will become Edinburgh/ Glasgow obsessed much in the way Westminster is London Obsessed. Especially when it is the SNP shouting the loudest while the Scottish Lib Dems, Labour, Greens, Conservatives seen to be opposed.
  4. You could therefore say I'm emulating the aforementioned S&S in this discussion? But you are right I personally do have a fear that the SNP would be in charge of an independent Scotland. I accept my atempt at a point probably was not clear. It is that everyday, stories and revelations like thosed I mention are coming out in the press and those that could or will be affected are looking towards Hollyrood, Not Westminster. And when this happens the seems to be fuck all reaction from both Hollyrood and the YES campaign to respond which will result in people going for a No vote. It is their job to convince the population to make the change but as I see it they are being far too easily distracted by the bitching and moaning between Cameron & Salmond. I'm noticing that some pro independence and on rare occasions actual YES campaign team members are stating that the SNP and the YES campaign are not linked in anyway. Unfortunately that is not how it is appearing and that is a massive mistake
  5. This is relevant Nellie and all pro Independence supporters need to start taking note of these things because they are decisions & ideas from the current Scottish government For a government that loves to slag Cameron, Thatcher and Westminster the 3 items I have highlighted are scarily Tory sounding. The fear (and I think it is perfectly justified) amongst many of those in the Highlands, Outer Hebrides, Orkneys, Shetlands and other rural areas is that they will bear the brunt of the cuts and economic problems that an independent Scotland could face. The big word in this case is COULD. So far the YES campaign which like it or not has Salmond & Co as their spokesmen has failed to give a proper answer on anything. At the moment when an obstacle is put in their way they side step it and declare it to be bullyboy tactics by the UK Government. Meanwhile extremely unpopular decisions are being made by the Scottish Government but all I am hearing is 'it will be great when we are free' That is not good enough On a related matter I found this on the YES campaign's website Funny that it only applies to ONLINE discussions Someone from the YES campaign really needs to get down to Hollyrood and pin this to Salmond & Sturgeon's doors. Especially that last one
  6. SNP really not helping themselves and the YES campaign in the Highlands http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-26392421 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-26240421 http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/3593342/
  7. M&S in inverurie and westhill are their 'simply food' stores are they not? Plus both are 'Aberdeenshire' council not 'Aberdeen City' Council. If the council are banking on all these new retail units being filled with small foodstores like sainsburys local, tesco express etc then Aberdeen really is doomed. I stand corrected on the hugo boss as it is in the Union square centre but given mates from aberdeen keep mentioning Union square's operators removing or seriously discounted certain charges for the first few years to attract retailers to take up the units and intend to start charging them fairly soon (or rather have to or the mall will be in real trouble) I'd keep an eye on how many units start becoming vacant in the next year. My point is that John Lewis is not going to shift or open another branch in a town the size of Aberdeen. M & S are not going to open another one of their department stores either. What Union street or mall retailer is going to shift to Denburn? Is this going to be another Kittybrewster where people will line up to buy PCs, DIY equipment, Play Bingo, while waiting for their new sofa order to come through? Sweep union street under the carpet and keep building seems to be the key to Aberdeen city council
  8. Hibs done by thr Arabs Dons top 6 place confirmed
  9. Any that aren't on the brink of folding or seriously downsizing to just large warehouses to adapt to online shopping. Aberdeen is too small for multiple stores by retailers such as M & S, John Lewis, Debenhams etc and the fashion chains like Hugo Boss, Harvey Nicks etc stop as soon as they see signs for Stirling. Now of course they could be building lots of small- medium units and offering them at really cheap rents to encourage new local businesses to boom in the granite city.....no?
  10. It always amazes me this fascination Aberdeen council has with retail. The horrible truth is that in the UK there are only certain cities the big retailers are prepared to really go to and in Scotland that is now only Glasgow & Edinbugh. Think they really need to stop the weekly viewing of 'Field of Dreams'
  11. Supposedly a group of rangers supporters clubs have put forward the suggestion of Dave King setting up a trust for them to pay their season ticket money into with it being released when the current rangers board comply with certain things. That's Dave 'straight as the day is long' King. A man who can always be trusted when it comes to money. First Whyte, then Green and now its King they are throwing their blinkered support behind. The word Masochists springs to mind Edit: Wow I wasn't imagining it http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26366511
  12. Fraid not Clarks record was something like 1155mins Forster made it past 1200mins
  13. soooo has any evidence of spitting and coin throwing at Tynecastle actually turned up?
  14. Sweepstake for how many more fans are posted missing at Parkhead on saturday? Also if Hibs lose on Friday thats the top 6 place guaranteed (small victories )
  15. Reckon Orkney & Shetland have a decent chance. Not so sure about the outer Hebrides There are similar thoughts going around in the North west Highlands and it appears the Yes Campaign are doing very little about it
  16. Losing 1.2million a month yet a 1.5m loan will see them through til september?
  17. Sooooo if said pattern continues February-March - Beat/draw with Celtic, Beat St Johnstone, Dumbarton, Caley Thistle, Lose to Killie
  18. Fair few places on Great Western Road or Byers Road all within walking distance (with a bit of Subway if yer feeling delicate) from Firhill. Coopers or 'The little urban achievers club' (formerly known as Hubbards or 'the wise monkey', below 'Viper) will probably have a few reds in before hand. http://goo.gl/maps/ID492
  19. I don't see your point on this one Nellie. I'll admit I havent been concentrating on this too much as I'm finding the whole thing really tedious but I cant recall england, wales and NI stating they will take away anything that actually belongs to Scotland. If I have missed this please fill me in. Salmond and Co seem to one minute be going on about 'OUR north sea oil, Our renewables ' then turning round and saying 'Lets share the pound' by the way'. What else will they then spend weeks harping on about 'we will be independent...but it makes sense if we share this with you guys'? Will it be the Armed forces? Will it be the DVLA? Will it be the GNER? Will it be Passports? I honestly wouldn't be surprised if a few months down the line if they start saying it makes more sense for all the income tax to continue to go to Westminster and the Barnet Formula to stay intact which may of course lead to 'ok lets just have more devolved powers' you are either independent or you are not and I think Salmond is starting to shit himself.
  20. The current situation puts me in mind of a stroppy teenager bitching & moaning about not being able to do anything and demanding their own independence from the tyranny of their parents. However when they do move out of the family home they continue to come back to have their laundry done, get food, scrounge extra cash for bills etc.
