  1. I watched the english premiership in the USA, France and New Zealand. The coverage there would almost make you think it was their domestic league. Setanta also showed bundesliga, dutch and french football. I believe sky has decent coverage of the spanish league too but that is all PAY PER VIEW SATELLITE coverage available all around the world. New Zealands terrestrial tv barely showed any sport when i was out there. infact there it was quite a big story when they managed to get coverage of some of the 2006 world cup. Dont recall seeing Lyon etc on the french equivalent of the BBC. our domestic media much like most of the worlds panders our own country. The way you are talking you would think skysports was on freeview
  2. How can you class 8 football league games a season on the BBC as 'broadcast as if its the domestic league'? since ITV got the FA cup you can only watch it in scotland either online or via sky If you are going to use 'match of the day' and 'the football league show' as and example then I refer you to 8 years back when BBC scotland had the rights and we actually had coverage with live games and highlights at a decent time every sunday. Then along came setanta and the rest is history. BBC & STV has the rights to fuck all coverage because the SFA and SPL took the money from pay per view. Murdoch and Co are evil but they give the masses what they want apparently. And since the public continue to pay through the nose for 100s of channels of which i estimate 75% is repeats they hold all the cash, the SPL will continue to be their bitches. Oh the other thing which I keep having to explan to my mum. The BBC is for the whole of the UK and since 81% of the population live in england they will favour english related coverage be it drama or sport. Should scotland ever gain full independance and the english league gets that same coverage then questions will need to be asked
  3. when did we ever have 'a lot' of scottish football on the box? 1993-94 the only televised games were the league and scottish cup finals 1994-96 STV started showin the occasional sunday game (1 a month or something). BBC had the cup finals 1996-now Sky or espn show max of 2 games a week depending on fixtures. Scottish cup final on terrestrial
  4. Again Man united, west brom and Newcastle all had lots of space. However Man u and newcastle are now both stuck with their current capacities because of their surroundings. Man united cant agree with the railway companies so cant extend their main stand. They also have a canal to contend with Newcastle cant get past the listed terrace behind their other stand so do actually have plans for a new stadium if demand for tickets really got out of hand (unlikely now) Westbrom have a main road coming off the M6 behind one of their goals so will be hampered by that should they ever feel the need to extend that section. Alot of things were built in the 1970s but they dont let you build exact copies today. if they did asbestos would still be a material of choice and fire safety or stadium crushes wouldnt be considered an issue. Please understand that building new stadiums or stands require new building regulations which were not a factor when most of pittodrie was built. Why do you think there is such a massive concourse behind the RDS but not behind the other stands?
  5. object considered to possess supernatural or magical powers well he did perfect his disappearing act
  6. Not if you class hampden (queens park) as a club stadium
  7. Theres building in-situ when theres lots of space and then theres the reason most clubs move to a new stadium ie their stadium is completely surrounded by houses or businesses Portsmouth had this grand plan to redevelop fratton park ensuring that the capacity never dropped below 20000 at any point. Then they added up the costs and looked at the logistics of doing so and said fuck that. There is also that little issue that is so fucking irritatingly left out by so many people. Fully rebuilding pittodrie to current UEFA standards will result in a reduced capacity of between 10-15000. we go from the 4th largest club stadium to potentially the 10th. PS Manc Don is not an architect yet so cannot speak for our society
  8. Questions must be asked as to why the 745pm kick off St Mirren Jambos game highlights can be put up at midnight yet the 3pm dons game cannot?
  9. Sure I read or heard somewhere that they arent allowed to have any debt if they play in the top division
  10. First time a new dons manager has won his first game in charge since Paul Hegarty in December 1998 Since then Ebbe Skovdahl 5-0 defeat to celtic Steve Patterson 3-0 defeat to Dunfermline Jimmy Calderwood 0-0 Draw with Rangers Mark Mcghee - 5-1 defeat by Sigma
  11. 1-0 killie Wish i could say I wasnt interested but I really hope killie shaft that little ginger cunt's bitch 11
  12. If we somehow went on to win the championship and then the champions league I still wouldnt be surprised to see us sitting bottom the space of a couple of seasons
  13. Actually he inherited a team that finished 8th and then finished bottom in his first season only being saved from a playoff with falkirk because brockville wasnt up to scratch
  14. listening to off the ball on the Iplayer and as far as im concerned Mcleish sounds like the typical puppet. People seem to be applauding his involvement because he once played the game but that was back in the 60s when tv money etc wasnt an issue Cosgrove asked him if the TV money etc should be split equally between the clubs to which he said no. Cosgrove then said ' so there will be 10 clubs but they are not equal, are you happy with the inequality'. Response was to avoid answering that question and start going on about other european leagues etc. Scottish football will never improve if Rangers and celtic who will naturally earn more money from gate reciepts, merchandising etc are also each guaranteed 25% of any sponsorship deal while the others get 5-6.25% They are stuck in the spl with the the rest of us so make them tow the line too.
  15. The miller debacle kicked off just as I went into 6th year and I only got to see 1 game that season (2-0 win over hibs). Given there wasnt the 24hr media coverage or internet discussion forums my main source for AFC news was the P & J and being young & nieve it was just another shit season as most had been since I took an interest in football. I just recall a stephen glass header shafting the huns championship hopes. Had miller been in charge now I think he would have edged it but he didnt have the opportunity to make himself look a compelte prik infront of the media like mcghee did. For sheer stubborn delusionment and lack of squad/money management Mcghee gets my vote
  16. Clearly you've never heard of the route via kingswells which cuts out the haudigan roundabout
  17. Radio scotland saying he will be signed by Monday

    Sna

so you made it to the isle of mull from englandshire whilst cunningly avoiding that notorious detour which forces you from the M74 onto the A90 to Aberdeen, then along the A96 to Inverness before drop kicking you down the A82. Wish id thought to avoid that. Took me 12hrs to get from Lesmahagow to Partick on monday
  19. I fucking hate womens football and arsenals winning goal looks offside to me
  20. But to be fair to those of us who did not see Mcghee as our saviour it appears Brown will once again have to get rid of some players to get more in. Hes not being given a transfer kitty to spend. And Brown I presume will not emulate his predecessor and immedietly get rid of all our strikers and/ or goalkeepers and buy nothing but full backs. Mcghees antics in the transfer market put me in mind of playing football age 5. If you were fat, wheezy, shite at football or all 3 you were defence or goalkeeper. Everyone else was a striker so the game was basically a rugby scrum running up and down the pitch or hall occasionally having to side step 2-3 speccy fat kids who would camply stick a leg out hoping the ball would magically stick to it. Since the other team was the same the matches were pretty much equal. Unfortunaly for Mcghee it will be at least 5more years before the SPL reaches that level
  21. Tis what happened in 1993/94 when Raith Rovers, Dundee and St Johnstone went down. St Johnstone were effectiverly relegated by Brian Irvine on the second last game of the season. Did the clubs vote that in or was that a time when the SFA just said 'were doing this!'
  22. Unfortunately watching the dons is painful suicide on the other hand....
  23. Technically it was a record equalled
