  1. Am I the only person who thinks Arsenal's second goal should have been disallowed for a foul on the chelsea defender after his slide tackle? The amount of powder puff, pathetic (and so on) incidents VAR will chop goals off for and yet getting a studs up challenge in the small of your back after you get to the ball first is OK?
  2. To reduce the chance of any future arguments here is the full updated list Rules: 1. One name per points tally for the season, first come first served! 2. Only allowed to change prediction until closure of January transfer window as along as it is to an empty tally. 78 77 76 75 74 - MBT 73 72 71 70 69 68 - danthedon 67 - RicoS321 66 - Manc_don 65 64 - Wee Toon Red 63 62 - BigAl 61 60 - Jute 59 58 - Elgindon 57 56 55 54 - Tom_Widdows 53 52 51 50 49 48 47 46 45 44 43 42 41 40 39 38 37 36 35 34 33 32 31 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 23 22 21 20 ------- Previous Champions: 2009-10: Dave_min (41 points) 2010-11: BigAl (38 points) 2011-12: Snapper (41 points) 2012-13: Tyrant (48 points) 2013-14: 2014-15: Dandy (75 points) 2015-16: Dandy (retained due to no correct scorer) 2016-17: Rico (76 points - Flawless Victory. Nothing questionable about it at all) 2017-18: Tom (73 points) 2018-19: DantheDon (67points) 2019-20: No winner - DantheDon retains title following an independent inquiry
  3. More evidence to throw back at an english football fan who criticises any other league. Remains to be seen if Charlton lodge a legal challenge. In fact given how precarious clubs finances are every team who finished below them could club together to sue the EFL for prize money they missed out on. If for some reason Derby get the maximum 21 penalty I reckon the lawyers will be in feeding frenzy
  4. Sheffield Wednesday given a 12 point penalty for the start of next season. Perhaps the EFL decided they had enough headaches sorting out the relegation from this season without adding Wednesday to it (they would have finished bottom of the league had the penalty been applied for the most recent season) Remains to be seen if Derby get the same treatment
  5. Alan Parker - 76 Think the first film of his I saw was 'Mississipi Burning' then a few weeks later my English Teacher showed us this which was probably more appropriate for my age at the time
  6. Just knew the band as a part of an Austin Powers joke but this randomly came up in my Youtube recommended videos feed. Chicago bulls fans will probably recognise it.
  7. More 'leaked' emails published by Der Speigel which seemingly undermine the CAS verdict. I would laugh so hard if the CAS verdict was thrown out especially watching how those City officials who demanded an apology back track. 7th August is possibly the first time I've wanted Real Madrid to win a game
  8. What's happening with Scott Wright? Did he ever recover from that cruciate ligament injury?
  9. Maybe it was another Fletcher?
  10. Is that practice not illegal? Something in the back of my mind says it was banned/ loophole was closed after the Carlos Tevez situation at West Ham ie all wages must come directly from the football club's income.
  11. Does that include 'walk/ fly-ups' on the day?
  12. Doesnt really concern me but out of interest what would need to be done/ paid to get the little padlock next to the site address?

  14. With 2 rounds to go in the English Championship it now seems Wigan are not the only club potentially facing points deduction. Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday facing up to 21 point penalties for selling their stadiums to their owners to make sure they didnt breach the financial fair play rules. Hillsborough was sold for £60million so the club posted a 24.6million pre tax profit. Pride Park was sold for £80million so Derby posted a 14.6million pre tax profit Further down the EFL has appealed against the 2 point penalty given to Macclesfield for failing to pay their players - They had already been docked 11 points for not paying the players and failing to fulfill fixtures with a further 4 point penalty suspended until next season. If that penalty is increased yo 3 of more Macclesfield will be relegated to the conference and Stevenage will will be put back into league 2 English football is a joke
  15. Leeds back in the bankers league for first time in 16 years. West Brom seem to be doing their best to screw up promotion. A Brentford win or draw tomorrow will put them in 2nd place with 1 game to go

  17. Ive got a few in mind but would be nice to follow BSC in person given they are techincally the closest team geographically to me. After that its either Clydebank, Maryhill Juniors or perhaps even Queens Park (see how the redeveloped Lesser Hampden looks) In other football news Clive Tyldesley has been punted by ITV. No more 'WE HAVE LIFT OFF' after Englandshire score first only for them to be pegged back in an amusing way about 10mins later
  18. Am seriously considering giving up on the 'big leagues' and throwing my support behind a local Junior or at most a 3rd division club similar to Rocket's switch to Cove. Hopefully BSC Glasgow will manage to get an actual Glasgow home again (currently groundsharing with Alloa FFS!) ideally a groundshare arrangement with the Warriors given Scotstoun Stadiums is closer to Broomhill than Firhill is to Partick.

  20. Wonder if these 430pm, 530pm and 6pm kick off times will continue should crowds be allowed back into stadiums?
  21. Seems there is a rumour about Wigan's administration being part of a betting scandal which might see someone clean up should they get relegated from the Championship.
  22. Arbitrarion as I understand it means any document relating to the disagreement must be handed over by law. Hearts and Thistle are relegated however they will no doubt be compensated and the SPFL will need to fully explain what happened with Dundee etc and the other alleged claims they made about TV contracts etc Wonder how long Cockwomble will hold on to his main job and/or his new role at UEFA?
  23. VAR at it again Lucas Moura fouled running in on goal. To stop himself faceplanting into the ground he puts his arm out and it touches the ball just before the Sheff Utd defender kicks it back into his upper arm Ref plays advantage as the ball lands at Harry Kanes feet who after a pull back scores. VAR official declares Moura handballed it after he was fouled. Kane goal and foul on Moura 'cancelled' and Sheff Utd get a free kick?!
  24. West Ham supposedly in the shit too which is bad news for the London stadium. At least QPR had the good sense to keep hold of Loftus Road when they briefly moved the previous London Olympic stadium.
  25. I'm surprised they have managed to avoid it this long. Soon as Whelan left they were in trouble as he effectively bankrolled them from 1995 - 2018. Wigan historically is a Rugby League town and as soon as Premiership football went away the football attendances dropped by about 40% within a couple of seasons and with less SKY TV money and no 'sugar daddy' the Covid possibly sped up the process. That part of England is potentially a football graveyard Bury - Gone Bolton - Struggling (nearly vanished last year) Macclesfield - on Life support Blackpool - Struggling Rochdale - Club been quite vocal on how worried they are.
