  1. Celtic win because of the mentality of their team and that of their opposition. They expect to win whereas the 'Scottish' mentality (as my Aussie GF calls it) kicks in with their opposition ie 'well they are better than us so we will probably lose.' I've only managed to see from the 50th minute onwards but the Dons players just dont look positive or confident. Get into the middle of the Tic half and then its 'rabbit in headlights' leading to a back or square pass and the move breaks down. Celtic have not looked flustered for even a second since I switched on. You can buy all the best players in the world but if the teams mentality isn't correct they will fall over their own Egos - Just look at the premiership each season. One or 2 teams will throw lludicrous money at their squad and fall on their arses up against lower spending teams who have a proper team mentality.
  2. I now think UEFA have ruined it completely and now essentially avoid both the Champions League and Europa League including the finals. Pissed off that my 5s game was cancelled last week because the opposition wanted to watch the Tic game (a standard practice these days) so we now have to play 2 games in a row this week. Seems I'm in the minority though but I find it strange when I hear Scottish football fans moaning about having to play the same teams 3-4 times a season but get excited by the seemingly annual 'chelsea vs barcelona' or ' Man U V AC Milan' games. Would like to see both competitions returned to the old 2-leg knock out format but not chance of that ever happening.
  3. The lack of 'indoor' facilities seems like a bad idea to me. Wouldn't take that much to stick a basic 'shed' over one of the training pitches but then again what do I know?
  4. I stand corrected. Seems a strange layout given the 'public' access appears to be only from the concourse areas (Not seeing an access from outside). I'm now wondering if the designers are from England-shire and have failed to take into account the rules on Alcohol in Scottish Football.
  5. First couple of Aberdeen Take-aways that came to mind- possibly both shut down now. Not even sure the one that used to be part of the Broadhill was part of those franchises.
  6. I only see one in the Hospitality area. Coffee Shop seems to be the order of the day so the hipsters will be happy. Would prefer to see an Ashvale or a Sizzlers in its place
  7. Given the accuracy of some 3D visualisations currently floating about (used to be a specialist craft but now any primate with google sketch up is setting up their own little business) I'm holding judgement till I see the technical drawings. Personally how it looks on the outside doesn't bother me so long as it actually works as a building. If the circulation ends up anything like that of Celtic Park the designers have to be shot on sight. 'Form Follows Function' after all. Isnt that right Manc?
  8. Just seen it. Challenge was outside the box but it is a foul.
  9. Financially fucked perhaps but for me it proved he was a 'Money' manager. At international level you need someone who is good without the money and incredible with it. The way Strachan sets up this team reminds me far too much of small school football. It didnt matter how much you tried, or how much you improved, on the rare occasion an match against another school was organised you knew the same names would be on the team-sheet with the occasional token newbie on the bench (I was occasionally said newbie). Didnt matter if the usual suspects didnt turn up to training, got suspended from school, took up smoking and heavy underage drinking, they were the school team and only illness or injury dethroned them from their positions. Difference with that one is the teachers in charge only had a pool of about 100kids to pick from. Strachan, Dingus and the SFA on the other hand......
  10. Just kept thinking of when ITV took over the English premier highlights back in 2001. First programme had less than 30mins of highlights and about 60mins of chat and random features such as 'Townsend's Tactics Truck'. The celebrity thing, their random 'RAF is best' and 'Conversation' skits all should have been dumped on the cutting room floor. For me the 'fun element' of any top gear challenge was when things go wrong (even when you could tell it was staged) eg buying a supercar for less than £10k, £1k porshes, 1970s british cars, 1980s hatchbacks, driving supercars in impractical areas, etc Having 3 hypercars and showing them off on tracks with the only flaw being one isnt road legal gets tired very quickly.
  11. Makes me even more glad that I refuse to pay for 'pay per view' TV Confirms to me that whilst Clarkson and co got all the credit, the Writers and editors at BBC were the real talent. I'll stick to the Dave repeats
  12. Jury is out on smith to me See alot of folk barking on about how successful he was at Sevco but they don't seem to remember his stint at Everton. Employing an ex Old firm manager who has only ever had success in Scotland is never going to work IMO.
  13. I doubt that will happen until the chances of qualification have completely vanished.
  14. I thought Toni Kombouare was OK. Granted I saw very little of the Dons in the 2 years he was there (about 1 live games, very few highlights or even TV games for some reason) but his goal against Sevco in the 2-2 draw in which Goram decided to throw the ball into his own net cemented him as OK in my head. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ee7oM5gFXuA I note his wikipedia page says he is the only player to ever take a shot that actually went over the RDS roof. That is an achievement in itself. Have yet to meet anyone else who has something positive to say about his time in a Dons shirt.
  15. I'm intrigued as to how the route loops around Pittodrie without going onto King Street. Does this perhaps mean running along the South Stand concourse then through the Car Park?
  16. Baker Hughes 10k losing some of the limelight I see http://www.greatrun.org/great-aberdeen-run Thats the 2nd new 'Great Run' in Scotland (Stirling Marathon being the other) and finally taking the events out of Glasgow & Edinburgh Both routes go past Pittodrie too. Just watch BT and co try and arrange a sunday TV match for the same day
  17. Saw Jonathan Pie tonight at the Glasgow Stand. Excellent stuff and hopefully it will lead to even more from him Australian Pink Floyd at the Hydro this Friday
  18. Should this not be in its proper place? http://www.donstalk.co.uk/index.php/topic,13607.4860.html
  19. Stood in the middle of the old Eden Park Terraces waiting for the 2005 Tri nations final to start and this came on the big screen. Decided then and there to get the fuck out of Auckland and made a proper go of Kiwiland
  20. more effective than Anne Robinson was back in 2000
  21. Killie game moved to Tuesday 6th December December now looks like this 3rd - Sevco (Away) 6th - Killie (Home) 10th - St Johnstone (Home) 13th - Motherwell (Home) 17th - Ross County (Away) 23rd - Motherwell (Away) 27th - Hamilton (Home) 30th - Hearts (Away)
  22. Think you are the only person I've seen complaining about it being shifted back to the original St Andrews Weekend date. Another example Cockwomble and his cronies having to backtrack after trying to copy Englandshire
  23. Bobby Vee - 73 And Pete Burns - 57 Unfortunate quote from BBC radio 'Vee's big break came when he was asked to stand in for Buddy Holly following a plane crash'
  24. BT will have the final say unfortunately but 3pm looks the the most logical They have nothing scheduled for that day and are up against 3 English premier games on sky which kick off at 12pm, 215pm, & 430pm
