I was just thinking about who would come in to compliment Lee Hendrie if the man eventually signs. I see Nicky Butt has been released by The Toon. No spring chicken anymore but if wages weren`t an issue couldn`t he be like a "David James" if one goes to Celtic. A short term fix until somebody more suitable comes along?
-
Not at all Mentorred! I couldn`t imagine supporting anybody else now after what I`ve been through with the club. Their exploits over the past 19 years have well and truly saved my life.

Bobby, the Rangers and Hamilton games bamboozle me because as I said to Brian I don`t recall either of these two ocassions. Only started watching The Dons properly not long after we won SKOL Cup Final in 1989 and didn`t goto a game until April 1991 so how I`ve forgotten them I`m not quite sure! I do however remember the Hibernian spot-kick drama hence why I thought it was just once he stood in for us.
-
Been talking to Brian directly on Facebook and he confirmed he played in goal THREE TIMES!!! As you`ve said there was a 0-0 draw against Rangers when Mr Snelders was badly hurt, a 2-0 Hamilton Accies scoreline when Jim Leighton got injured and a 1-0 defeat to Hibernian at Easter Road when Theo got sent off and he saved a penalty!

Anybody recall the circumstances which resulted in Mr Irvine taking over between the sticks?
-
Nellie, it`s not rocket science. Duns Amateurs the team who play in my town had a charity match against Hibs in September 2009 to raise funds for a new set of changing rooms losing 10-1 in the process. Neil Oliver ex-Falkirk defender is the Dingers' manager at the present moment hence why he called on Yogi Hughes' U-19`s to again provide the opposition for a rematch on Thursday August 12th 2010 as first time round the Borders club had accumalated £1500 which is a lot of money for them. However Jim Jefferies and his crew were also dragged into the latest brainstorming scheme and only won 2-0 Thursday night just gone compared to the thrashing The Hibees dished out last year. I interviewed Jefferies for a school project on how a locally based person does their job. Me and a friend were thinking outside the box what with Jefferies being from Lauder and got an invite to Tynecastle`s Executive Lounge to do our stuff. Still have the hour plus long exercise on tape. Mr Christie the P.E. teacher filmed us. Actually approached Hibs to talk to Jim Leighton but we turned them down when they offered just 15 minutes with the guy. Was a big disappointment for us because I wanted to meet an Aberdeen legend and Andrew my pal loved Jimbo and was a junior Hibee.

Not as funny as Brian Irvine and Robbie Winters in goal eh!

I`ve got it on good authority Hartley WILL BE going back to Tynecastle. My local town side Duns played a Hearts XI last night and after their 2-0 success in a fundraising exercise for the Berwickshire team Jim Jefferies spoke about him bringing the ex-Jambo captain up the road for a second stint with the Gorgie club within the next few days. So just watch this space. And if by some miracle Hartley does join us I`ll apologise whole heartedly and sack my spy!

I remember I was in The White Swan watching that City game with a fellow Blues fan who was working in the town at the same time and staying in the pub. Name was Ray and he had a mate from Leeds called Pete. Prefered fishing and hated football with a passion. However I think come the end of the night he`d become a closet Eastlands supporter! Simply because one couldn`t pronounce his name properly as the tide was starting to turn and things were beginning to get exciting I always recall Pete saying whenever Sun Jihai touched the ball; "Come on China!" Went from totally taking the mickey out of the guy to absolutely loving the right back all within 90 minutes! Actually nearly knocked myself cold when Macken netted the winner as I jumped over the table I was sat at and banged my head off the ceiling. Let`s just say the pain wasn`t felt til later that night!
-
Macken has always lived off the fact he scored that winner for Manchester City in the amazing FA Cup replay at White Hart Lane when The Blue Moon were 3-0 behind and a man down before Slyvain Distin, Paul Bosvelt, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Jonno rewrote the history books. Match of which I speak must be at least a decade ago now.

Sky Sports News showed the goal we lost tonight and from what I saw I think we need to stop leaking them at one end before trying to score at the other!
-
Capitalsharpie your thoughts are the same ones that have been running through my mind since they released the names of all these guys.
-
Maybe he don`t like having his picture taken. Just a thought.

Was Miller not one of those players though that only ever seemed interested when it came to playing the so called bigger teams? His performances in Europe back in 2007/08 were pretty good especially when he ripped FC Copenhagen apart second-half all by himself so I`ll always have a soft spot for the guy. It`s just a pity we didn`t see this type of high level intensity display from the lad more often.
-
We not just signed a 19 year old from Cardiff City today? Josh Magennis!!!!!

Does anyone have an idea of what they`d like our new home to be called? That`s if it`s not already been touted as something else by those in the know. Quite frankly I don`t particularly want to leave Pittodrie but hey my opinion counts for nothing.
-
I continue to love this club because as the saying goes "Every Dog Has It`s Day" and when you goto watch the team you just never know what Aberdeen side will turn up from week to week which I think is a healthy thing. I`d actually hate to be a fan of The Big Four/Five/Six whatever is now down South or the Old Firm as you kind of know what to expect from them and that`s not fun. The concept that`s always intrigued me is the idea we only ever perform against those who are supposedly better than us and nine times out of ten we come away with a result one deserves for their efforts. Really at the end of the day what other side does this theory apply to but The Dandy Dons?
-
I had a little wager on Mr Kerr scoring in his last Pittodrie match fully expecting to lose my £2.50 (£1.25 e/w at 25/1 netting me £44.17 for my troubles) as well as my usual defender, midfielder and striker to score selections.
-
Yes because I need out of Duns as much as possible!

Top Ten Games at Pittodrie (according to RedWeb)
SeeBass replied to BobbyBiscuit's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Just Dundee United and FC Copenhagen for me. That Danish pasting is probably my most favourite game that I`ve been to simply because of how it made me feel throughout the whole duration of the second-half. -
My four are Comply Or Die because T.J.Murphy is my favourite jockey and been on him the last two years when winning and finishing second. Don`t Push It with McCoy as I want to see the great man win it one day. Eric`s Charm as W.Hutchinson has won me a lot of money in the past and finally Character Building due to the fact there`s a woman riding it. Only other time I`ve picked the winner was when I had a £1 on Red Marauder at (33/1) in 2001.
-
Hey, I`m originally from Manchester and couldn`t imagine supporting anybody else but Aberdeen now! We are what I call...."a mercurial kind of a club" and I like it that way!

The Pursuit of Accidents - Level 42.

Cheers guys! Always makes me smile when we start this one up. Takes one back to the night he went to watch Premier League Darts in February 2007 at Newcastle`s Metro Arena. Brilliant entertainment like.

What`s the tune we sing just before Chaz takes his run up to a free-kick?
