Exactly, TF as other have said, we are only a few games into the season and crap like "dead man walking" trots out. Why is Levein or Paataleinen not subjected to this level of negativity? Both these mangers have had shocking runs.

I dont trust the hacks as far as I can throw them. We will not win from this. Scenario 1: Calderwood gets sack. press content will include drivel such as "over expectant Dons fans hound manager out". "Fans never liked Weegie boss", "Dons fire most succesful manager since Fergie" Scenario 2: Calderwood remains until end of season or longer. Press excrete "dons warned at start of season that poor form has dire consequences". "continuing emarassment for Dons as relegated/knocked out of cup." "Calderwood fails to manage top six place". They will find a stick to beat Calderwood regardless of what happens.

So surely then that is why calderwood is such a fan of "versatile" players. It doesnt really matter if he's diego fucking maradonna. He's there to plug a hole in the team for a short time and we are paying peanuts for him.

With regards Duff, I think he bought him to beef up the squad. I think Calderwood realised that having as small a squad as he had last season was counter productive, so to solve that, he has his preferred starting 11 and a bunch of squad players to fill in gaps, say for a half in a game, or one game until an injury clears up.

What we have to be careful of though is that the press dont whip up anti JC feeling wen its not there. I agree that there is a growing element of anti-JC feeling, but its the scale of it that we have to gaurd against. If we use the same mathematics that the hacks use for celtic in thier away european games, then all the poulation in Aberdeen, Inverness, Orkney and Shetland with a bit of Norway as well want JC to go.

He doesnt drop any of the backline just now because he knows his only options are to replace them with the likes of Duff-who hasnt had a start for a while now, which makes me think that Calderwood KNOWS hes not up to standard, and to put Severin and Foster back, which have been discussed before. I think Calderwood KNOWS his best backline, is trying to stick to it (for a change) and is hoping that these stupid bloody mistakes stop. After all, why else is he frantically trying to get Mulgrew's red card rescinded?

A voice of reason Manc. I honestly think the last two or three games we have been better. I know its cliche now after calderwood using these phrases ad nauseum, but it HAS be individual errors that have cost us games alongside our "strikers" just not scoring. In general we have been better at the back and we are certaintly creating many, many goal scoring chances, so our midfield now look ok. We have to be wary about the media actualy creating astory when one doesnt exist. The west coast hacks jump on every cance to tear us down. I would reckon that most fans would give him until Xmas, but then also to the Jan transfer window to make changes where they are needed.

Agree with all of this, The only real problem for us on saturdy was that our strikers are utter, utter pish. Our backline did ok and our midfield didnt look like the complete strangers they did the first couple of games. However. JC made a couple of hnges before the sending off and we were not as effective going forward. That to me is a worry. So much fo the transparency with officials we were meant to hae. I realy dont know how to think on the situation. Our defence has been lacking, as has been previously mentioned and not sorted out properly after two of our main players left. that to me is baffling. Most managers build from the back when rebuilding a team, makng sure thy have a solid backline and working up the spine of the team to create stability. Calderwood sticks on new players here and there whenever they are available and if he cant find new faces, he shoves them into positions they are not comfortable with. This seems lazy, and frustrating for me and the players too I imagine. He refuses to drop players when they are playing badly or out of form, insisting especially on a captain that appears not up to the job. Again frustrating. His tactics are unentertaining, and at times just plain wrong, giving too much regard to the oppoition and how they will play. I think this is why he has relative success againnst the infirm. They only know how to play one way respecrively. as someone else said (BB TF)? Scoring three goals away from home for any other team SHOULD mean you win the game. Scoring 4 at Hampden SHOULD mean you win the fucking game. Despite these neagatives, I just dont think sacking him seems the answer this time. I said previously it will take him his entire three years to build a team that will be capable of challenging for Europe and cups again. I stick to that. However. Poor, unentertainting performances CAN NOT continue, especially at home.

the things is, there was a point, fairly recently, where I felt Aberdeen could go and play teams such as Kllie and St mirren and confidently say that they will take three points, or a draw at worst, home or away. I certaintly dont feel this way about the current team at the moment, and certaintly havent felt that way since about the time of being knocked out by unt in the semi last season. This feeling rises from the points i mentioned along with some recent dire results.

I think it WILL take a while for our midfield to gel, pre season or no. I also said previously that I think it will take Calderwood the entire three years for him to build up the team to the strength, we had previously. By that I mean players with the skill, building a team with confidence and having a team that are comfortable in a formation with each other. The players seem to be playing as if they are strangers to each other, and to a point they are. This, however wont wash in a couple of months time.
