Was up north earlier this week, and went to see them v Huntly in the Aberdeenshire Cup. This was first time I've seen this age group for many years. Was hugely impressed with Nicky Low, who was completely running the middle of the park and seems like a natural leader. He was spraying balls from side to side, and for such a little guy really gets stuck into the tackle. Definitely looks one for the future

Little doubt that Mr tuppence in the pound was spoiling for a fight or at best looking to seriously wind up Mr Brown.
-
Guy behind me told me pre match that Smith got out of his sick bed to play today given that we were so short of numbers. Can't confirm whether this is true or not, but he certainly looked out of sorts and was getting ripped a new one by Humphrey

Good news Dons boost as Fyvie hits road to recovery By Michael Gannon Published: 30/03/2011 Aberdeen manager Craig Brown is hoping Fraser Fyvie can save the Dons a small fortune this summer by precluding the need to buy a new midfielder. Fyvie, who was 18 on Sunday, is on the long road back from injury after rupturing a cruciate ligament in Aberdeen's League Cup third-round tie on Alloa's artificial pitch last August. The Scotland youth international still has some way to go. He has been able to return to some light training, but he is not scheduled to rejoin the Dons squad until pre- season. The midfielder was one of the few bright spots of last season and has been a miss this term. Brown, who arrived at Pittodrie last December, has witnessed very little of the playmaker, who last January became the youngest goalscorer in SPL history when he netted against Hearts at just 16 years and 10 months. Brown said: “Fraser Fyvie is a player I have heard a lot of from people at the club. I only saw him in the flesh at the end of last season against St Mirren but I saw a lot of him on DVDs and read the reports. “I was aware of his great achievement of scoring against Hearts. He is spoken about very highly at Aberdeen and it will be great to have him back for next season. It will be like the old cliche of having a new player. “The same could be said for our other long-term injury absentees Darren Mackie and Yoann Folly. They will be like new signings. “I am sure Fyvie could save the club a fair amount of money. With Ryan Jack doing so well, it will be exciting to have some very talented young players on the books." Another promising youngster is on the mend in Peter Pawlett. The 19-year-old has been blighted by a wretched run of injury misfortune, with a broken toe and ankle trouble adding to previous hamstring and knee problems. He has been limited to just five starts this season and has not started since the 3-1 defeat at Dundee United last September. But he has resumed training and is once more competing for a first-team role. His timing could be apt, with Aberdeen without captain Paul Hartley out for this weekend's vital SPL trip to Motherwell and Brown facing limited midfield options. Brown said: “Pawlett is taking part in full training again with the first-team squad. He has been very unfortunate with injuries but he is fit and in contention for a place. “He has had injury problems but, hopefully, they are behind him." Brown also hopes defender David McNamee's injury problems are behind him but he remains a doubt for Saturday's encounter at Fir Park, with centre back Zander Diamond serving a suspension. dare I say it then.... seems a perfectly reasonable opening bargaining position when we get to discussing the transfer fee come the summer
-
I got the top prize sometime in October last year
-
Over ninety minutes and playing as we were capable of, I reckon we could potentially have beaten any of them. My point however was at the time Porto were the least known of the possible opponents and i reckoned by drawing them we probably had represented our best chance of reaching the final. After first leg, we booked and paid a £50 deposit to travel to Switzerland for the final by train from Aberdeen. Absolutely fucking gutted that night we crashed out to them
-
In all honesty, I think in part we did. I remember standing in the rain in Gothenburg when the team had finally left the pitch, when I had tears streaming down my face, thinking I'd never see the likes again. Having said that after coming back from Portuga the next year and losing the first leg of the semi 1-0, we booked up for the final in Switzerland. Still struggle to believe we didn't get back to the final. At the time the last four were us, Porto, Juventus and Man Utd, I remember praying we would get Porto

Missed this post MBT. Got to agree with you on this. To the younger lads on here imagine attending three cup finals in a row against the brothers grim and winning them all and having the luxury of your manager slating the team after one of them, because despite the victory it wasn't up to the standard you'd become used to
-
Still find it bizarre that Fergie signed him for Man Utd, however I it is alleged that he has admitted that Milne was in fact his worst ever signing for Man U.
-
Totally bizarre this one. The more I read it the more I can't help but think there is more to this than meets the eye. Thought Craig Brown's comments upon announcing the signing in Jan were strange, about not being ready for first team action, being one for the future, and then only giving him a contract until the end of the season. I'm sure the truth will out eventually.
-
Appreciate we have a cup semi final on 17th of next month, but can we really afford to place all contract talks on hold until after that. In the unlikely event that we actually turn up for this one and get a result, what then ? Do we then put contract talks on hold further until after cup final We would be at the end of the season and have a number of players still to decide their future. Risky business if you ask me. Surely this is just the public comment from Messrs Brown and Knox and in reality we will surely be working away in the background.
