  1. Over ninety minutes and playing as we were capable of, I reckon we could potentially have beaten any of them. My point however was at the time Porto were the least known of the possible opponents and i reckoned by drawing them we probably had represented our best chance of reaching the final. After first leg, we booked and paid a £50 deposit to travel to Switzerland for the final by train from Aberdeen. Absolutely fucking gutted that night we crashed out to them
  2. In all honesty, I think in part we did. I remember standing in the rain in Gothenburg when the team had finally left the pitch, when I had tears streaming down my face, thinking I'd never see the likes again. Having said that after coming back from Portuga the next year and losing the first leg of the semi 1-0, we booked up for the final in Switzerland. Still struggle to believe we didn't get back to the final. At the time the last four were us, Porto, Juventus and Man Utd, I remember praying we would get Porto
  3. Missed this post MBT. Got to agree with you on this. To the younger lads on here imagine attending three cup finals in a row against the brothers grim and winning them all and having the luxury of your manager slating the team after one of them, because despite the victory it wasn't up to the standard you'd become used to
  4. Still find it bizarre that Fergie signed him for Man Utd, however I it is alleged that he has admitted that Milne was in fact his worst ever signing for Man U.
  5. Totally bizarre this one. The more I read it the more I can't help but think there is more to this than meets the eye. Thought Craig Brown's comments upon announcing the signing in Jan were strange, about not being ready for first team action, being one for the future, and then only giving him a contract until the end of the season. I'm sure the truth will out eventually.
  6. Appreciate we have a cup semi final on 17th of next month, but can we really afford to place all contract talks on hold until after that. In the unlikely event that we actually turn up for this one and get a result, what then ? Do we then put contract talks on hold further until after cup final We would be at the end of the season and have a number of players still to decide their future. Risky business if you ask me. Surely this is just the public comment from Messrs Brown and Knox and in reality we will surely be working away in the background.
  7. Can't imagine what Scottish clubs are waiting to make him an offer Rule out the Huns, that really only leaves Farts and Jungle Jims. Would have thought that Lennon couldn't really be that stupid but then again there is the Mulgrew precedent Rumoured elsewhere that Cardiff are one of the Championship clubs lining him up

  14. Different slant from today's Sun, and pretty much confirms what I was told, apart from the bit about clubs down south now being in for him. CAMMY BELL'S Kilmarnock axing has sparked a Championship chase down south. SunSport understands Doncaster, Coventry and Derby are all on high alert after the out-of-contract keeper was dropped because he failed to sign a new deal. We revealed in January Rangers and Aberdeen were both keen on Scotland's third-choice keeper as his Rugby Park deal ran down. But the trio of English sides are among a clutch of clubs south of the border who have been watching him. Boss Mixu Paatelainen - who insisted in January that any contractual issues would not influence his team selections - confirmed to Bell yesterday he'd be frozen out as long as he continued stalling over an extension. Finn Anssi Jaakkola took over in goal when Bell picked up an ankle injury nearly three weeks ago and now looks set to be given an extended run in the side Read more: http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/spl/3470242/Chase-is-on-for-axed-Bell.html#ixzz1Gksn2CHF
  15. Cammy Bell is out of contract at Killie this summer and has been frozen out by Mixu, not even getting on the bench nowadays because he is refusing to sign new contract allegedly. Could do worse than enquire about him. On seperate issue take point about scouring Europe for a keeper. Don't know who has done the scouting for keepers at the Arabs in the past few seasons, but they certainly seem to have managed to unearth a few decent enough keepers without busting the bank in the process
  16. Sorry to disappoint you all, but I missed that game. Nae bastard would swap shifts with me and I was forced to work instead. Nae luxury of listening to the game online back in those days. Transistor radios were still uncommon and only owned by the wealthy.
