  5. Think it was '72 the year I moved to close to Aberdeen. Should have been at a Scottish Cup tie prior to that v Elgin City but game was called off on the Sat and my old man wouldn't travel mid week to the rearranged game. The problem of having an non AFC supporting parent
  6. Remember the last swop deal with the Arabs involving a player with a similar name Take it we're not planning on parting with the guts of £750k this time around
  7. A 2-2 each draw [ I think ] against Falkirk Zoltan Varga was playing

  11. Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood has revealed his Christmas wish as he prepares to serve up a festive treat for the Dons supporters. The Dons manager hopes to be in a position to field his first-choice attacking line-up by the end of the year after receiving positive news from the club’s medical staff. Fears Sone Aluko could be sidelined for a lengthy period after limping out of Saturday’s win against Motherwell have been allayed and Jamie Smith is back in training. Calderwood insists he will find room for both versatile attackers in his Aberdeen team as he bids to play them together for the first time this season by the end of the year. He said: “We have dreamed about playing Jamie and Sone together again – it would be quite exciting to say the least. “On Saturday against Motherwell the game needed a bit of magic and Sone was one player on the pitch who could create it. Jamie is the same. “Sone will go for a scan as a precautionary measure because he had a problem with his hamstring last year. We will know for sure after that has taken place, but it looks like he will be out for a couple of weeks. “Jamie is back running and it shouldn’t take too long for him to reach full fitness and rejoin the squad. Hopefully, he will be ready around Christmas time.†Aluko and Smith, who have both been used in wide and central positions by Calderwood, have only been involved in the same squad once this season. The teenager was substituted at half-time in the 1-0 victory at Falkirk in October, while Smith was not introduced until the 75th minute but both are likely to line-up together within weeks. Calderwood will hope greater attacking options will aid his attempt to breathe new confidence into his side. He said: “The difference between Aberdeen and Motherwell on Saturday was we had a player in Sone Aluko who could produce that bit of magic to turn it in our favour. After the goal we started to play, the confidence came back and we could have scored four or five.†Andrew Considine, another casualty, will be back before Aluko and could feature against Kilmarnock this weekend after reacting positively to treatment of his knee injury. Chris Maguire, Jeffrey de Visscher and Gary McDonald are all pressing for a recall as Calderwood prepares to shuffle his pack to counter the loss of Aluko. Calderwood, meanwhile, was disappointed his team was not drawn at Pittodrie in yesterday’s Scottish Cup fourth round. The Dons will be away to either Raith Rovers or Alloa and Calderwood expects a difficult match. “It is disappointing we have once again got an away draw and it will be a tricky tie whoever we play,†he said.
  12. Aberdeen chairman Stewart Milne last night stressed Dons supporters should wait until there is a firm site for a new stadium for the club before worrying about where the funding will be found. Debt at Pittodrie has been reduced to £6.5million following an operating profit of £2.335million for the financial year ended June 30, but the proposed new community stadium for the club remains the priority for Milne and his board of directors. They were quizzed by those in attendance at last night’s annual meeting, with several querying where the funding for the development will come from. Milne told the 100 shareholders at the meeting that they may be asked to help with funding should a site be identified and planning permission granted, but he also hopes government funding and local authority money will be forthcoming. The issue should become clearer in February when the feasibility study into potential new sites in the city is completed. He said: “The clock has been ticking for a few years now as far as Pittodrie is concerned. “People will say we have been claiming that for a number of years but the reality is we are having to spend more and more money every year to stay here and that investment is only going to increase. “A community stadium is more pressing than ever and the most important issue for us. Hopefully, the situation will become clearer in February. "I am hoping there is a clear location identified by then which will allow us to get our teeth into moving the project forward in terms of the planning and funding process. It is important we don't get caught up in funding issues at the moment as it is all hypothetical." Following the club's most successful financial performance, largely due to the run in Europe last season, Milne admitted the absence of European football this season will hit the club financially when next year's financial results are published. He said: “The financial results have given us a platform for moving forward. “We have said for some time the best way to do that is by investing in the longer term. We want to invest in the squad for two or three seasons at a time. “What Jimmy Calderwood and the team achieved last season in Europe was fantastic and I think we made a real signal of intent for Scottish football in that another club made progress in Europe outwith the Old Firm. “We had a challenging draw all the way through and it was a tremendous achievement to reach the last 32 of the Uefa Cup. (Managing director) Duncan Fraser has projected a £600,000 operating loss for next year which illustrates how fortunate we were in terms of the teams we were drawn with and the television revenue the games generated. “Not being involved has a massive impact financially.†The Dons chairman and his board were given a relaxed evening by those in attendance, with the meeting lasting 53 minutes. The only occasion the tension rose came when some shareholders questioned what they perceive to be criticism about them from director of football Willie Miller, manager Jimmy Calderwood and the players for expecting too much of the team. Milne insists the feedback will be taken on board by the club.
  13. Guess in summary on the new stadium issue, we've still nae got a clue and are no further forward
  14. Nae biscuits Fucking tight Aberdonians Did security nae take Rocket oot the back and give him a slap then
  15. Nope My boy has just turned his o'er to reveal Angus as the Dec pin up
  16. That'll be some kind of record if it takes that long
  17. Likely to miss Saturday's trip to Killie Jamie Smith back in training Stuart Duff still recovering and Bossu only out for another couple of weeks Considine injury not as bad as first thought
  18. Opportunity for Jackie Mac to reacquaint himself with QoTS
  19. Thought St Johnstone got a home draw
  20. Only thing lacking in Miller's contribution is goals. Never going to be a thirty goal a season sort of striker, but would be good to see him regularily hitting fifteen to twenty a season for us [ excluding penalties ]
  21. Aluko got sponsors MOTM Miller got BBC Scotland MOTM Looks like shaping up on here as Kerr getting MOTM. Interesting how different folk view the same game in different ways
  22. Aye, your legs are not as nice as that
  23. The depressing thih in this is that you just know who the first one to sign a new contract is going to be don't you Got to be Deek Dung, followed by the quote from JC saying how he wasn't difficult to deal with and a great guy to have around the place. For not difficult to deal with read "shite, and realises he's not wanted anywhere else" I'd keep, Seve, Smith, Mackie and Mair [ but only on condition that he plays nowhere other than as a centre back. Jury still out on JDV after season and a half so might need to go, to free up wage for a quality signing Young, not surprisingly can leave anytime he feels like it
