This day in 1972 saw the debut of the Hungarian magician known as Zoltan Varga (RIP). Delighted to say I was there and as a youngster, I was in awe of what that guy did and continued to do over the course of that season with a football. His time was way too short in the red of Aberdeen, but I guess without the dubious nature of how he ended up with us, we would never of had him in the first place. I was in Budapest last month and on the way to the airport passed the stadium of Ferencvaros which led to a lengthy chat with the taxi driver who being of similar ages also remembered Varga.
