Well what a fecking day that was Know that as someone that was there in the eighties I shouldn't really get overly excited just about finishing third and Eurpoean qualification but cannae help it guys. What a fantastic that was, and everyone in red was a hero yesterday, including the support who were magnificent. Was the result really in any doubt once Seve's thunderbolt hit the rigging..... course it wasn't. Haven't managed to see a re run of it yet, but might even have to watch Scotsport to savour it again. Not even going to let the bitter and twisted Andy Wanker put a dampner on things. Delighted we stayed to savour the after match events, which allowed the Huns to get a head start down the A90, which just added to the enjoyment by winding the fuckers up with Dons flags out the windows of the car, and hitting the horn prior to going past them. Anyway, all summer to survey the map of Europe and decide where we fancy going. STAND FREE

Agree he is a decent player and rated down Rugby Park way. Do you stay in Killie Innesciver ?
-
I'd take £450k for Hart right now and another £450k once he gets his first international cap prior to the end of this calender year
-
MacNamara is there to play Left-back IMO. Thats where he played for Wolves... Agreed D.P. Welcome on board Jackie
-
As long as it's not 1955/56 all over again FFS you really are an old bugger
-
To be honest, I genuinely believe this is not beyond the realms of possibility on Sunday.

Had a quick look online and found this in todays Glasgow Herald May 11 2007 Aberdeen are close to signing the former Celtic captain Jackie McNamara. Jimmy Calderwood tried to play down the link yesterday but The Herald understands that negotiations are at an advanced stage. The Pittodrie manager also refused to deny he plans to move for Michael Stewart, released by Hibernian, insisting he was too focused on Saturday's visit to Parkhead to discuss transfer business. McNamara, at 33 now in the veteran stage of his career, will leave Wolves in the summer and has been linked with Hibs and Dundee United. Aberdeen considered moving for him last January but decided instead to wait until he was available on a free transfer. The former Celtic player would, however, have to agree to a cut in wages. advertisement "We are discussing several options and are close to sorting one of them out," Calderwood confirmed, "but I will talk about a deal only once it has been done. Transfer targets are for another day." Lack of cash could also prove problematic should Stewart, ushered out of Easter Road, be a target for a club currently around £13m in debt. Meanwhile, Calderwood is aware only a victory at Celtic Park will help pave the way to a third place finish in the Bank of Scotland Premierleague as Hearts continue to breathe down Aberdeen's neck in the battle for European football next season. "They have set high standards this season," he added, "and they know they will have to get back to them, although hopefully it might take them another week. In a way it is understandable but there are a lot of good professionals there and they have a tough Scottish Cup final coming up so they will be looking to lift themselves prior to that."

Good to see your absence from DT hasn't mellowed your opinions on life Kelt

Saw elsewhere... don't make me name it though that there is an article pasted from The Times that as good as says this is a done deal for McNamara. Reasonably happy about this if its true, although he seems to have bene around for an eternity he is 32, and certainly has a decent pedigree, and back in the international frame.

Call me an old cynic if you like, but I've got to say that was my first reaction to hearing about him as well. See that Coventry are sniffing around him now, so I guess thats the difference between him and Dan Smith as don't really recollect anyone else being after him
-
Can't really disagree with any of previous comments on this post. Far from convinced he would have made it at the good ship AFC. Wish the boy no ill though, and admire him for plying his trade for a year as an amateur. Good luck stateside

Well an agent's hardly gonna say "No-one wants my client" are they? My point was one of surprise that he would expect folk to believe his client was good enough for the Premiership
-
See his agent is today making noises about a couple of Premiership clubs apparently being interested

TICKET AVAIL FOR ABERDEEN END FOR HEARTS GAME THIS SUNDAY!!
BigAl replied to a topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Christ I'd love that ticket, but going to be in Prague for the weekend, so will need to make do with finding a suitable pub to watch it in -
Where about are you hiding out these days then Hope the warped sense of humour hasn't mellowed any in the months you've been away
-
I guess it also serves to highlight just how rank rotten we've been against the Brothers Grim this season. Disappointing particularily after last season going undefeated against the Huns.
-
Don't take it so hard mate, just an observation that your two posts to date had both been critical of this site, and fired up my curiuosity as to who you really were. You ARE welcome
-
Mmmm interesting post. Total of two posts, both praising AFC Hat, and knocking DonsTalk. I wonder
-
Two things about Stewart. Firstly he seems to have had problems virtually everywhere he has been, Notts Forrest, Heart, Hibs, and secondly we certainly can't compete in wage demands for him. I believe Sunderland are favourites to sign him
-
It would appear that he's right you know. Indeed. Maybe I should listen to him more often. Been south of the border for a couple of days. Has this actually been confirmed as of yet, or is it merely a case of folk putting 2+2 together because he worked under Tommy Craig at Newcastle ?
-
Tom Jones I mean ffs we signed this guy at a time when we were still in the top two in Scottish football and for the older ones amongst us I give you WALKER MCCALL

Article from tonights E.E. Dutch striker Dyron Daal could still win a professional contract at Pittodrie, writes Andrew Moir. The towering hitman, who joined Aberdeen on amateur forms last August, has been farmed out to Dundee on loan after failing to break into the Dons first team. He has scored three goals in three games for the Dark Blues and Jimmy Calderwood has refused to rule out handing Daal, 23, a proper deal. "We have had people watching Dyron in action for Dundee," said Calderwood. "We received a good report on his first match there but his second game was more favourable. "Dyron has been scoring goals so you can't ask for more than that. "We'll keep monitoring his progress and there's still a chance he could do something at Aberdeen. "At least he's getting games at a higher level than the reserve league. "Dyron has scored three goals in three games so he must be doing something right."

Apparently both could be back in the squad for Hibs game on 21st April. Personally speaking I wouldn't rush Smith back, as wouldn't rull out the possibility of it all flaring up yet again. Assuming we take no less than seven points from our next three games Europe could be sewn up, and then allow Smith to rest and get full pre season under his belt.
