  1. Shame on you Sneckie
  2. Seems a shame, given the postcards should start arriving at Tinkcastle anyday now
  3. Didn't see the game only had Radio Scotland commentary, so shouldn't really comment upon the shooting policy, but have to be honest and say it has long annoyed me our inability to get shots in on goal, so ain't really going to knock if it if thats the policy we adopted today. As I said earlier, sounds like one of our better performances in the league this season, and kind of strange how like the other one that springs to mind we had a number of supposed first team picks missing again
  4. Shamelessly copy and pasted from Sunday Herald site, thought this article was worthy of sharing. Seems pretty fair to me Written by Kenny Hodgart IN NO particular order, or at least in an order which it would be churlish to be particular about, some thoughts from watching Aberdeen play Atletico Madrid last week. 1. The Spanish police are about as heavy-handed in their attitudes towards visiting football supporters as their countrymen serving in bars are when it comes to pouring whisky. Aberdeen fans in one bar, first mollified by uncommonly large measures of Laphroaig, were taken by surprise before the game when a group of Atletico hooligans hurled flares and bottles into their midst. Rather than give chase to the arsonists, however, riot police took it upon themselves to wade into the Aberdonians, exercising indiscriminate use of the baton. 2. In the hierarchy of things most people don't really care about, the plight of British football fans on their travels trumps even the inquest into the death of Princess Diana. The phrase "innocents abroad" should be applied sparingly. However, having nicked the North Sea's fish from under their noses, is it too much to expect the Spanish to leave the folk of the north-east with their good looks intact? 3. Why is it that whenever local television stations decide to sample the carnival atmosphere of visiting Scots fans on their news programmes, they always find the tiny minority who are overweight and drunk? Anyone would think we had appalling attitudes to food, alcohol and personal hygiene. 4. In all truth, Aberdeen fans - as most of their Scottish counterparts invariably do, even in defeat - gave cause for immense pride. In two camps, one behind the goal and the other high on the stand facing the dug-outs, they were kept in the stadium for 20 minutes after the whistle, and sang their hearts out. From the press box it was like an opera in the round. A bit. You half expected Alex Salmond to come out and make a speech about feel-good factors, the Commonwealth Games, fish and so on. 5. Pity the chap who had to translate Jimmy Calderwood's post-match musings for the Spanish press. What is Spanish for "gutted"? More pertinently, seen from above - the Vicente Calderon Stadium is a pretty steep-sided arena - Jimmy's balding crown has a decidedly whitish hue. Evidently an oversight in his tanning regime. 6. If you fall over in European football, there is roughly a 95% chance you will be given a foul. Spanish teams are better at using this to their advantage than Scottish ones. 7. Unfortunately this is not the only thing they are better at than Scottish teams. 8. Another Laphroaig please, and I suppose a fish supper would be out of the question?
  5. What that man said
  6. Aye still laughing aboot yer reaction and explanation
  7. There are always going to be differing versions of what did or didn't kick this off, but bottom line appears to be this in the main seems to happen in Spain, Turkey, and Italy. I fail to see that the Spanish police don't really know who the Madrid troublemakers are. What did they do to stop this kicking off ? I'll hazard a guess not a lot, and as usual probably took the easy option and hit out at innocents to try and break it up. This seems to happen regularly with Scottish teams in Spain. there has to be a common denominator. For officials of our club and Grampian's finest to have been drawn in to it just kind of proves the point. UEFA have to take a stand with them, if the safety of innocent people wanting to attend a football match can't be guaranteed. I'm pleased to say that our trip was relatively hassle free, found the Spaniards in hotel/bars etc to be first class and welcoming. Even asked numerous police for directions and all helpful and happy to chat/help. There are I beleive differing types of police force in Spain, and it would appear that there attitude differs considerably. Anyway back home now, after Friday night in Temple Bar, Dublin.... fucking fifteen euros for a voddie and coke and a pint is outrageous by the way. Hope abody else makes it back safely if not already here. Good to meet well kent faces and some new ones. You'll a' ken fa you are

  19. Read that article in the Herald earlier on today and thought it was a great read. Am I interpreting it correctly in that this guy is campaigning for us to be applauded onto the pitch by the Athletico players ?
  20. I'm also extremely disappointed with Jackie mac, andf share the view that if only for the benefit of passing on experience I thought he was a good signing.... unfortunately just not happened though

Contentious last line mate Nonetheless welcome on board.
  24. Big Dunc spent most of his time trying to wake "Pele" Paterson from his drunken slumber. I think it might be a good idea to offload Lovell. Perhaps as an exchange. I'm sure Superkev would look after him in Cardiff. But somethings got to be done to inject some life into our strikeforce. There's clearly fuckall inspiration coming from the midfield. So we need strikers who are gonna create something. We need strikers who are gonna take pot-shots from outside AND inside the box. Basically we need a fit-again Jamie Smith. Nae the daftest suggestion I've read.
