  1. Black was an incredible header of a football, one of the best I've ever seen.
  2. Agree with the above. Can't think of anyone else to compare with for Weir. As for Puyol, he is a great tackler, but as you say does not have the same class as Miller had. Further up, I'm not sure about Strachan and Fabregas. Both are/were exciting players who drive/drove their teams forward, but Strachan was very much a winger in his days with us!? How about Aaron Lennon?
  3. +1 Sounds dreadful.
  4. I too thought of Van der Sar for Leighton. Couldn't really think of anyone else.
  5. Snapper hits the back of the net: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-11443271 85 is a good innings for somebody who drank like a fish.
  6. Not sure if this will have legs, but... I was chatting to a younger Dons fan the other night and telling them about some of the players who won us the ECWC. I was explaining that McLeish was a very classy centre half and I was asked for comparisons with any players playing today. I suggested there was perhaps similarities to the likes of (Rio) Fedinand or Pique. Which got me thinking, who in world football today could we compare to some of the team who won us the ECWC? Jim Leighton Doug Rougvie Alex McLeish Willie Miller John McMaster Neale Cooper Gordon Strachan Neil Simpson Mark McGhee Eric Black Peter Weir John Hewitt Stuart Kennedy Bryan Gunn Andy Watson Ian Angus
  7. David Peace. I've read the Red Riding books, and The Damned United. Are any of his other books any good?
  8. £4.99 in JJB.
  9. Too many decent athletes have pulled out of this, which is a shame. Looks like it's going to be a farce for 10 days.
  10. Jury is still very much out on Maguire for me. One good game doesn't mean he's exempt from criticism. He needs to keep it going before I'll be convinced.
  11. Can't quite decide what to make of This Is England 86. It was okay, but pretty slow stuff over four episodes. Another violent scene in tonight's final episode. I think they should have just perhaps left it at the film though! But at least we got a reminder of the Hand of God!
  12. Two nights at the Barras would have been better.
  13. March 2011 Mon 14th LEEDS, O2 Academy Tue 15th BIRMINGHAM, O2 Academy Wed 16th NEWCASTLE, O2 Academy Fri 18th GLASGOW, SECC Sat 19th MANCHESTER, Apollo Tue 22nd BRIGHTON, Centre Fri 25th LONDON, O2 Brixton Academy Tickets go on sale Friday October 1st. £28.50 regional / £37.50 London
  14. After some considered reflection, I've decided that the Freebass and Charlatans albums aren't particularly good IMHO. Both have done the opposite of grow on me.
  15. I don't know why, but this scene immediately sprung to mind:
  16. First time I've seen them after not renewing my season ticket for the first time in 10 years. I thought we collapsed big style in the second half, and our defence was all over the place. I'm going to the ICT game though, as I happen to be in Inverness that weeked.
  17. In/Oot: In Prematch: Parents' hoose Match: Main stand Post Match: Parents' hoose Prediction: 0-0
  18. If McGhee is still dishing out community service for red cards, then Diamond should be doing Maguire's!
  19. As far as I could tell it was a back 4 of Ifil, Diamond, Whatshisface and Considine.
  20. I think McArdle was right mid.
  21. Diamond and Ifil have been utterly terrible today. Whole defence looks like a shambles. Playing Ifil at right back is clearly not working.
  22. 2-1. Stonewall penalty to the Huns.
  23. 1-0! Great finish from Vernon!
  24. Pretty sparse crowd by for a game against one of the Infirm.
