Already the “history” thread contains alternative facts. I grew up in the 70s and 80s and there was plenty Scottish history taught in schools, all the kings & queens, and the “legends”.

Not sure. Vast majority surely have their national stadium in their capital city, irrespective of whether it’s the largest city. Spain and Italy seem to rotate their venues.

I don’t hate Hampden the stadium as much as others but I just think it’s in the wrong place. Given vast numbers of the locals would rather support Ireland or the Guffs, the National Stadium should be somewhere around Perth or Stirling to make it far more accessible to the whole of Scotland. Significant numbers of the Tartan Army travel from north of the central belt. As stated above, that side of Glasgow can be horrendous to get out of if you’re travelling by car or coach. It ain’t gonna happen. I’d have taken Murrayfield as it’s a little easier to get to.

He may well be innocent of the allegations, but of course he way well not be. The allegations are surprising but god knows what folk get up to in private. He’s always been a bit of a fud. But he’s done a helluva job turning sexual allegations into a story about civil service in the Scottish Government instead. I thought the Adrian Chiles alcohol doc was refreshingly honest. He’s probably shut himself out of some future broadcasting roles given he’s having a decent drink 6 days a week. Connery pisses all over Daniel Craig. Craig has done a great job though. The very early Bond movies weren’t played for laughs. It was when Moore took over that they went all silly.

We’re not building the Emirates so why the comparison I don’t know. I went to the Madjeski a few years ago. Cracking stadium, with a brilliant atmosphere. Hoping for something like that.
