Shaqiri looked brilliant at the 2010 world cup but doesn't really seem to have done much since. Stoke could be a really good move for him

I ain't got no six pack
-
Yeah but it's Hamilton. Play full strength against the tims, shake it up against Hamilton, full strength against hertz. Easy

DM stirring the pot nicely in the herald, he really does remind me of fergie sometimes. The Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has slapped down Ronny Deila's assistant, John Collins, over comments in which he claimed that Scottish players are not good enough to offer Celtic proper preparation for European football. The Parkhead No.2 sparked widespread anger when he claimed Ladbrokes Premiership players are not good enough to test the champions and that his side had to learn how to defend better in Europe. He claimed Scottish players are not clever, nor quick enough, thinkers to give Deila's outfit a real challenge and that there are not enough quality players to punish them. But McInnes reacted angrily to reports of Collins's remarks which he called disrespectful. "He's got a lot to say for an assistant manager, to be honest," McInnes insisted. "He's entitled to his opinion but if it was that easy they'd win the treble every year. "I think it's very disparaging; it's a poor comment. "Whether he thinks that or not, I think it's disrespectful to the rest of the league to say that. It's disappointing. "There is a level of competition there that can test them and I think what he said is a slap in the face to the rest of the league." Collins accusations are bound to foster antagonism from other managers while McInnes's retort could signal a tense game when the teams meet at Pittodrie on September 12.

Killie came with the basic gamelan of hacking their way through the match. They were pretty odious it has to be said. Overall a very solid performance, delighted to see shinnie at lb and he was a threat all game. I'm calling it, Smith is going to be a big player for us this season

I'm driving to this from Glasgow and heading back down after. Got a spare seat if anyone down this way fancies it. In Driving Main Driving Scrappy 2-0 Smith and Rooney

Agreed, they should give freebies to schools to fill it up and get then hooked young -
Rhodes clearly knows where the back of the net is but he's not very mobile, I think he doesn't get the call more often due to this.

Agreed re Robson. He's supposed to be the calm experienced one as well! Flood seems to have played himself into contention but he could really only come in for Shinnie. Given you can't see us not playing with three at the back you're gonna pick Shinnie alongside Jack every single time. But, then again, we hasn't ever had a manager harder to predict in my memory so we could yet go 433 with shinnie at lb -

You're bang on there Manc, it is a true test of the squad. IMO DM will be drilling into them as I type to remember back to this point last season. I think the squad will be really focused tommorow and the depth we have now means fatigue is not the same issue. For example: Rooney will def start, I think we can all agree on that. Combine his freshness, record against utd and determination to take his chance and stake a claim for thursday he is going to be right up for it. You have to fancy him giving their defence a torrid time as a result. It's so hard to predict DM lineups but I think we will go something like this. ward logan Quinn/Taylor Considine Shinnie flood Jack Mcginn/smith Maclean Hayes/smith Rooney edit, put wright when i meant smith #fail

Dreaming of the title but realistic about my hopes. Groups stages of Europa would be amazing for the money alone and would further experience and improve the squad. If we make the group stages though we need at least two more players, a cm and a striker. Yes shinnie can play in the cm, and I'm coming around to the idea, but we would need to rotate more and we could do with a another CM imo. A Heikinnen, Bisconti or more recently an Arnason type player would be a great addition to our squad. failing a title challenge I would think at least one cup final would be base camp for me in terms of a good season.

Really don't understand the cynicism from Aberdeen fans. They will likely be playing dixon and McGowan at fb ffs!
-
I feel quite confident about this one. Out, I'm on call this weekend so I'll watch it on telly 3-0 dons in sweety revenge for the opening day last season. MacLean double and Rooney
-
I think MacLean has to start on Thursday

Agreed on all counts. Why would we want to sign a player that's just going to want to move to the horribles as soon as possible? Fuck that. -
Not that any of us are wanting to get ahead of ourselves or anything but here are actual figures. So about 1.8 mill for getting to the groups (#toldyouso ) so now you add on ticket money's to that. My guess for three home games assuming sell outs and averaging 28 quid a ticket over 19000 sales (remaining 1827 going on comps for dignitaries, sponsors and club hospitality) we make 532k per game. Say we did 350 (seems a reasonable figure but if you know better feel free to amend) hospitality sales that's an extra 100k at 285 sheets a head (thats according to the club website for a platinum game). If we actually managed to win some games that would be extra cash so maybe takings could push 5 mill. I would gueestimate minimum overall profit for reaching the groups once costs are taken into account would be about 3 and a half mill. I imagine we could build a fairly kick ass training facility and then some with that kind of money.

It's hard not to be quite confident about this tie...... That's a little worrying in itself.
-
Replacement for schweinsteiger I would think manc
-
Yeah I don't really see the fuss about Allan truth be told, he's alright but better than MacLean, peepaw or Smith? Not for me. That said if he did come it would be worth it for the seethe from mordor alone. Ultimately att mid seems to be filled, if we were to move for another one I would be after Christie from ict. It's cm that needs another addition imo.

£1.8 mill tv cash if we make the group stages
