I didn't say that was the cause of no atmosphere i just said that the set up makes it harder to build atmosphere. In well over 100 trips to pittodrie i can think of only 3 or 4 games where the noise created by aberdeen fans has been really intimidating. Its like trying to boil a pan of water without a lid on it. You'll get there in the end but it takes so much more effort

(tin hat on) As it is I dont really like pittodrie much as a ground so i find it hard to mourn its forthcoming death. Aesthetically it looks totally disjointed, I once heard a fan describe the ground as 3 bike sheds and the RDS and its hard to argue with this assessment. Because of this its very hard to build any kind of atmosphere in the ground. The majority of the noise from the RDS passes over the top of the ground rather than booming down on the pitch. Add to this the roof of the south stand seems to me to be the wrong shape to amplify noise effectively. All in I like all of you have had good times at this ground but the ground itself had little to do with this. All this said i would much rather redevelop pittodrie than move the home of afc outside the city especially as not much thought seems to have gone into the logistics of fans travel to and from the city centre. Sadly this seems not to be an option though the cynic in me wonders if the club were not so debt ridden if this would still be the case.

Wow. Where to start on this thread. Well i suppose a good place to start would be an observation on how the topic of Mr James Calderwood is still capable of inspiring such focused debate by aberdeen fans over two years after he left the club. I've made my opinion of JC clear on this forum on more than one occasion. Put simply i think he generally did pretty well, signed some good players and produced a solid if fairly uninspiring team that underachieved on a number of significant occasions. He talked an awful lot of shite in the media which a lot of aberdeen fans found embarrassing and did him no favours when results became poorer. He clearly had his undroppable favourites (byrne mackie etc) and his tactical choices were questionable on more than one occasion. He was initially backed well by the board but things went sour when they didnt back him in the transfer window after the copenhagen game. I maintain this was where things went wrong for him, keeping hart and clark and adding a couple of players at this point would have pushed us on to bigger and better for the rest of that season and the next. Things started to stagnate and then with the likes of nicholson leaving to be replaced by casper we went into decline. Unfortunately Calderwood was nowhere near a good enough coach or tactician to compensate for the drop in standard of player. I see comparisons with harry redknapp as he's also fine as long as he has money to spend and clearly enjoys close relations with his players. Its no secret that Joe Jordan is the brains of that operation though, a role Jimmy Nichol played at Aberdeen (theres a guy i would have back at the club in a coaching role in a second). I've mentioned before that a good pal of mine works at county, i asked him about Calderwood a few months after he got there. The report i got back was quite condemning. Familiar phrases of players starting regardless of performance and odd tactical choices were noticable. This was added along with a general treating of contempt of non playing staff and most disturbingly the best left back at the club, Scott Morrison, was dropped because "he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth". In short my pal, who is friendly, amiable and generally finds a good word to say about most, text me when he left saying "thank fuck that fat fucking orange cunt has left" I found this very telling.

What mad bad said. At the moment I am so disillusioned with the dons. Next game I go to is likely to be ict away on xmas eve but that's only because I'll be in inverness for xmas and it will be a good day out with the boys.

The most conservative estimate of the club debt i have heard recently is 10 mill. Under the current financial climate and the turnover of the club that debt is unservicable, milne walks the bank would be chapping the door within the hour. Look what happened to the huns over little more than twice that amount in the summer and their turnover is far in excess of ours. Admin is a very real possibility in the coming months no doubt about it, it may actually be inevitable now. In short we are pretty fucked and i have no idea how to fix it

Who takes over though? With the debt we have if milne walks we are in admin straight away Edit, dont for a second think im happy with wiggys reign just i dont see any viable alternative

Dunno about everyone else but i have Dejavu big time. 4 strikers on the bench and two on the pitch. One recognised f/b in the squad let alone the pitch and speaking of the pitch another impotent performance on it. I really am finding it very hard to care at the moment

In all that blurb kow there wasn't one sentence i disagreed with, quite surprising for such large quotes. No doubt pressley has a reputation for being a bit of a cunt but if you take club rivalrys off the agenda he was really just a solid bastard of a centre half who wanted to win. I remember when he was 31/32ish there was rumours we may be trying to sign him and the hat (the forum i used at the time.......... i 'm not proud of it, i just hadnt heard of donstalk by this point) went into meltdown. For me i would have had him in a second, we lacked a leader big time when anderson left and he would have done very nicely. Bet we wouldnt have shipped four to QoS if he had been in our squad. I try not to hold that dislike against some players (note some) when they quit the game. Cunt or not theres no doubt he has decent footballing intellect and i had a lot of respect for him when he stood up to mad vlad. By all accounts falkirk are starting to come good after a tough first 18 months and playing some nice stuff with a young squad. I certainly wouldnt write off the possibility of pressley becoming a good manager so im not particularly surprised to hear talking an awful lot of sense. His voice grates to fuck though, sounds like a gorrilla trying to purr like a cat
