  1. Wasn't at the game and not seen the highlights (at a wedding reception). I thought mackie was amazing last week at tannadump, good to hear he has carried his form over. delighted with the win, let's hope for a decent draw at home, anyone know when the draw is?
  2. Aye they got half a mill for levein and won't go above 90k for fenlon. Apparently bohemians would have settled for 180k. I would be a bit pissed if I was an arab......
  3. As far as I'm concerned this debate over the death of the ultra's has been the most interesting thing about them. I can honestly say I really didn't give a shit about card displays, horns or big flags. That's not to say I dissaproved of them I just didn't give a shit. I never really saw it as adding to the atmosphere, if the game was important enough/entertaining enough atmosphere takes car of itself. If its not no amount of big flags is going to change it. I respect the time they put into the ultra's, it bothers me not that they're not anymore. On the flipside at least they will get to have a few beers and watch the 1245 ko in the pub now.
  4. Without any shadow of a doubt russel anderson everytime. I would love to have him back.
  5. Playing devils advocate a wee bit here but all the people they are looking at are hardly inspiring, maybe they should go for calderwood
  6. Ah ray naturally both footed mckinnon. I'll see him with micheal o neall
  7. Excellent result and one that we sorely needed. I thought mackie was superb, never gave kenneth or webster a moments peace. Marshall looked very good in the first half, the lad can actually pass the ball and did very well to set up charlie. Real shame gassi got sent off as he had been having a good game. Pass marks to everyone and get it right up ya jutie scum
  8. Re aluko, don't think its very fair to judge him too much at the moment. Due to injury and international commitments he's had no kind of run in the side. I think waiting till he's had a few starts in a row would be prudent
  9. Right soz for delay. Answer to one, of course no manager is perfect with their dealings with the press but JC is in a completely different league to levein. I remember when lafferty got mulgrew sent off, jc afterwards said of the incident "well charlies an honest lad and he's come off saying he's not touched him but you know big kyle he's an honest player too" Compare that to the rant levein went on when utd got screwed at ibrox. Point 2. Levein has been the director of football at utd for a good few seasons now and has completely changed the clubs infastructure at pretty much every level. Point 3. To be honest dave i just really like the way levein goes about his business. He's shrewd tactically, has the eye for a player, is a very good man manager and has a good record with youth development. I cant really say these things about calderwood
  10. My flatmate who works as head of admin at a football club was telling me that pre contract agreements can be signed as far ahead as two months before january (assuming the conract expires in june) and that most do but only get announced in january. I cant help but think its gone a bit quite as its done and dusted.
  11. I would argue that the ability to articulate when dealing with the media, board of directors and players is a big part of the job. One of my biggest hang ups about calderwood was his talking pish in the media, some would say what has this to do with the job? Well players listen to press releases just like the rest of us, hard to take someone serioulsy when they drivel pish in the media all the time because they clearly like the sound of their own voice. Levein has done a lot more at utd than just manage the team, i dont care what the league standings say when it came to a head to head between the two he is the more talented by quite a distance. I for one would laugh my ass off if JC took the utd job, a good friend of mine is an arab and he is shitting it that jc is going to get the job
  12. I was right behind the wall when he pinged in the free kick against St Mirren, it was a doozer. I agree with what BB said, wasnt too fussed when he left as he hadnt been playing much and when he had he was disappointing, the reason i think he is remembered so fondly is because they were dark days and often he was the only ray of hope we had in the side, even though he was so inconsistent. I had always hoped he might come back though, when he died my friend summed it up quite well. When i play pro evo or football manager and get a really good young prospect coming through i always give them the 47 shirt in tribute to zero RIP Hicham, you succeeded where so many others failed, you made a trip to paisley worthwhile.
  13. I for one would not like to see them go out of business though i think there is a fair chance they will. If they were to get relegated though they would be all kinds of screwed and it would only be a matter of time until the administrators came in. With the debt they have i just dont see how they could survive. I wouldnt like to see it happen though as i hate seeing clubs go out of business, even clubs i dont particularily like. The only exception to this is the gruesome twosome
  14. Aye so why is he the second highest spl scorer then? Boyd has scored plenty against us for both rangers and killie and we are clearly a top 6 side. I cant stand the man but hes a very good penalty box striker. Anyway im sorry if i am being a buzzkill, im delighted with the three points and the bragging rights. Touch wood we'll have more points after saturday
  15. isnt that where the tims got mccourt from?
  16. We moved the ball about pretty well but passed of the park is simply inaccurate, this is what i mean we beat a very average rangers team 1-0 and all of a sudden we are fucking brazil. Azteca, just watched the highlights on the beeb and there were only two shots shown after kerr went off. As for boyd, well watch the highlights again and on another day he would have had a hatrick. He was one on one three times, first half he went for the shot and mculloch tried to put a head on it as it was going wide, second half he forced clangers into a mint save from the penalty spot and then from the same place turned and tamely skuffed it into the ground. These were all chances i would expect him to put away 9 times out of 10. If we hadnt had such injuries to the back line i doubt they would have had anywhere near as many chances, positionally foster and charlie were all over the place. If we dont have a defence again on sat i think we will get found out big time
  17. I dont like to be a killjoy but a lot of people seem to be getting way too carried away with a 1-0 win. In my opinion we rode our luck big time, which the stats below back up they had 19 shots ffs, and if we defend like we did against the huns then i dont see us taking the square route of hee haw from the tattie bowl. If we can get at least one centre half back to play alongside charlie or fosterhino i'll be a bit more confident but at the mo im not optimistic Possession Aberdeen 56% Rangers 44% Attempts on target Aberdeen 2 Rangers 6 Attempts off target Aberdeen 6 Rangers 13 Corners Aberdeen 1 Rangers 5 Fouls Aberdeen 19 Rangers 20
  18. Is there any word on considine ifil and diamond yet? Its good to hear that aluko and fyvie are on the mend but i dont fancy playing the tims at their place with a makeshift back 4. They looked pretty lively up front against st mirren
  19. Away to county, my flatmate is a big county fan
  20. Cracking result, really was. Gotta say though i thought once we scored we seemed to stop playing. They may have been playing poorly but on another day boyd would have had a hattrick some of the chances he missed. That said i reckon he only got so much space at times because of the makeshift defence. As i said great result and i thought we played particularily well for the 10 minutes up to the goal but lets not pretend we didnt ride our luck in that game. They had 3 times as many shot on target and twice as many off target.
  21. oh god oh god please no
  22. I have iun the past been a big fan of spiers, he was the only journo who seemed to get why we didnt like JC to much and wrote a very good article summing it up for one. That said i have read a few of his in the past month that have made me wary of him. Whilst there are a couple of reasonable points in the above it seems more personal in its criticisms than is par for the course for spiers. Re millers "outbursts" at ref's i believe these to simply be trying to get the siege mentality back at pittodrie after 5 years of calderwood being everyone's best mate
  23. Alright folks long time no speak, hope you all are keeping well. I for one would love to see jim o brien at pittodrie, he's a player that has really impressed me the past year or so and is exactly the kind of player we need. Foster has come on as a player under mcghee by all accounts, not sure about gary mac though. I had hoped he would fill the void left by barry nic but it doesnt seem to have quite happened for him.
  24. One positive about this is it shows mcghee isnt scared of making tough and potentially unpopular decisions. Sacking leighton would not have been an easy choice given their playing history and the affection the fans have for him bit he had the stones to do it.
  25. Can but hope that paton will. I really liked the look of him when he came on at ibrox
