  1. oh god oh god please no
  2. I have iun the past been a big fan of spiers, he was the only journo who seemed to get why we didnt like JC to much and wrote a very good article summing it up for one. That said i have read a few of his in the past month that have made me wary of him. Whilst there are a couple of reasonable points in the above it seems more personal in its criticisms than is par for the course for spiers. Re millers "outbursts" at ref's i believe these to simply be trying to get the siege mentality back at pittodrie after 5 years of calderwood being everyone's best mate
  3. Alright folks long time no speak, hope you all are keeping well. I for one would love to see jim o brien at pittodrie, he's a player that has really impressed me the past year or so and is exactly the kind of player we need. Foster has come on as a player under mcghee by all accounts, not sure about gary mac though. I had hoped he would fill the void left by barry nic but it doesnt seem to have quite happened for him.
  4. One positive about this is it shows mcghee isnt scared of making tough and potentially unpopular decisions. Sacking leighton would not have been an easy choice given their playing history and the affection the fans have for him bit he had the stones to do it.
  5. Can but hope that paton will. I really liked the look of him when he came on at ibrox
  6. Christ whitby must be a real shithole then
  7. Its also very likely that the only reason webster was prepared to go to utd would be to work with levein again.
  8. I see mccall is in the running for the falkirk job. I'd actually like him to get it, always enjoyed shouting abuse at him from the stands.
  9. You could try phoning them up? If they go bust you've lost your money
  10. Anyone else think the lady (camp chairman in this case) doth protest too much? Sounds to me like he is resigned to losing Mcghee and looking for a replacement already though he doesnt want Mcghee to know this of course for hope of another lithuania flight scenario.
  11. Says on the beeb website that up to 3 spl clubs could go into admin if setanta doesnt pay up. I wonder who they would be? Probably st mirren, killmarnock and falkirk i would have thought. Would be bad for the league if they did but on the flip side might mean we could get andy dorman on the cheap. Wouldnt mind that taoul boy from killie either
  12. The "big kyle" comment after the cheating cunt had got mulgrew sent off really pissed me of.
  13. I dont believe he should be judged on his playing career if considered for this position. John hughes wasnt ever used in the same sentence as "slick passing movement " during his playing career but as a coach his teams do. Same can be said for tony mowbary. Dobbin's coaching cv is pretty good and he gives a shit about AFC. More than that i dont imagine him taking any shit on the coaching pitches nice guy or not.
  14. I cant help but find their delusions of granduer quite funny.
  15. Langfield for one, best keeper in the league this season if you ask me. Im not sure what your getting at harcus.
  16. I have to say i feel an element of sympathy for wright, he hasnt had much of a sniff of the first team. It kinda reminds me how JDV was treated. Signed as an attacker that could create/score chances (depending on player) in lots of media attention but then never played.
  17. I think calderwood instability would have put players off coming to aberdeen as well. Its common knowledge that there was pessimism of the managers ability in a wide cross section of the support, i dont think a player would be quite so keen to sign for a manager that might not be there in 6 months. Whatever else mcghee gives us he gives us a lot more appeal to new signings on these grounds alone though of course any new manager would have provided this. He wasn't my first choice but far from my last. That said I think he will do a better job than calderwood, possibly quite a bit, and im very pleased we have appointed someone who knows the club and the scottish game. There will be none of the JC niceness directed toward every single team except celtic. Hopefully we might even recreate the siege mentality fergie had going. No reason why not though, most teams fans in scotland hate aberdeen (well apart from some sellick and hibs fans). Im also actually looking forward to hearing a press release from the aberdeen manager, its been a while since i could say that the amount of drivel JC came out with. Welcome home Mr Mcghee
  18. I hear you there
  19. No its not. Given the finances of the club though its probably the best reference available now
  20. Honestly, what did you think was going to happen?
  21. I think thats the final nail in the "Eric Black dons manager" coffin, pretty gutted to be honest but onwards and upwards. Mcghee is clearly the no 1 favourite and given that Levein is unlikely to come he is now my first choice of the realistic options. One thing i will say about Mcghee is i think some of the comments saying we would be as well off with calderwood are wide of the mark. Mcghee is quite a different type of manager than JC is, I dont envisage any more ridiculous press comments under his (assuming he gets it) reign or any of the tactical lunacy of the past five years. Motherwell were a tough nut to crack in his first year in charge and its fair to say that though they disapointed this season they did get a few key injuries and that pitch would not have helped them in the slightest. We could do significantly worse
  22. Boothroyds cv is pretty good but I am very wary of appointing anyone who has no experience of the scottish game.
  23. Wow a debate about the wether Darren Mackie is any good or not, what a novel idea....
  24. Felt sorry for falkirk, thought they passed it around pretty well and dominated play. They should have had higdon on from the start, weir was shitting it everytime the ball wwent near him

I think smith has actually done the right thing here. Fuck them and their british bollocks, really looking forward to supporting whoever they play
