You want to mock fine, i stand by what i said

Woah there betsy!!! Im not trying to take anything away from the achievement but lets look at it rationally. The Dnipro game at home the nearest we came to scoring was a 25 yarder from clark that the keeper did brilliantly to put onto the post. The second leg they were all over us and if wasnt for 4 amazing saves from langfield we would have been out. One in particular when he manged to get his hand onto a ball that was behind him to tip it onto the bar was the best save i've seen from an aberdeen keeper in such a crucial game since snelders. The panathaniakos game we were whitewashed, the moscow game we did well in the first half but didnt have a sniff in the second. The madrid game we played well but were totally outclassed. The copenhagen game was phenomenal obviously and the 1st half against munich was awesome but looking at all the results we did ride our luck to get that far.

Anyone read the article bout him in the p+j today? Sounds like the guy has a decent pedigree but it would be a massive gamble given his injury record. from the P+J Can some please explain to me how you dont notice someone puncturing your lung when your getting your getting surgery on your finger? I asked my friends mum who is a theatre nurse and she was mightly perplexed by this

For me this would be a big hike in domestic consistancy, something i have completely lost faith in JC to provide. The euro run was great for the coffers, morale, pride etc etc and the copenhagen game was the most enjoyable experience i've had at pittodrie in all my visits there but for all that we still only won one game out of six. Dont get me wrong i'm not trying to belittle the achievement, its not our fault thats all we needed to do to get out of the group stage. When it comes down to it though we rode our luck massively enroute to munich

Joe Harper: "Saturday is wrong time for protests"
tlg1903 replied to Kowalski's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I would agree with that, if we lose though then i think the protest will go ahead for sure -
i really hope your right TF, i'm living in inverness at the mo! Unfortunately though i reckon the falkirk game was nothing but a blip.

Theres quite a bit of proof to be fair. Regardless though you still got me

Of course not it was just an example of a how an inexperienced manager had done well on his first time. For me its not about change for changes sake its because i think he's done the best he can and is incapable of taking us any further forward.
-
How is the dutch league a joke?
-
Not really what i was saying though is it jim. My point is that speculation and scaremongering of how a nameless new manager will do is completely pointless. E.g. "He's gonna be terrible in europe" says a "who is?" says b "it doesnt matter he's gonna be shite" says a again. Ok bit melodramatic but this is essentially what jager said. You dont how an inexperienced manager is going to handle the rigours of euro football, In jose mourhino's case he nailed first time and won the uefa cup ffs.
-
Well no shit of course it is but at least when its someone specific you can discuss the pro's and cons. You cant just say that any nameless new manager would have a mare in europe, there is no grounds for it!
-
Its impossible to say how a different manager would handle the pressure of league games let alone european games so until you start talking about specific cases there is no point in speculating and scaremongering. Its probably not even relevant as i am very sceptical that we will finish in the top 4 anyway

I voted calderwood out at all costs. My reasoning for this is that i have got off the fence and planted my flag, short of a miraculous change in style from JC i wont be going back on my decision. By this logic for the club to progress he has to go as soon as possible therefore this is my priority for the rest of the season.
-
I totally disagree. Who do you take more seriously, the header thats kicking off loudly or a calm and reasoned person with a structured argument? If you are going to have a protest you really want to have some clever slogans and songs and as little as possible blind rage, gets you no-where. Unfortunately for you when protesting in the football environment its hard to keep the nuggets away.

Isnt johnnie crawford thats been on the bench recently a right back? I'd give him a go if he is, cant do any worse than vidal or foster. Not so adverse to foster at LB as he's had some decent games there in the past, he's really stinking at RB though. We keep hearing in the press that there are good youngsters coming through but they ever get a game. Dont think bebo counts as he's been floating around the 1st team for 3 years

The worst thing that happened to billy davies derby career was get promoted. They were nowhere neer ready for it and hence the stinker they had. As such i not going to pay any mind to jewells time in the prem and dont know enough about what happpened in the championship to comment. Wouldnt want jewell anyway on the grounds he knows nothing of the scottish game. As for going backwards? Derek young got a two year contract extension, this is proof enough for me. He hasnt been as totally stinking as i thought he would be when we signed him but to extend his contract, even if he is on beans, does not inspire confidence that the club is moving forward

No danger we're finishing third. On current displays cant see us finishing 4th either. I also have a really horrible feeling about he game on saturday, ICT are bouncing at the moment. Add to that its going to be a small crowd and that they will not have forgotten that they didnt turn up the last time we played them. All in it doesnt bode well

To be honest one of the things that appeals to me about murray is the fact he clearly doesnt suffer fools lightly. He's straight talking and doesnt and doesnt give a shit if this offends, which in the world of proffesional sports is always going to ruffle feathers
-
Yep it sounded to me that we got bent over the desk all afternoon and the stats back this up Motherwell Aberdeen Goals : 1 1 Possession : 58% 42% Shots On Target : 5 3 Shots Off Target : 10 3 Corners : 6 4 Fouls : 12 15 Most Fouls : McGarry (3) Miller (3) Yellow Cards : 0 3 I would say he's tactically inept. Playing a back three against a team that plays three up front is suicidal, especially away from home. You need at least one spare defender and unless you're desperate for a goal a holding midfielder as well.
-
Absolutely, i think the best thing is he's showing that he's not letting the earlier disapointments like australia get to him. Might be a good shout for wimbledon.
-
Tv coverage maybe but its not like the football world ignores what happens north of the border. Look at Mowbray for example. the standard of football might not be as good as down south but you've got little to no chance of a cup final or getting into europe in the championship. Scotland football provides the opportunity for a manager to show how he copes in some of the high profile games.
-
There is no such thing as a managerial appointment that will guarantee success. Its always going to be a gamble just like when you sign a player. I cant argue with anything else you said montana but what you are asking for there is impossible.

Oh its crushing when it happens. Last year i lost out on 472 pounds, was heartbreaking watching all the other scores come in at 5.
