theres no guarantee of short term success end off! my point is this, if JC is going to be axed (and of this there is no certainty by any stretch of the imagination) why wait till the end of the season? if we got a new man in now we might get a euro spot. Im quite prepared to go out on a limb and say that if we keep jc till the end of the season we have no chance of getting into europe. -

Way i see it boba is that if we got a new man in now theres a very good chance you would get the classic honeymoon period of 5-6 games where the players are lifted by having a new manager. Everyone's got a clean sheet and opportunity to impress but also the sudden fear that they could be seen to be surplus to requirements especially when the season is nearly over and a transfer window looms. rather than a the air of gloom that is hanging over the dressing room there would be a motivated and focused squad. Furthermore the new man would have till the end of the season to fully assess the squad, and in some very important games. This would be much more constructive then trying to work out who to keep and who to ditch from a few pre-season friendly's against inferior opposition. If calderwood is going to go then i think its worthwhile to take the risk and do it now. Its not like recent performances could get much worse -
Its articles like that that actually restore a little faith in football journalists. Its certainly a far cry to the bile that the likes bill leckie or charlie allen regularily spout. Anyone used to watch monday night live? I used to love it, especially when speirs was on with some muppet like gerry mcnee and watch him tear said muppet a new one.

I get your logic hebrew but i think our best opportunity to get into europe is with a new manager. -
As fucking irritating as it is i have thought hately is pretty good pundit for a good few years. As others have said take out the hun propaganda and its a very accurate summerisation of aberdeens current state. Really hope he's right about calderwood being gone by the summer.

I dont agree with this. Fair enough if a penalty comes during a game and you have a set penalty taker but in a shoot out? No chance. If you play up front scoring important goals is your job, any striker worth their salt is going to take a pen in a shootout.

Thank you and Goodbye / Calderwood's position untenable

Paterson Aitken Miller This is our track record with inexperienced managersso you wont mind if i treat the idea with some trepidation. Only way i would be happy with an inexperienced manager was if he was a ex dandy and the only one i can think of that has managerial potential in my opinion is eric black. I think one of the most important things with our next managerial appointment is getting someone the fans will unite behind, this will at least get our attendances up a wee bit. -

Well probably at least double the wage bill and some form of transfer budget. What have the crowds at rugby park got to do with it? -

And i reckon at a club with more resources he would do a lot better. Killie have been consistently punching above their weight since jeffries took over. Clearly we arn't going to agree on this BB but i will ask you this, If you had to choose between them, JJ or JC? -

Look at his record, it speaks for itself. Excellent manager in my opinion. Tactically very astute, can spot a player in the lower leagues, excellent record at bringing through youth players, won the 06/07 league cup with kilmarnock FFS. Fair enough if your against it but i want some reasons GS -
Might i suggest

Truth be told Kow i didnt think mulgrew was the worst of our performers by a long shot tonight. For me i would have to say either mair or probably severin, the man did absolutely nothing tonight. Hell there was a 15 minute spell when i didnt even hear the commentator say his name. For someone that is supposed to be captain? Unforgivable

Dunfermline were pretty good i thought, clearly picked up that we didnt have a clue what we were doing and turned it to their advantage. Should have scored from the free header in the first half too. So who to replace JC then if he does go? I would be happy with any off the following three Jim Jeffries Mark McGhee Eric Black -

Spineless and clueless. Thats what we were tonight. Absolutely disgusted. I think tonights result will turn a lot of people who were on the fence to the JMG camp and quite frankly who can blame them. Dont think he will go, would cost too much money to sack him, but pressure is on calderwood big time now. Even if he won every remaining game left this season i doubt many fans would forgive tonight. -

if you cant make the pub or the match http://www.footballstreaming.info/streams/todays-links/ -
Thats fucking right i totally forgot about that. "in the spirit of celebrating our dutch links" they said at the time. Cunts. Nothing to do with the shit load of money the creamed in off bigotry with it. I was totally steaming by the time the game kicked off and i think i must have blocked out quite a few memories of the day. Probably not a bad thing The only time i have seen aberdeen in a competitive fixture where it was terracing was at brockville the 1st season we nearly went down, actually must have been may 95 cos aitken had recently taken over. Cant imagine it was anywhere near as steep as hampden was back in the day but remember it was a bit of a nightmare trying to find folk after the goals.

Maybe but it was still bouncing though, that was the game where i really fell in love with football. I'd often looked at football matches when fans had just been going nuts and thought "aye steady boys it wasnt that good a goal" but that day i finally got it. Sounds like you went to quite a few games before it was re-developed though, what was it like when it was really full? With regards to the cup final in 2000 i stopped taking that seriously when had to play a striker in goals. It was just to rediculous for words and i really didnt see the point in getting annoyed when fate had dealt such a fatal blow so early. Thems the breaks as they say.

Massively!!! couldn't believe how fucked it was when i saw the highlights on telly last night. Shouldn't be allowed, spl should focre them to lay a new pitch.

Setanta event at Pittodrie (from footymad)
tlg1903 replied to Ajja's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Dunno like, booth was injured an awfull lot when paterson was in charge and he made his mind up not to offer booth a new contract. Booth was technically still an aberdeen player when JC took over but since he didnt get new deal can only assume JC agreed with paterson. -
I think that plays into our hands a wee bit. Teams will open up against us a little more away which given the defences of minkerwell and hibs is no bad thing from our point of view. Hopefully mcdonald will be back and seve can move back to defence leaving us more solid at the back

Absolute nonsense. i've been to quite a few games at hampden where its been proper bouncing cup semi in 95 where we beat the huns 2-1 cup final where we lost 4-0 and people were doing the conga. quite a few qualifiers where the atmosphere was buzzing like scotland v france, ukraine, italy twice, netherlands. You get a big enough game there its a brilliant stadium. If i remember rightly (and apologies if im wrong) you are a quite passionate hater of the tartan army so its of little surprise to me that you havn't been to any/many games where there's been a decent atmosphere........ afc havn't been there very often since it was re-developed. I never went to hampden before it was seated and can only feel jealousy if you have. I'm certainly not going to argue that its better now, Terracing needs to come back imo
